Ur content is a big relief for a7iii users, need more education content for a7iii rather than upgrade camera
On it! Thank you for the feedback
PERFECTLY EXPLAINED!!! PEOPLE MAKE THIS SO CONFUSING TO UNDERSTAND AND YOU JUST MADE IT SOOOOOOO SIMPLE🙏🏾
Really glad it was helpfil
I legit needed this, just shot some footage and I couldn’t figure out how I should be exposing. So easy to understand and straight to the point. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this video! I'm new to videography and this was a really great beginner-friendly tutorial. Looking forward to the HLG3 video!
Man you couldnt said it better. Thx for all your explanation. Didnt know about that spot metering tool and how useful is for this kind of work. You´re amazing
Really glad it was helpful!
I didn't even expect to casually watch a video and find out a key gem that is going to get my exposure perfect. I didn't even know about spot metering. Thanks!
Really glad you found it helpful!
wow thank you! i was always over exposing but I never realized if it was flashing +2.0 it meant it was to high of exposure. now i can finally expose correctly!!!
Really happy to hear you found this useful!
I'm pretty new to shooting video and I decided to start shooting with HLG3 because SLOG2 just felt like a lot of work. Thank you so much for making SLOG2 feel less daunting and for teaching us what that M.M indicator meant. Definitely learned a lot from this!
I’m stoked you found it helpful! Wishing you the best on your filmmaking journey. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions
@@meliorstudios Definitely mate! Keep up the good work you guys!

Just what I needed!!!
Thanks for watching
What a great video and great explanation. Most just say "expose by +2". So thank you for showing actually how you expose by +2 and your workflow. Got yourself a new subscriber
I know what it’s like when someone is trying to explain this and it can few complicated, so really glad you found out the explanation simple and easy to understand
@@meliorstudios and I also shoot with an 8bit camera, a6400, and just watched a few other of your videos. Really great work!
Very well explained. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Hello. What Zebra settings are best for S log 2 when filming car rollers at Daylight? Thank you. Love your content by the way!
I also apply this to my zve10 and it changes my shooting a lot thanks Capt. You rock
That's so awesome to hear!
instant sub. Looking forward to learning more form you.
Thank you!
Great. I’ve waited this for weeks. Next color grade video?
Next Color grading video will be end of this week! Thanks for watching !
You don't know how many videos I've searched to understand about why my clips getting blocky
Hope this was helpful!
Do you have a full video of your camera settings for the A7iii? Also, how do you get your skin to look like that far as looking cinematic ?
awesome video man! you always use the itu709 matrix? You didnt mention it here so I wonder if that are still your go to settings
Hey Melior Studios I love your work
does sony a7III HLG3 have a base ISO? also which focus mode du you reccomend?
Do you know if A7III have 2nd base/native ISO for Slog2? I’ve read in various places that it indeed has 2nd native ISO but each time they mention some different values and I don’t really think they are correct as I can see a lot of grain when using any of them.
suggest which picture profile is better in sony a7 m 3
I erred recently, under exposed, filming an amazing ice structure that looked like a Janus head in a cataract in a raging creek and the magenta cast on the snow in shadow is baked, can't get rid of it. I can go back but I'll never see that head again...Doh!
so is the a7riii an 8 bit camera also?
I didn't understand about flashing??.. Youre saying that.. +2.0 thing is kept flashing?? It is still flashing when the nd filter is still on though.. What part are you saying about flashing!! Please answer
do you have a personal reason why you like or prefer s-log2 over of s-log 3 or maybe other picture profiles like HLG?
You’re able to recover more Color and contrast on slog2 than on slog3 without the introduction of noise and Color blotching due to the Sony A7iii 8 bit Color. If you don’t perfectly expose for slog3 too on 8bit you will really struggle to grade, though with slog2 there’s more forgiveness in the exposure. However for 10 bit cameras like the fx3 or A7siii, slog3 is a must to use! I only recommend you use HLG3 when you can’t expose by +2.0 stops with slog 2
This is usually in darker situations
sony a 7iii recording timer setting please
Please do the same but for canon!!!!
Good break down of s log2 by the way what lens are you using?
Thank you! On this video we used the Sony 35mm f1.8 as the main lens for the talking head
Thnx
@@GottaVision thanks for watching!
I came back to this video bro lol😂 what’s your in camera detail level on?
I came back to this video bro lol😂 what’s your in camera detail level on?
How have you been exposing for 10 bit? Sometimes when traveling I leave it at 0 and it comes out underexposed when converted. Love your videos! Thanks!
for fx3 a7sii
For 10bit on cameras like the Sony Fx3 or A7siii, I recommend shooting with Slog3. And to expose this, it is advised to expose for +1.7 stops roughly
@@meliorstudios Yeah I always shoot slog 3 and it looks so much better when overexposed and brought down if needed in post. Needed some confirmation. Thank you so much for the response and keep up the good work on your social its so good!
@@rianscamera Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel
Would it be easier if I put auto ISO with +2 exposure for different light situations ?
Unfortunately this would cause the iso to be pushed to really high limits in darker situations which will introduce a lot of noise into your footage. I recommend always keeping the iso to 800 and max 1600 or 2000 and then adjusting other parameters to fix your exposure
does this apply to the a6600 as well? or the 6000 series in general?
Yes!
finally i saw this video but my fx3 is on the way 🤣
That’s what we get for being slow 🥲 but so stoked for you, the FX3 is an insanely good camera
what should I put in color mode when choosing PP7?
We have a tutorial on that here: ruclips.net/video/5n1rm_46fkg/видео.htmlsi=0s8OxTQMfVnhQqvi
Thank you very much@@meliorstudios
💌
my nd just stopped working normally. it keeps creating an hour glass shape/X with a really bad vignette
Some NDs will do this if you push them too far. Which Nd are you using ?
@@meliorstudios i think it’s like K&F
I’m on a Sony a7sii and it doesn’t let me go lower then 1600 :( am I doing something wrong?
native iso for a7sii is 1600 so when you're recording in log, you can go lower than 1600
Do you shoot manual ? Or auto ?
Depending on the lens but if using native Sony lenses we often use auto focus
@@meliorstudios ah ok good to know I was always shooting manual
Didn't get that clearly - why to overexpose by +2.0 MM, instead of trying to catch correct exposure around 0.0 ?
Different gammas need to be exposed at different exposure levels. SLOG2 produces the cleanest results with the best dynamic range when exposed by +2.0. However something like HLG3 needs to be exposed at +-0.0 for best results and something like Slog3 produces the cleanest results around +1.7
The number was flashing since the beginning guys be carful to not use slog2 correctly specially when you filming a special event or occasion 😂
i dont have nd filter 😪
You neeeed to get one
three not free
