Testing of the next-generation BMW X5, which will be released in 2026, has been observed on public roads throughout Europe.
Compared to the SUVs that are available today, the design will be very different. In spite of the fact that it was seen in early prototype form, extensively covered in camouflage, it is evident that the new X5 will sport a design that was foreshadowed by the Neue Klasse ideas. In 2023, a Vision Neue Klass sedan concept was the first to preview the forthcoming design language. In 2024, an SUV concept that was designated the Vision Neue Klasse X was the next vehicle to be introduced with the sedan concept.The characteristic kidney grilles, which have become increasingly larger over the course of the past few years, will be preserved in the new design language. They will be updated to have a design that is more horizontal, slimmer, and sleeker once this design is implemented. When coupled with the grille, the X5's narrower headlamps serve to emphasize the vehicle's dimensions. All of the air that is supplied to the gas engine comes from the middle and lower areas of the bumper, and the camouflage-covered grilles give the impression of being solid. It is possible that these grilles are masking sensors for safety systems. The rear taillights, even in their early prototype form, appear to spill into the back fenders in a manner that is comparable to what was initially introduced with the XM crossover SUV.As a result of the Neue Klasse language, the entire design is more streamlined and less complicated than the BMWs that are now on the vehicle market. It is impossible to find any typical door handles or apertures for the hand on the doors because they are completely smooth. The door opener that is installed along the window line by the B- and C-pillars is a small item that appears to be a small wing. It is possible that this is the door opener.Throughout its history, the X5 has always featured a split tailgate, and it seems that there is a line in the back hatch that could bring this design characteristic forward. Compared to the current X5, the back hatch has a steeper rake, which may or may not reduce the amount of space available for cargo.
Over the next generation of the X5, gas engines will continue to be available under the hood. It is possible to make out the exhaust tips and mufflers of the prototypes by looking under the area of the rear bumper. There is a good chance that high-performance variations, turbo-4, turbo-6, plug-in hybrid, and V-8 engines will be included in the lineup.
