- Tommy shares his story of the beautiful Signal Yellow Porsche 911 with a 2.5L Twin Plug MFI motor. This car has period correct livery complete with Shell vinyl decals and front rally lights.
His first step into the Porsche world was through 1985 911 Carrera which he bought the same day as his first ride in an air cooled Porsche up Angeles Crest Highway. After that the obsession with a long hood classic 911 began and here he is now!
ANSWRD is a series of car reviews by real owners. Not automotive journalists like Chris Harris, Doug Demuro or The Straight Pipes. Cars in this series include the Gaglardi Vex, Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 600LT, Ferrari F12/F430 and 458 Italia, Acura NSX, Corvette, FRS, BMWs, Drift Cars and others!

great video about a great guy and a great car....nice job
Thank you Lewis!
When will we see blucelle?
@@silversmoke06 I wish I could give you a date....it’s easy to see blucille, she’s safe in Orange County....it’s just tough during these times for me to come exercise her...I’m in the NyC suburbs.....soon, I hope....soon.
That thing is awesome. My SC won't get to that level, but it'll still be fun
"Tactical feeling." I thought he misspoke, then I realized it's the perfect word, because it's a street weapon - tactical!!!
Yes!!
I thought he said tactile.
I had a rust-free ‘73 911T coupe, Signal Yellow with no sunroof, ‘S’ front bumper, 6” Fuchs. Bought it in ‘83 when I was 25 years old. Great car that I sold 5 years later in order to ‘upgrade’ to an ‘82 911SC coupe. The later car was better in many ways but lost something along the way since it was heavier. The steering on the earlier car had that more tactile feel as you mentioned that came with being lighter. I later restored a Lotus Elan (1500 pounds!) then sold it to buy an almost new Lotus Elise (less than 2000 pounds) over15 years ago. Both cars have that same feeling that only comes from low curb weight. As Colin Chapman famously said, “simplify then add lightness”. Great video and agree about the color growing on you. I remember pulling the cover off mine thinking it would be pale yellow and seeing something that looked more at home on a school bus. The longer I owned it, the better I liked it.
I hate to say it but I don't think that was a upgrqde.
Tactical feel. Do you mean tactile?
THAT is how a car should sound! Congratulations on an absolutely fantastic car. Welcome to the life of Porsche
It's fantastic
I got a viper green '72 T/E... and it gets a lot of attention... which can be annoying... but I love the '70s vibe that goes with this era and colour... so I deal with it... thinking of doing the rennsport shifter too... very nice car
Awesome build erl!
Signal Yellow looks more orange than yellow in this video... Great 911
Ah, to be young, rich, and driving a classic Porsche thru some twisties..
The sound it made after the downshift 🤤
Eargasms happened all day long!
Great video but Tommy stole the show. Damn he can drive that thing and is so well spoken. Never at a loss for words and very articulate and well spoken. I've seen hundreds of 911 videos but this one is the best because of the drivers sincerity and passion and no huge ego. Very humble. Oh yeah badd ass car LOL. The color makes it. HP way over rated. Suspension and brakes, sound and feel, and of course needs to get out of it's own way. Liked and subbed. Thanks!
2:11. Tire on backwards??
Awesome colour and livery. Wouldn’t change a thing. (Coming from a Artic Silver Porsche owner)
Nice! What year is your porsche? -Ben
That yellow is really growing on me.What a fantastic 72
Thanks so much for watching Kevin!
-Ben
Fantastic video.
Thank you very much!

Sounds a lot like my 69 hot rod. I built a 2.7 short stroke. 66mm X 93mm I’m a few hundred pounds lighter, with about 245 horsepower. Mine is more of a 911R look. Scary fast, as it is in the 1800 lb range, custom close ratio transmission, designed by me and built by Shaun Hart of California Motorsports. I had the same muffler, but switched it out to 911R muffler. Just getting ready to switch over to 911R fenders I had made by Getty. Only thing I wish I would have done different is a longer 5th gear.
Shawn is a great guy I had build my 930 box.
His Posture is killing me!!!
Well I’m glad you survived sitting through the video! (Pun intended) really though thank you for watching
-Ben
That's one of the raddest 72 911s in So-Ca.
100% agreed! Thanks for watching Kevin.
-Ben
So nice!
Looks pretty sweet!
Thanks for watching Billy!
-Ben
Congratulations on 20K!
Thank you!!
Cool guy/ cool 911
Love my '72 as well. Cheers
Thanks for watching Brian! I'll pass the message on to Tommy.

