    Hey guys! One more thing I wanted to mention.
    If you have gum recession, it may not be the best idea to try any at home Tooth Whitening kits or Activated Charcoal. The peroxide in whitening solutions can irritate the already thin tissue. Also, Activated Charcoal is an abrasive. So it may not be wise to use if you're worried about recession.
    Stay healthy everyone!

    Nice to see a dentist suggesting the up and down motion and not circles as thats how I was always taught. But my dentist always made it seem like receding gums could easily be reversed just by brushing properly. Which makes me feel lied to. Not to mention he would always tell me regardless of how hard I tried that I had to brush better at the gum line. Which made me vigorously brushing my gums much harder than I should have.
    Now im starting to realize how bad receding gums is and that it cant really be reversed. Which in some ways is a bigger deal than cavities but thats all they ever talk about preventing. I feel like dentists need to be more clear and honest about this.

The doctor suggested me to change my lifestyle and prescribed me a nutritional supplement that can be absorbed instantly in your body.
    In less than a year, my sleep problem was completely resolved. In the two or three years before this, due to long-term insomnia, my mouth was full of loose teeth, and four teeth were lost in a year. Now my gum disease and teeth problems are also completely resolved.

      Hi, general dentist here. You can go for the pinhole treatment they've mentioned in the video or a traditional gum graft surgery where they take a bit of tissue from your palate and suture it where your gum tissue is deficient. These gum surgeries have good results and are worth looking into since recession does not usually correct itself without proper intervention.
      I suggest you consult a periodontist/gum specialist for this problem.

  • @Allyson6C
    @Allyson6C 3 года назад +1

    I understand what doc is saying why he recommends a manual toothbrush over an electric one. It’s a lot easier to brush too hard at the gum line when using an electric toothbrush. But there are special instructions that come with your electric toothbrush purchase & it does teach how to brush & how it differs from a manual (at least it does when buying a Sonicare). Admittedly, there is a bit of a learning curve especially if you’ve always only used a manual brush. One thing is to allow the brush to do the work for you. You don’t need to use the same motions as when you brush manually, it’s quite different when using an electric. Brushing your teeth the same way as when you were brushing manually, OF COURSE it’s going to be way too rigorous on the gum line & assist in having receding gums. Admittedly, I’ve been using an “e series” Sonicare toothbrush for about 10-12 yrs now & my overall oral health improved TREMENDOUSLY once I began using it. My gums were no longer inflamed or bled. The vibration of the electric toothbrush does something additional that not many people talk about, it’s a similar outcome to what happens when we massage muscles, it rushes oxygen rich blood to the gums which is always a good thing because it helps in keeping the gums healthy. I also stopped getting cavities too. I remember having to use a manual again once about a yr after I made the switch & I was surprised at how unclean & unfresh my mouth was afterwards! I couldn’t believe how poorly of a job it did, it felt like I hadn’t even brushed at all. But I also remember just how amazingly clean & fresh my mouth felt after the 1st time I ever used my Sonicare too - it was far superior to the manual. But it is just as important not to place too much pressure along the gum line when brushing - that doesn’t change regardless of what type of brush we use. But I suppose it’s an easier mistake to make when using an electric toothbrush. But regardless of what we use, flossing is imperative!

    Thank you for this video. Question...What are your thoughts on water flossing with receded gums? My gums are extremely receded. Recently I switched from an electric toothbrush to an extremely soft manual brush. I have flossed my teeth (string floss) 3x per day for years. I've incorporated water flossing and cut way back on the string floss. It seems to be much more gentle on the mouth, but I would appreciate your thoughts. The devices that you recommended (plastic things) to insert between teeth don't work for me...they won't fit.

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen 4 года назад

      Thank you for your input. I did buy a water flosser and I'm using it twice a day and string flossing once or twice a day in addition to the water flossing. My mouth has never felt cleaner. I'm sold on "power washing" my teeth, but I still see the value in string flossing. so, together I think they get the job done. The water flossing is much more gentle on the gums, so I'm glad I tried it out. Thanks for the response...especially since the dentist never responded!

Ever since I had braces put on and was never able to get them off by a professional since my orthodontist died of a heart attack just 6 months into my treatment plan I was never able to get them off my teeth for 25 years by a professional. So I have a bit of recession especially on my lower right hand side . On the instructions on the Philips Sonicare which I started using in the 80s and have always purchased a new one every 2 years because they usually die exactly at the 2-year Mark and the instructions state that we should move the brush in circular motions. Every time I floss my teeth those that have receding gums are always bleeding. Thank you for this great video. On a side note I feel like I'm looking at a person who looks identical to me what's the exception of the fact that I have long hair. We are probably related at some point down the line if his parents were either from Ujpest or Mezotur. I wish I could get to a dentist as I have been suffering from a toothache for months now.
