I love how you enjoy your cars Jay.....this one is a beauty.
there are a couple shots where you just see the low-key smile on his face.
I fell in love in 1969. It was the air cooled melody from that flat six... for starters. Then came the McQueen movie Le Mans. In 1970 I was 15 and wanted to tour the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen on a summer vacation with my mom and sister. Standing outside the cyclone fence behind the factory we were staring at all the new 911’s and 914’s, but the factory was closed for their vacation. A groundskeeper saw us and asked if we wanted a closer look. A moment later we were in! Posing with and photographing our favorite picks. Will never forget that moment. Jay, thanks for showing this beautiful Sepia brown T. There is nothing else like it. I still enjoy the old 911’s the most today even though my ‘95 993 is the distillation of all air cooled Porsche.
Man....i could listen to Jay talk about cars for hours, days, years!!
This is the perfect example. I'm so much more Impressed by this than any new latest greatest super high hp ultra cars, they don't impress me near as much as this. I love this generation of 911
One of my favorite videos so far. Jay always does a great job, but this one was especially good. Keep them coming!
This car is wet dream for every classics petrolhead 😉 thanks for this brilliant series Jay!
@JayDee every guy on the world dream at least once about 911. Change my mind 😉 😂
@@cx.silver.bullet 1993 wide body In White...
@@cx.silver.bullet I want one too, but I'm not paying 80k+ for a base model
Love, love, love the smile that comes across Jay when he likes a car...
When I go into rich neighborhoods and start asking questions, asking where the good cars are, they usually just call the cops on me. Then again, I'm not Jay Leno
You funny, and correct. Hehe
That is hilarious, man!!!
Obviously giving bum advice so you don't bid against him on BaT.
Jajajajajaja...took me 10 seconds to get the joke.
😆
I’ll bet everyone remembers the first time they saw an original 60’s or early 70’s 911, or even a 912. No flares, etc, just a perfect design. Thanks Jay!
I like these pandemic edition shows much better than the old ones. Sure sometimes its nice to see some of the interviews but I just love it being just Jay with some of his own cars. I mean, there are a LOT of cars in that garage, I would enjoy seeing him talk about every single one.
"Learn to drive. Thank you." As a former '71 911S owner I agree. Oh those sounds...
"If you don't get the Porsche thing it's because you've never really driven one" AMEN. I have a Panamera, and every day I drive I feel like I have my own personal racecar. The way it feels, handles, drives, its surreal. You can't explain these cars. But once you drive one and you go back to anything else, you know the brand is very special.
Jay I hope even after this Covid mess is gone that you do this type of program once in a while. I REALLY appreciate what you're doing.
ThanX again
18:16 If you know VW Beetles, the underside of that 911 shows quite a bit of similarities with the people's car.
Like rusting out. :-) But yeah, I think the hood camera had a wide-angle function on it because it looked very similar in some shots
Nothing like an early Porsche. I love these cars and loved to work on them back in the late 80’s early to mid 90’s at RPS Automotive (Rick’s Porsche Service) in West LA. The best years of my life.
I have enjoyed my Light yellow 73 911T Targa with MFI for 20 years now. Bought it from Arizona with 50k on it and it is just about to hit the century mark. Everything Jay says in this video is so true. All my neighbors have corvettes, they just dont know...
Man that’s beautiful, love the color!
1:09 rich people just put stuff in garages. Jay Leno, 2020 over 1000 cars in his garage.. xD
except he drives most of them and has them on display to the public, as well as restoration work. I guess at least he doesn't just hide them away in a dark warehouse?
And he employee numerous people so in my book he's one of the coolest rich guys out there.
But he truly loves them and puts them to good use by driving most of them and showing them off to the public. Others don't love them; they just hide them away.
@@explorenaked well I would say he is the coolest person around bar none. I had a casual conversation with him at theRock Store about a motorcycle I was riding , he is a fine human being.
189 cars*
Jay - welcome to the allure of driving a Porsche. It's not snobby, it's not precocious, it's truly a pleasure. I love my 911 Carrera, always have fun even if I'm just going to the store!
I love that color. Something about a brown paint job that I think just looks so cool. I'm glad you didn't change the color.
fantastic...I have a 70 T....tangerine ......love it..... thats maybe a 20-30k engine there...as mentioned before, Jay has a special smile for cars he loves......like this one.
Never thought I'd like a brown car until I watched this vid.
35 years since I drove a rear engined car. (Renault 10 and Hillman imp) an early 70's 911 has to be the ultimate experience. Thanks Jay great blog.
Porsche is Porsche, still remember it is almost 50 years old!! I learnt myself now that its not about the HP and 0-100 numbers. A car needs to make you love to drive and have passion.
