I stumbled on this channel a few days ago while researching powergrades. I leave it to search RUclips for specific things about my Sony a7III and i kept being led to this channel and realized its your main camera. Which i found surprising cuz with the amount awesome work you guys do I bet getting an even more expensive camera wouldn’t be an issue lol I am still quite the newbie to videography and the Sony can be a bit overwhelming and i was thinking of switching to a canon at some point but this channel has put me at peace to focus my energy on trying to understand my camera instead so THANK YOUU🖤 Love from Ghana🇬🇭 West Africa🖤

Quick question: Is there a sort of "docking station" for cameras? I have a lot of things in want to plug into the camera, but Im having an issue where my hand keep hitting some of the stuff I have plugged in as I'm operating the camera I have a handle, but my left hand is still too close to the cords that plug in on that side, causing me to knock some loose or weaken their integrity.
Does that Canon 24-70mm AF work flawless with the Adapter to the sony? i have the MC11 adaptor and although the AF works fine in photo, VIDEO for AF it does not. Not worried about when I'm on a client shoot but when I'm shooting literally MYSELF I like the AF so I'm not back and forth

Hey Luke, sorry for the late reply. You certainly can. But what it may get quite good heavy with the monitor and mic on top. Therefore all I’d do is using an extension arm for your gimbal stick the monitor and mic on that while sticking the rest of the camera rig straight onto the gimbal

Yeah I’ve found I don’t tend to use it for much of the corporate work we do which is most of our shoots but really enjoy using it for any narratives we may shoot
Wonder if anyone can help. I shoot a lot of live video music, and often use a 2 camera setup Handheld A7111, and A6500 on a tripod Even tho i manually set wb, PP identical ,( Cine 2 works well) both 2 8 lens .the colours on the A6500 are not the same,

Yes sometimes but I’ve found since the a7iii doesn’t have continuous face autofocus, I don’t tend to use it regardless, using spot focusing or center focusing
Hello mate first of all thanks for your video it's fantastic .... please would you tell me how if most of the time you shoot on 4k or 1080p with external monitor ? I mean I know unless I am wrong that with sony a7iii and external monitor hooked face detection doesn't work so do you shoot on manual focus with ext monitor ? Hey Settana, we only seem to shoot manual focus really when shooting with a handheld rig and monitor so it’s not too much of an issue. But whenever I’m filming videos for RUclips using the monitor, having the face detect not work is a little annoying. However to get around this I set the focus point to where my head will be using the flexi spot and it’s usually alright. But yeah unfortunately no face detect when using the monitor on the A7iii, kinda sucks I agree

For example a vnd + mist filter.
Yes. So circular filters are usually stackable, therefore one you’ve put the matte box on you can screw in your vnd and then on top of that your pro mist. Just make sure they both have screwing threads on Both sides and you’re good

I’ve been meaning to ask, why do you prefer a Canon 24-70 2.8 over a Sony 24-70 2.8?
I’m in between choosing a 24-70 for my a7iii for filmmaking and I’m really stuck between Sony Sigma and Canon. I’ve seen short films on a7iii with both canon and Sony glass and both look stunning
Hey M! The main reason we’re using the canon 24-70mm is simply because before we switched to Sony we used canon cameras, and hence the canon 24-70mm was one of the lenses we had. Therefore when we upgraded to Sony, for mainly budget reasons, we just got a canon ef to Sony E mount adapter. Rather than spending the extra grand on replacing our canon lens with the Sony equivalent. If you can I’d recommend the Sony or Sigma E mounts. Even the Tamron equivalent is super good and more budget friendly. Hope that explains our reasoning

Mostly something that’s somewhat bright. Good crisp image quality, doesn’t drain the battery and has some necessary features such as grid lines/aspect ratio markers/histograms etc

Does the matte box fits on your sony 35mm 1.8?
And did you buy the quick release rail so you can mount the top handle?
It does but we first need a step up ring. We simply use a 55mm to 82mm step up ring then use the 82mm adapter from the matte box and it works great!! And yes the handle actually came with the nato rail which is a quick release system

Would you recommend to get the monitor you have? Is it good enough?
For general use it’s good enough, however, if you wanted a better experience I would recommend something like the atmos ninja V. But just to monitor your footage and pull focus I’ve found it’s good enough !
Do you always shoot in 4k? I feel uncomfortable using 4k because of the rolling shutter
95% of the time in 4K 24fps 100b. I really don’t see the rolling shutter too bad on it. The 1080p footage is just too soft for me
I really tried to get along with that camera, cause I thought of buying it. But to be honest...the Menu is a wholesome torture in every way. Everything is completely ilogical on that gear. I actually pushed me away from getting it.
Nice extra gear though. All must haves.
are the a7s ii cameras and a7s ii cameras similar enough to use the same cages?

I don’t think so, the A7siii has a larger body with a bigger grip, and don’t think it will fit the same cage as the older A7sii unfortunately:(

That’s the main problem. With Slog3 there’s a lot more noise and the footage breaks down a lot faster and easily in post. I don’t recommend using slog3 with the A7iii but with the A7iv or A7siii/fx3 it’s probably the better the profile to use

Yeah the only mic I had was the deity but was using that in the tutorial so had to use my phone for the audio, probably should have got a lav haha
Can you still put a DJI Gimbal on this?
Minus the monitor and mic which may have to go on a separately arm of the gimbal, yes, I run this set up a lot on a gimbal
