when I first took my honours in English literature , I was unaware of many such things, and had a sort of misconception. So now being a Masters student I want my juniors to hint and make some things clear about the whole idea of pursuing Literature in India.

Also I don't like grammar. You know I take English honours this year, and some people told me that english honours is very tough for Bengali medium students now I'm very scare. Is english honours very tough?😭😭
It depends upon person to person , in my opinion one should only pursue English as a subject if he has interest in it and nothing on the planet earth is difficult if you enjoy doing it.

My pleasure, Well Eng Hons students also need to study short stories..... And for novel, I would suggest any of Jane Austen's.

I am from rajasthan, I will prepare for SSC-CGl , I decided giving next year CUET again, I think it's a one year waste, instead I am thinking that I should take admission in DU-SOL, after getting good cgpa in 1st year, next year I can migrate to regular college! What's your views on this?

Sometimes it's become extremely difficult to understand English poems and some stories also because their grammar is very hard and sentence structure is very complicated so how to overcome from that problem as a English literature student

Heya, I am thinking of being an english lecturer but I wonder What's there to teach in eng as such except for decoding writer's stories and writings....please give a fair opinion bcaz am confused between eng and chemistry!

Don't go for people's opinion, competition har field me hai apko khud ko enhanced rakhna hota hai...listen to what YOU FEEL like doing the most, what yu get happiness in investing ur time. If yu work hard at your skills and knowledge, no one can stop u from making a good future!

Okay, then you need to look up for some of the top University's under grad syllabus... & Go though the most common topics novels drama & poem. ( Like Macbeth, Dr faustus, sonnets.... Get yourself familiarize with the course

I always knew, I was born to study litrearure.
I have taken it. And I realize how hectic it is. B4it i was just thinking as language or something I studied till 12th. But literally it's not what someone will eventually think. In my 1st semester I just read like I'm reading in high school but to 2nd n 3rd i slowly understand the importance of depth reading n how extensive study it requires.. I just realize that its something more n more professional in fact may be graduation defines that only! If it would be language u would be just free after finishing syllabus but analyzation, question, critic, essays, even novels, poems have a different value altogether, that will not free u instead make u a different person 😂I can get me 😂

I like english language and I like to explore about its origin and stuff but I have no interest in literature whatsoever, so I am very thankful that I did not blindly choose BA english only because of my love for english language .

Absolutely you can switch subject in your masters . Universities are already flexible about this.
What I discovered after my bachelor's was that I hate reading novels in general but most academic readings I enjoy.
Ya novels are bulky, sometime gets monotonous

I am currently in 10th grade and I think I want to take English Literature in 11th grade.... but my parents especially my dad says that I shouldn't take it coz there are way less chances to get a job if I take it...
I want to study everything there is to learn about in our world but unfortunately our education system does not give us freedom to choose what we want to learn about... for example I want to read English literature, I want to know more about then naturally occurring phenomena around us, I want to study chemistry, I want to know more and more about the geography of Earth, I want to calculate and solve Math problems coz they are fun, I want to know how each and every country and person works, I want to know about the struggles people face or have faced before, I want to know why we are the way we are.. I want to know more and more in a deeper level about everything
But, we can only choose a few subjects to learn about from 11th onwards
Now that's some crude reality in platter, of this education system. And we can't change it all of a sudden . I must admit you have a great urge for knowledge, nowadays people are less curious. Keep that spark in you and be the seeker.... And rest listen what you want, choose the subjects which interests you more. All the best.

Can a person who knows English fluently but does not speak and understand English very well take English Honors?
Speaking and writing English is 2 different aspect. If you can write it well, u r good to go.
Still it is far better than traditional Indian courses

Yes after graduation which is B.A ( Honours) , you do post grad that is (Masters) in any particular subject.

No one is language based and other literature. Depends if you take honours or pass course.

I am doing eng hons from sol but my pdf just has detailed summary of the novel pride and prejudice and explaination of the text but doesn't contain the novel itself do i have to read the novel by myself by purchasing it from outside?

History as elective will be Indian History , but English honours history is British history. They r different.
