  • I couldn’t find a good video on the process of filling and burping the coolant system on my 3rd gen pathfinder, so I made one! After taking my car to the stealership for a large repair, I found my coolant system was leaking out the expansion/overflow reservoir after getting to temp and longer drives.
    I suspect there was a bubble in the system and lost a ton of coolant. So I decided to refill and do it myself. I used genuine Nissan (green) long life coolant to fill, I just mixed it with distilled water to 50/50 in an old Prestone jug.

    Dood thanks. You nail it in 4 minutes.
    I've been trying to help someone through this problem remotely and haven't found clear direct info as good as this anywhere till now.
    Props! This is a lifesaver!

    Thanks so much, this video helped me a lot to burp the air my engine had, after following the steps, no more overheating, thanks again for taking the time to show us.

    Did you see the heater hose hose upgrade? I bought mine for my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. My oem one broke at all the plastic junctions on my heater hose. When it broke, a couple of hours after the incident, I realized the heater hose assembly was made of plastic and aluminum tubing. I cursed Nissan and said there should be an all metal one and not this oem crap. I searched and bought the metal one and installed it. No more issues with that one ever failing on me again. The rubber hoses are the only one I need to worry about from here on

      Hi where did you get the all metal one from?

      I replaced mine with metal. Just bought the bits from the plumbing store.
      Didn't know you could buy it.

    Does this process go for the 2014 Pathfinder? I was asking because eome say 50/50 Prestone & some say blue coolant for Asian vehicles.

    How long do you let it cool down for? I know the system not pressurized but just curious

    What brand is that funnel kit you used? I keep buying some off Amazon and they just spill out the adapter...

    I want to change the antifreeze on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, but can I change to the blue antifreeze that modern Nissan vehicles use?

      Turning the heater on all the way is key. I didn't do that my first go at it and had some issues. Minor but nonetheless issues. Thanks man!

    I did this method but ended up with coolant overflowing from the overflow reservoir. Should the level of coolant in the funnel fluctuate drastically? At times it was almost empty and would then fill back up to almost overflowing

    • @Daniel-uk8nj
      @Daniel-uk8nj 2 года назад

      Reservoir should be capped when doing this or like you said coolant will overflow and spit out….and yes coolant level will rise and fall especially when stepping on gas because you are spinning water pump faster pushing more coolant through your system

    So do I empty the reservoir and radiator tanks before doing this?

      I did not. No need to unless you are trying to drain and refill as a refresh

    Where did your purchase the burping kit or who makes it?I bought one from advance auto parts&the radiator cap adapter didn't seal properly..
    Thanks

      You can just wrap the seal with duct tape to get it to seal tighter

      Depends on which one you get. Many come pre-mixed and will say so on the bottle

    Does this translate to a 2007 Nissan Xterra

      Yes Def if it is a 4.0. I believe it's the same with the other engines also

    • @frankiefurt
      @frankiefurt Год назад +2

      this actually will work on any vehicle more or less. some vehicles have a air bleeder screw like my ford fusion that makes it a bit easier. but the xterra, frontier and pathfinders are basically the same.

      Use the plug at the end when pulling the funnel off. It allows you to not spill everywhere!

    What coolant should be used?

    • @grahamsgarage0
      @grahamsgarage0  2 года назад +2

      I went to the dealership and used the Nissan brand GREEN coolant. It’s Asian car formulated. I just mixed it 50/50 with distilled water in an old Prestone container