I would love to have that car. To be honest I would love to have the 1974 Honda Civic I bought new. Something about 1970's cars.
had a 1976 CVCC Civic hatchback...loved it.....Bought it brand new in Jan '77 as a "left over" and paid $3000 even for it.....Still have the sales brochure for it.
Yep would love to have back the 1972 240 Z I had.....
I was 3 when this beauty started screaming down the PCH but if I could have I would have wanted to learn how to drive in a car like this! Fantastic example of simple elegance and yeah that color screams ‘70s and kinda grows on ya. Thank you Jay
Man, I miss my 73 T. Our 992 C2S is fantastic, but I want my T back.
I would love to take that for a spin on the autobahn..every time Jay puts his foot down he has a smile on his face....😊
That SOUND of that engine....it was almost hypnotic. I want to drive that car too.
The color is absolutely beautiful. It reminds you of a motorcycle with four wheels in how precise everything functions per his description.
Thanks Jay, great story. I found the "Stuttgart Grin" driving my friends 987.2CS. Now I own a "first run" 986. It only took me 47 years of driving. What a joy! They are unique cars, a happy place.
That is my dream car. It looks so pristine and so simple.
Your like a kid in a candy store Jay! I enjoy watching how much you enjoy driving your babies.
You can see Jay, loves this car , by just the look on his face , A BIG smile,
"The Golden Age of Motoring" . Love it!
I absolutely love that color.
Thanks for sharing these cars with us!
Now THAT'S a beautiful color.
I had a neighbor growing up that had a 1969 911. It was orange and so much fun to ride in. (I was in my early teens when they had it) I dreamed I’d one day have a Porsche, but only attained a used 1971 WV Super Beetle when I turned 16.
Nice to know a guy who knows his air cooled stuff. The smaller Porsche cases don't need a whole lot until you bore them out. I'm a bit sad I sold my early cases. At the time they were paper weights.
Love the engine sound ! Nice car . I owned a 77 and it was quick . Flat 6 . Great motor
Jay: I want to make this Porsche a little more powerful
Normal person: Bigger turbo!
Jay: Change the displacement of the engine by increasing the size of the bore plus a longer stroke crank out of a 2.7L resulting in exactly 2.5L keeping the original transmission with larger valves
How exactly do you put a "bigger turbo" on a '71 911 T? This isn't fast'n furious🤦
What a sweet sound. And seeing Jay smile was the best
What a glorious sound!
This is next level motoring. Waiting for the day I have a car that gives this much enjoyment. Stepping out of the world of sports cars and into the world of motorcycles first to see what thats all about. I'll circle back to cars before long and this is what I'll be looking for.
Beautiful. You surely have the life of Riley Mr. Leno.
Nice! I'd love a 1971 Pontiac Trans Am but i would also love a 71 Porsche 911 too.
One of the best car channels on RUclips.
Thanks, Jay. Appreciated.
Wow what a smashing color!!!
I once found a Jaguar XKE in a garage under a Miami Beach condo. The price was cheap, but the car hadn't been started in years, and the salt air (the beach was less than 100 meter away) had caused the brakes to rust up tight. I borrowed a flat bed tow truck to pick up the car, but couldn't get the truck into the garage (the car was parked in a community garage). Luckily the truck had lots of cable, chains, and pullies, and I was able to drag the car out with all four wheels locked up. Surprisingly, the body wasn't as rusty as the brakes. I had planned to restore the car and hopefully drive it, but before I even made it home with the Jag, someone offered me a fair amount of money for it (it wasn't Jay). I made $3k for simply dragging the car of the garage and attempting to go home.
That car is so beautiful, I don't think I've ever wanted one of Jay's cars more than I want this one.
Another Outstanding video and presentation. As an MGB restorer and collector I would like to make a youtube video on each of my 6 restored MGBs. Thank you Jay!
What a Machine you have here Mister Leno. 👍
I had to grin when he commented about all the drive-assist tech nowadays, "You're supposed to know how to drive!" Well said, Jay.
14:10 I also heard years ago that the ignition was added to the left of the steering wheel (LHD) because Dr. Porsche wanted to be sure to not leave the key in the ignition when exiting the vehicle. Another fun historic possibility.
my uncle had a 72' 911 targa. I think it was 2.4 litre. It was broke down and in a garage since at least 1988. My family sold it in 2016 to someone sight unseen based on pics for 29k. It was not in good shape and needed lots of work, but I wish we kept it and resurrected it ourselves. It looked just like this.
Trying to think of another car that can wear this color and make it look great - I fail. 😍
And then this genuine air cooled Boxer sound... 🔥
If I could choose one car from your awesome collection? This one please!
Love the colour..and the mods.
