It was likely due to the pressure the aligner put on your gums while straightening your teeth. Once they fleece money from you for braces then they can send you to the periodontist as a referral and get even more money. Like many dentists will see recession and not mention it until its too far and then they refer you to their periodontist buddies and then you get fleeced. Its hard to trust these people no matter what since you know the motivating factor for them is money. At the end of the day its you who will have to live with any problem and not them. As a matter of fact if the problem worsens its more money for them so its almost in their best interest to allow a problem to advance.
Interesting, I'll have to find out if there's someone in the area that does this technique. I know I had a gum graft when I was 18 that basically did nothing as they essentially put it below the area as was supposed to make it not get worse, which it hasn't but still looks bad and also doesn't provide any new stability to the tooth by giving it gum tissue to cover this. Thanks trying a new approach for patients, and I'm glad you've had some successful results Dr. Nemeth!
I had this done by you a few years ago and didn’t get the best results. Slightly better than before but I still have recession on my lower teeth. It’s very upsetting to spend that much money and to go through a rough recovery and still have recession.
Do you do the laser treatment (sorry can’t remember it’s name) with the Pinhole technique to not only fix the recession but help the bone grow back/stabilize? Or is that to much trauma on the mouth at one time?
Usually we do Laser Treatment OR Pinhole. In most cases, it would be too much to do both at the same time UNLESS there's a unique case with minimal recession (on just one tooth for example)

I should mentioned there has been some recession back, about 10% if I have to estimate (probably because I don't wear the night guard as recommended and I am a heavy brusher when I clean my teeth.) Overall, extremely happy with my decision of the pinhole vs traditional grafs.
For the bottom teeth, I have heard from many periodontists that Pinhole technique will be a bandaid solution; results are only temporary for a few years max and won’t be as permanent as gum graft. Do you really think that’s not the case?
My bottom teeth were strong and got lose directly after the pinhole surgery and my gum is much worse. I read comments from hundrets of people who Had Bad results
@@ariettyschmidt2129 Pinhole is okay as long as you are willing to do it every few years and spend a few 1000 dollars. Unfortunately, it is being falsely advertised as a permanent “holy grail” solution that is completely false. Hope you get better; uptake your collagen, vitamin C, K2, magnesium, and calcium. Dental cleaning every 4 months, and proper hygiene (mouth wash couple times a day (morning and night).
Please a video about black triangles/ interdental papillas except for the pinhole treatment? Here in the Netherlands they don’t do that.. can you cover the triangles with bonding ?
How can having the gums pulled up make the teeth more stable? Isn’t the bone what cause the teeth to stay rooted properly? The gums will help with teeth sensitivity and cosmetic purpose but if the germs are not removed then wouldn’t they be hidden by the gums and any gum disease still persists and continues to damage the bone under those gums?
Pinhole does make the teeth slightly more stable because of the thickened Gingiva. The bacteria is removed and had a harder time regrowing because there are no pockets for the germs to hide in. After Pinhole, the bone loss will be slowed or stopped completely. The thicker tissue will help to minimize further mobility or loosening of those teeth in the future.
My stable lower teeth got lose directly after pinhole and i found a comment from a woman from USA on the Internet who wrote the same and says she wished she never heard of this surgery, i also wish i would have never heard of it it's a disaster and i cry everyday
@@ariettyschmidt2129 Oh no that is horrible! Could it be due to the dentist's poor techniques? I think here could be so many factors involved as all our situations can be varied. If your once stable lower teeth become unstable, then the gums are probably not holding them properly now? They were originally fine but got disrupted by the pinhole surgery. Like they were originally attached to the teeth but somehow no much now. How long ago was the procedure? Maybe it needs time??? But it should not give such a problem. Why would your healthy teeth need pinhole? Don't they work on the recessed ones only? Do you use an electric toothbrush? I started using one that is designed for gums for a year and I have felt and seen that my gums actually started closing in, I definitely see that my black triangles became smaller (I used to have periodontitis for years and have a lot of gum recession) and my gums and teeth have become stronger! I never expect this to happen at all! I thought my state cannot be reversed except if I tried pinhole or possibly LANAP. I started using an electric toothbrush to help clean my teeth more properly (after diligent & GENTLE flossing with Dr Tung's floss only) because I just keep getting tartar build up easily on a few teeth with manual toothbrush. I was very against using an electric for years but I was so wrong. It really is good! I think the electric toothbrush's massaging vibrations actually help strengthen my gums and teeth!!! And rebuild gums! Some of my shaky teeth actually became less shaky! I do use it for longer than instructed in the manual. I first clean my teeth, massage my gums without any toothpaste (as it is abrasive) for about minutes. I rest the vibrating toothbrush on the shaky teeth too even though in the beginning it was quite sore but gradually no more sore as my teeth and gums became stronger!!! I also chew xylitol gums because it helps strengthen the bone of our teeth while neutralizing food acids and clean our teeth. I feel that my teeth and gums are so much healthier nowadays. Even my hygienist tells me that I do not have to see him four times a year now... just 3... so I have done some things right without even knowing! Without any dentist's help!!! Sorry for the long reply. If you can get onto a routine like this, I think your gums can become healthy again. Also have your seen that dentist or another dentist to assess your situation?? Because yours may be different from mine. Check whether those teeth are now having periodontitis or why are the gums not attaching after pinhole? If you have any questions, I will be happy to help!!! Our gums and teeth are so precious!!! We only have one set after losing the baby teeth!!!
great result! Thanks for sharing this Dr.Nemeth..The Pinhole Technique looks like a game-changer for gum recession. Has anyone here tried it? How was your experience and recovery process?
My cousin had one, and she said she experienced mild to moderate discomfort that lasted for a few days. She loves it hehe. Krissai also said that is is less invasive than gum grafting since it doesn't require incisions or sutures. 🤗
Can taking antibiotics cause gum recession? I’ve been prescribed Rifampin, Azithromycin and Ethambutol to take for one year. I’ve been taking them for 4 months now and my gums seem to be receding.
In Nova Scotia Canada I have been having a sensitive front lower tooth my dentist has ignored my concern avoiding the solution although she is busy with a new baby~
My doctor performed a hybrid method of the pin hole and conventional gum grafting. He made 4 pin holes in the lower jaw, inserted the donor tissue and then used sutures to hold the tissue in place. On the right side of my lower jaw at the second to last tooth I have exposed donor tissue. The gum is pushed back away from the tooth and a lot of white tissue is showing. Is this normal? Its been 12 days since my surgery and I go back in for follow up in 2 days.

