English literature is my most favorite subject. It is a subject unlike any other. People usually consider this subject easy and valueless since it is included in the arts stream. But let me tell you something, English literature is very hard and it is not below science or maths in any possible way. Studying English literature is not merely about reading stories and writing essays, it's all about life and humans. I am very much glad that I am an English literature student!! Literature is not easily to understand even to remember exact dates and all writers and characters. I must say its not an easy field which can easily be underestimated. After reading literature the sense of deep understanding is developed. A person started to think with many ways deeply for a single idea or thing.

Who the hell said that u need to mug up after learning the formulas u need to understand where to apply which formula and chemistry's organic is not about mugging up , some people say that bio is about mugging up but no it is not . U need to understand the concept then u will be able to remember the topic else u will forget . Every subject is tough and it requires hardwork

English Literature is very interesting. Whenever I study the biographies and works of the writers I don't feel boring at all. It gives me more interest to study further. I am preparing for UGC-NET and this is my last year of M.A.

Nowadays we sometimes forget to read for pleasure. Yes, moblie, Netflix etc. are distracting us. We are so obsessed with study guides, plot summaries and theory that we miss some privileges Literature students had 20 years ago. For example, we end up watching the movie adaptation instead of reading the novel. We miss getting lost in libraries since we google everything 😕. This is just a perspective.
Agreed, upto some extent. But I would rather read the whole thing than watching it's movie adaptation.
I am also English Literature student. And I cracked NET in the first attempt itself. I qualified for NET twice. After watching your video I felt that I too could have make a video to inspire others.. All the best madam. Please share your video after the result.

I am a mother of a 9 years old child and I live in a joint family . Yet I have started doing my masters in English literature. I was graduate but I my soul was not in peace because I did not pursue my Masters in English before marriage. Until and unless I did it after long years. This time it is more challenging for me coz this time I am a mother , housewife, wife. But I am happy that I am pursuing my education again. Proud to be a literature student.

Being a mother you can not study practical subjects like geo, eco, accountancy, etc. so no option but to study theoretical subject like English. So I always say, Children are the biggest destruction in woman's life and progress.

I've met so many people judge me because of taking literature as my major. A friend of mine literally said oh you have English. You don't have to study for it. It's so hurtful sometimes.
They judge you cause they don't have the required knowledge about the subject Englis Literature.. So, ignore them..

Tea is an medicinal drink not meant for daily consumption but we Indians consume tea on regular basis without knowing its adverse effects .
I have a weird study schedule. I generally try to do the reading job during the daytime. I'm following about five to six books-- Legouis & Cazamian, Meiklejohn (it's a very, very old book, I've got myself a 1908 print, but I find it exceptionally good for the restoration comedy of manners part), David Daiches, Ifor Evans, W.J. Long and Edward Albert (Long and Albert are best for beginner level concept making, and it's always good to read these books before touching L&C and David Daiches). For philology, I follow Otto Jespersen and A. C. Baugh. I start studying around 10:00 am (bc I'm a private tutor, and I've to teach my students from 7:00 to 9:00 and then I take an hour's break for breakfast and some other chores), then I read these books, mark and highlight various important portions, annotate points, etc. in the book till 2:00-2:30 pm, then I have my lunch, and then I take an hour's break again. Around 4:00 pm, I start studying again, this time the notes I had made previously. Then I have my classes from 6:00 pm (I'm a student of an evening college), and generally my classes are continued till 9:00 pm (average). Then I have my dinner. And the real job starts after this. After having my dinner, I make myself a mug of tea/coffee, go to my room, switch on the lights, shut the door, and start making the notes. I find it more comfortable to write at night, when everyone's asleep and a calm, silent air prevails. Words seem to come to me on their own. And because our semester exams had been announced by our University (it's scheduled to be held in March, but as our classes had started from January only, our syllabus hasn't been completed), I've to wake all night to prepare my notes. I've slept yesterday and the day before yesterday, before that I haven't slept for 6 consecutive days, and today also I won't sleep as I'm preparing a note on modern era. (P.S. All the very best, my fellows! 🌻)
WJ Long's history of English literature is one of the best books for English lit students. That is still my fav. Take love and best wishes🌟🤍
Being a Post Grad student , I realise your your hard work . There is no comparison between Edward Albert and William J Long . A NET aspirant should follow Albert religiously .

You should make your own notes....History of English literature must read....every author's biography must read....Every novels dramas characters studies,themes,title must prepare....You can attempt any question by moulding materials according to question..... theme,title,characters......History of English literature must....classical period,modern period....classical period ki characteristics....romantics.modern period etc.....strategy is that you must make your own notes....by making notes.....your assignment is ready....theme ki assignment hi to themes se relevent material add kartay jae....focus on theme....

English language is a library language. survey of British literature, English in India, American literature,literary criticism,the growth and structure of English
This kind of study is not necessary to pass UG or PG exams (3 days for a paper will give you 80+ % in exams). But necessary for entrance exams , NET , JRF ....
Well dear, there isn't any type of study. Working hard or keeping things up to last moment is a choice . And of course am not studying only for marks, I study because am a literature student . A true literature student studies and reads a lot.

I think it’s the passion towards the subject. I am a medical student, met a severe car accident and become disabled. It’s strange that I can’t sit in one posture for more than 20 minutes to watch tv or something that I don’t enjoy but I always study for hours and hours at one given time.