Reminds me of the 1969 911E that was Steve McQueen’s first 911 and of course the 1970 911S in slate gray he drove at beginning of Le Mans movie.
The early air cooled 911’s were really awesome sounding. I could listen to this engine for hours.
Awesome job tastefully upgrading the engine and refreshing the car in general. Thanks for featuring another great classic Jay!
Great job Jay!!! Classy Color Combination.
"Learn how to drive....thank you!!"
Do as Jay does. Wander into the next lane, leave the turn signal on at all times, just like any old man. 😏
Love this car. Perfect tasteful upgrades. That sound! I had an 87 3.2 Carrera and not a day goes by that I do not think about that car.
Thank you wonderful show as always.
Wow! Jay wearing overalls!? Wannabet he's got his bluejeans underneath?! 👀😳🤔👋😎. Love the Targa! Love Porsches in general. Nice segment Jay! I live vicariously thru your garage, thanks for that!.😎👋👍
The best and most beautiful car in world.
Thank you Jay - you had me looking in the classifieds to see what is out there and could I get one. Second to that was the pleasure in watching your video!
Jay, you're a gift to the country. Run for president please.
BEAUTIFUL CAR !
jay has so many cars, can only drive one at a time. all he did was host a tv show, and while i commend him for keeping a lot of history alive and well kept. he is the reason people are so up tight. all those cars could go to other guys to build and restore and enjoy the cars they want. instead they sit in a convenience store workign bone dry in life, losing their minds, to barely save up. and all jay did was sit in a chair and interview people for a tv show.
Thanks Jay, really enjoyed this video.
You’ll never see an underside like that even on a 25 year car! Even a ten year old car has surface rust underneath. Great find!
A treat of an automobile
I like the sound of the engine as well.
Art in motion...
Amazing these cars, completely restored or with very low miles are going for $300K +. I used to have a '73 911 T, wishing I never sold it. I'd be interested to know what he paid for the car. I'd rather have this than a new 911. I know that may sound crazy... but for anyone that has ever driven a 911 G car, there's nothing like 'em. Taking off, shifting the gears, hearing the sound that only these cars make and even the old 4 speeds were fun to drive. These cars are amazing.
Bill Hicks: Do some more Doritos commercials you sellout.
Yes only Jay did commercials. Not David Bowie, Lou Reed, David Byrne, Michael Jackson, etc....Have Bill Burr, Joe Rogan and all other podcasters stopped reading ads on their shows? Well not everyone is as pure as Larry "McDonalds, Lays, Gatorade, God knows what else...." Bird.
I hear the click of the Uzi.
I love these cars! I would love and it’s my dream to own one like this! I don’t need much power just like this one is.
Beautiful
Gosh what a nice car!
Very enjoyable! Thank you
Love this one! When I was a kid I dreamed of driving a 911. I had porsche hotwheels and posters. I have just always though they were cool.
This Porsche looks a lot like freedom!!
Great to see your face, Jay... not giving in to Sickness Kabuki by wearing the Holy Rag.
"I learned to drive fast in a 100hp VW GTI".....Michael Schumacher
He should have learned skiing too...
Beautiful car!
Beautiful car with perfect modes that don't spoil it!👍
Did he ever show us the damage he promised?
Nope
I learned to drive in a VW beetle; and as my sister loved VW beetles I drove a lot of them.
Eons later I bought a used silver 1977 Porsche Targa. It looked very cool and got lots of comments of envy. Big surprise was it felt exactly like driving a VW beetle, just more power. From the driver’s seat you can’t see how cool the Targa looks; but, you can discern that the seat, the steering wheel, the gear shift, and the instrument cluster all felt and looked just like all the VW beetles I’d driven. Huge difference between the Porsche and the VW was cost of repairs. Even minor items, like sun visors, were ridiculously overpriced. Because of the costs I wouldn’t have another Porsche if someone offered to give me one. Sorry Porsche lovers, just my personal thoughts.
In August 1971 I came home from Vietnam and picked up my 1971 911T Targa in Albert Blue. Ah, the memories! I wish I had that car back.
Happy man smiling at 20:15!
Watching on my phone and it still sounds so good
And it’ll still look cool in another fifty years. CHIPS: “Just Jay doing another test drive”
It’s beautiful
I was really looking forward to this one. Thanks, Jay!
That is sooo cool; Daryl Hall from Hall & Oats, with the great hit "Man Eater" is a restoration pal with Jay Leno. That's so cool!
Gorgeous car Jay! The car is in amazing condition.
Thanks Jay for making all these cool videos!
Talk about how well they handle because of the boxer style engine make the center of gravity nice and low.
Great video as always jay. Thanks
Jay, I love the color !