From what I hear the gums start receding immediately after, even with proper care. I assume the reason depends on how much of the bone surrounding the teeth is left, you need bone under the gums if not there’s no support and it recedes. From other sources I heard it last until they become middle age or elderly
Yes thats why it doesn't last. If you search the Internet many people write the gum was gone after 6 weeks, so was mine and it Looks worse than before including lose teeth

Do you recommend getting the parts that have small cavities filled on the front before having pinhole?
Interesting, I'll have to find out if there's someone in the area that does this technique. I know I had a gum graft when I was 18 that basically did nothing as they essentially put it below the area as was supposed to make it not get worse, which it hasn't but still looks bad and also doesn't provide any new stability to the tooth by giving it gum tissue to cover this. Thanks trying a new approach for patients, and I'm glad you've had some successful results Dr. Nemeth!
Can something be done to regrow the gingival papilla between teeth that cause black triangle?
Is it a painful procedure?
How many people with periodontal disease come for this treatment?
Only the ones with lots of money to spend on a procedure that won't last. Do some research and see.
I had this done by you a few years ago and didn’t get the best results. Slightly better than before but I still have recession on my lower teeth. It’s very upsetting to spend that much money and to go through a rough recovery and still have recession.
I have read that many many times the pinhole technique does not last. It fails. The only sure thing it does is make the Dr a lot of money.
My employer has been using this technique for probably 5 or so years in Auburn CA.
Who is the dentist in Auburn?