Any interest in selling?
I have a ‘71T that was originally a Signal Yellow car. That was one of the reasons I bought it. It is Ivory White now ... and I am thinking of going with Aquamarine. I had the parts for a 2.5SS like this car; but “found” a bad ass 3.8 RSR spec motor that is getting stuffed into it. I wanted to say Tommy nails the experience. I love the comment, “you could have a newer Porsche for this” ... more like at least 2! This was an expense and very nice build! Wondering if I really need any more than the 250hp that this beauty has!!
Chris! Where in the world are you located? Would love to experience your 71 when that 3.8 gets put in! Thanks for watching this and the Miata video.
Tommy really changed my entire perspective on cars and I hope to get an air cooled 911 within a decade.
-Ben
Any interest in selling
Sounds like it revs pretty freely
Ps "Musician"?
If I had to guess, I'd say "drummer"
You're right about the drummer part!
-Producer Ben
Great car, cool guy..!
I agree! Thanks for watching Michael!
Hope you'll subscribe :)
-Ben
So what band is this guy in? Just curious. He looks familiar, but I can't place him.
First I’ll give you a hint, starts with the letter “H”
Man...I want this car so bad....
Love your username
Should I Get It Reviews haha thanks...my channel is all about the ownership experience of air cooled Porsches if you want to check it out.
Great content you have here, by the way. I’m in the market for a long hood hot rod so this video is helpful. The sound of these cars is incredible.
@@Rennthusiast Oh sweet I'll check it out after work! Where are you located?
Should I Get It Reviews out east in North Carolina. Did I see you mention Drew from Cooled.Collective in this video? If so, I met him at DRT back in February. Love his work.
Looks great and life’s too short to drive in boring colors. Keep the yellow. Looks killer!
Is this car for sale? If so I’m very interested.
I could ask Tommy, but I don't believe it is. Send me an offer on Instagram @ACarPhotographer or to my email and I can forward it to him.
Thanks for watching the video.
-Ben
Dude it seems like your black levels are not set right on your vids (too light). Just my opinion. Very interesting content. Thanks
Thanks for watching multiple videos! How did you find my channel? Might be the LUT I'm using in them, let me know on the Lexus video I'm putting out Tuesday please! It's being shot on a different camera.
Modern Porsches are all black or grey (white is even worse). Boring!! The beauty of the old cars is the bright palate. I’m glad you kept the color.
...nice build! i have a 71e Outlaw build in tangerine with pretty much everything but the engine! get your view re colour - never wanted tangerine but now would have any other. this may have convinced me to do a 2.5 twin plug!
Any interest in selling
Can you comment on your driver safety harness? It appears your lap belt is sitting a little too high for gut safety. Other than that, it looks tastefully modified. Nice job.
I don’t know what he’s doing with that belt. It might keep him in the car, but that’s about it.
@@overbuiltlimited I would have a full harness connected to a harness bar built into the roll bar, plus ST seats, to keep him from rolling around in the car. You feel more connected to the car and your butt can feel what the car is doing. I have a lighter weight by 300 lbs with about the same horsepower, and I need the seats and harness to stay firmly planted in the car.
Perfect! 👌🏿
Glad you like it!
Should I Get It Reviews I like it, but the car is bloody perfect. Could not say more, maybe wish it was mine. Engine mods etc etc too much to list. Lucky man you and I am jealous...
A wonderful car, but I wouldn't drive one minute with those seatbelts...
What is wrong with Tommy's seat belt?!!
What do you mean!?
The interior camera shows Tommy driving while talking to the passenger. Compare how the seat belts fit each occupant, Tommy's is screwed up.
Drives are better without the owner in the car. The channel drives the car
Drives are better or the videos are better?
Video is perfect, and the content is what made me first click on to watch.. I think I have watched this video a least 10 other times.
Dude, do not touch the color. It's perfect.
🥱Il faut apprendre à passer les vitesses correctement mon ami pour le moment c’est une catastrophe
Blah Blah Blah! what up with the seat belts? ST have threaded harness mounts above the rear seats, I think he got a fake. I would pull the backseats and check the sheet metal anchor points.
Thanks Bernard
@@shouldigetit you welcome. send me an email I will send you pictures of how they look like. I welded them in on my 3.2 and I bought them online.
@@bernardmauge8613 What's your email?
Sitting on front fender oh no. Your car but eek!
That first downshift will tell anyone, who can actually drive, everything about this dude. Go to driving school bro or buy an automatic next time. Embarrassing.
Sorry you’re embarrassed for someone else Mr.Knight. Would you like to come on the channel and show off your down shifts?
-Ben
maybe stick it in 4th while your chatting
Thank you for your feedback Michael, I completely agree with you and I’ve been doing that and videos that I found recently that will be coming out in the next few weeks. Appreciate you watching and I hope you subscribe for future videos
Cool car cringy owner
He’s a musician, therefore slack should be cut.