I brush twice each time, with my sonicare and I don't have ressess gums any more
Do you do the laser treatment (sorry can’t remember it’s name) with the Pinhole technique to not only fix the recession but help the bone grow back/stabilize? Or is that to much trauma on the mouth at one time?
Usually we do Laser Treatment OR Pinhole. In most cases, it would be too much to do both at the same time UNLESS there's a unique case with minimal recession (on just one tooth for example)

Fyi to anyone watching my comment. I've undergone pinhole surgery and 6months later it looks like I've had nothing done. Don't do this technique it's a waste of money. I was super diligent with after surgery care. I'm a doctor myself. I've got it done in France
I have done it for 6500€ and a few weeks later it looks worse than before. My lower teeth got lose after the operation.
How
This is what I find in researching it. My opinion is it is a scam.
This is fabulous!
Does insurance tend to cover this pinhole technique surgery?
Can you get the bone rebuilt, or have I been misinformed?
Pinhole technique doesn’t make periodontal pockets disappear
It is just cosmetic covering if the recession .
Having recessions is much better then having periodontal pockets
Thank you so much! My dentist told me only grafts could be done for this problem, I have been asking for years.
You should look into this procedure. I was told I needed grafts with a price tag of 35K, this procedure cost me 5K and four years later still happy with the results.
@@nestorkensinger4399 that's awesome....ive had a couple gum grafts on my lower teeth and got some improvement but not worth the $10k price tag, imo....can you please share a little more about this surgery.....ive heard all sorts of conflicting opinions......im interested in how the gums actually stay in place?....as in what is the technique/rational for the gums to not want to recede/go back to their original line?......is it the collagen they insert or something else as well?
@@nestorkensinger4399 how many teeth did you have done?
@@tiffanyguzman4405 I had one with severe recession, however, both teeth next to that tooth needed to be "pinned" down too. It was done in December 2018 and still happy with the result. Wish I could add photos to RUclips comment for the before, after, and now. I should mentioned there has been some recession back, about 10% if I have to estimate (probably because I don't wear the night guard as recommended and I am a heavy brusher when I clean my teeth.) Overall, extremely happy with my decision of the pinhole vs traditional grafs.

Can a dentist do this or will I have to go to a oral surgeon l?
Dr Nemeth, is this procedure available in the Uk.
All good but one you don't tell us anything about what the Pinhole Technique is or average cost.
So what’s the pinhole technique? Or that was an Ad?
You were advised correctly. Pinhole should be banned.
Please a video about black triangles/ interdental papillas except for the pinhole treatment? Here in the Netherlands they don’t do that.. can you cover the triangles with bonding ?
You can do this in Germany
My black triangles got worse after the pinhole surgery i don't recommend it
How can having the gums pulled up make the teeth more stable?
@@josephrnemeth Awww I appreciate the clarification!!! 💖
@@josephrnemeth do you have to implant any tissue in the gums to make them thicker?
So can you explain what pinhole technique is???

great result!
Do lots of research. I did and lots of people say it failed. Lots of money and then it doesn't work, as in it does not last.
hey doc, where or how can I get this done ?
Can you have this same procedure done over a few years to get even better results or is it something you should only do once

How do you do it? I only have six teeth left. Bit late for me.
does pinhole work as well for black triangles? the interdermal spaces.. were the papillla is.?
Pl tel me procedure of recession of gums
Is this technique expensive?
My doctor performed a hybrid method of the pin hole and conventional gum grafting. He made 4 pin holes in the lower jaw, inserted the donor tissue and then used sutures to hold the tissue in place. On the right side of my lower jaw at the second to last tooth I have exposed donor tissue. The gum is pushed back away from the tooth and a lot of white tissue is showing. Is this normal? Its been 12 days since my surgery and I go back in for follow up in 2 days.

How long does this last?
From what I hear the gums start receding immediately after, even with proper care. I assume the reason depends on how much of the bone surrounding the teeth is left, you need bone under the gums if not there’s no support and it recedes. From other sources I heard it last until they become middle age or elderly
Is this treatment available in ireland
Is the pinhole technique just pulling the gum down with an instrument instead of a gum graft?
Yes thats why it doesn't last. If you search the Internet many people write the gum was gone after 6 weeks, so was mine and it Looks worse than before including lose teeth
