    My dad bought a 2007 brand new and still has it today. It's had a few problems but man, they really don't make em like that anymore. People around me are surprised to see that this car is a Nissan, especially when they look at modern Pathfinders. This gen was definitely the best gen for the model.

      I’m still driving a 2005 LE that is currently proud of its 348,000 km. Same story, it’s had some issues aside from the expected. But nonetheless it’s really been a solid vehicle!

      I have an 07 SE, bone stock aside from 31" tires. Your comment made me laugh because anytime I bring up the vehicle in conversation I always mention word for word, "They don't make them like this anymore". I have always babied it and kept it in great condition and it always makes me laugh when people are shocked that it's a 2007 model year. Solid and robust frame, practically zero features aside from cruise control which means there's far less failure points, powerful engine, tows like nothing is behind it, the list never ends. Favorite vehicle I have ever owned. It has 210k miles on it and the only thing I have replaced on it aside from standard maintenance components is the heater core inlet and outlet connections located on the firewall and a cam position sensor. I will keep driving it until the wheels fall off.

      @@jakekrauss3273 , when you changed your heater core inlet and outlet connections, were you able to change the connections by themselves or did you have to buy the entire assembly? I see the plastic housing in front of the firewall where the hose plugs in gets very brittle in time. Also, if I'm standing at the front of the car do you know which is the inlet and which is the outlet? I'm not a mechanic but thanks to RUclips I don't think there's been much of anything I haven't been able to fix. Thank you in advance for your time and your response!

    • @frankiefurt
      @frankiefurt Год назад +2

      @@wolslayer1 i'm not mechanic either but I'm pretty sure you can just change out the inlets and outlets. if you think it's your heater core you'll be getting a coolant leak into your floorboards of the cab. you can try flushing it out and burping your coolant system. look up chrisfix on here, he makes good videos. they're not model specific videos but they give you a good idea of things.

    My 05 Pathfinder is still pulling strong along with 210,554 miles on it. I changed only 4 things on it since I bought it back in 07 and it's been bullet proof since then. The radiator was the first thing I changed before the cross contamination problem became an issue 2nd the timing chain guide noise at 140,000mil 3rd valve covers 4th and a very important one was the firewall heater core hose tube at 89,000mil. It's just a awesome reliable SUV if you know where to to keep up with some of the common issues that have plagued this SUV from 05-10.

    Great video. I have a 2008 model I bought new, and still drive as my only vehicle in 2022 with 320,000 miles. Yes, I’ve had a few problems over the year, and one rebuilt trans but I’ve pulled trailers very often, including a 14’ flatbed and a 6’x10’ cargo, fully loaded many times. All in all this has been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

      That’s comforting. I bought a 2012 LE for 11k with 103000 miles in pristine condition. I love it. Taking it on its maiden camping trip next weekend in Arkansas. Only thing I notice on mine is a rattle in the rear glass/door. I think it may need rubber spacers where the hinge mounts to the glass to fix that, we will see.

    When I did the plugs I took the intake manifold off and took that opportunity to clean it and the engine compartment, and other misc pieces. Also since it was open I was able to easily change the pcv valve and tighten down my headers because I had a lil seapage. My 2010 with 187k on it is running like a dream

    I am the owner of a 2006. I have 241k miles. My Pathfinder is so fast and drives like a new car still to this day. I have had every problem on this list. I just had to replace the ignition coils and spark plugs today. I just saw this video and feel I watched this video one day to late as they did not replace all 6 ignition coils. Ugh.....I did get new spark plugs and cylinder intake boots replaced. I have to go check but I think they only replaced 2 ignition coils today. Since I have owned my 2006 Pathfinder for13 years I have had every problem on this list and more. 1. The CATS go bad and you can have a check engine light on for years if you don't replace them. 2. Oil leaks needing to have all seals replaced. 3. Drive shaft 4. Radiator issues until you just say the heck with it and buy a new Radiator. The good thing is The new Nissan dealer in my town drove my Pathfinder at the same time I drove the 2020 models of Rogue and others and found none of the new Nissans have the power of the 2006. I am going to keep it on the road for a few more years. Bottom line the power and handling are superior with this 2006. 0-80 in no time flat. 120 MPH on the highway with ease. New Nissans are not something I can drive. Thank you for the video. Wish I had seen this a bit earlier but now I know it was not just me with all these Pathfinder issues.

    Still have our 2007 pathfinder. The dreaded coolant/transmission oil cooler leak occurred after the warranty expired. Trying to figure out what to do, and thinking of getting a new vehicle, as a rebuilt transmission was $7k. Got an email notification that Nissan had extended the warranty. Ran out to the car, and we were just under the repair milage by about 900 miles. Another transmision, and we were good to go. Been a very reliable vehicle.

    I bought a 2011 Pathfinder LE 4x4 last November and while not a fan all of the plastic (i.e., the cargo area tie down points are pot metal just as weak as plastic compared to the 1/4” hardened steel tie down points of my 1993 Pathfinder SE 4x4) this is my 4th Pathfinder and I love mine. My 1st was an absolute beast of a 4x4, upgraded the shocks all the way around and that bullet proof manual transmission never got stuck in mud, gravel creek beds, sand, snow, wetlands, NW USA rainforest waist high grass, rutted trails with puddles that almost swallowed me a couple of times. Drop it in 4LO and away we go. I miss that truck.

    First of all, great video ma'am. 👍 I own an 08 with the VK56. Bought it used and one of the first mods I did was bypass the radiator coolant lines straight to the trans cooler. People tend to not flush the cooling system like they should and the coolant becomes acidic causing the trans fluid lines in the radiator to fail. It's a bad design but can be totally eliminated for about $5.

I cut the body under the rear seat for access, then used a fuel pump inspection cover from a used Nissan Armada to cover it back up. Works great. Reply if you have questions.

    It's amazing with all the technology we have these days and car manufacturers can't even make a reliable vehicles. It's just pathetic.

      It could possibly be a transmission issue, due to engine coolant mixing in with the transmission fluid from a faulty radiator which will cause this problem. This same thing happened to me.

    Does anyone know if aftermarket radiators solve this problem? Looking to buy one of these used. I read that nissan used cheap metals in the radiator that corroded easily.

    My 2005 Pathfinder just hit 237,000 miles (the distance from the earth to the moon). I had to change the shocks and struts and the two control arms because there are 18 years old. These SUVs are no longer built this way. It's body on frame, tows 6k lbs, fits 7 people and if the roof is built similar to the frontier (which it is) the roof can handle 4 times it's own weight before it collapses. PS the antifreeze/trans oil issue is fixed by getting a radiator that's not OEM. The radiator failed and ended up destroying the trans. The trans itself is rock solid on that thing.

  • @55alive

    If I get a new radiator and change the fluid and filter in the trans will that fix anything

    Hello. when i change gear from R to D, sometimes it jerks when driving fast. changing from R to D takes about 1.5 seconds. Is it normal? if i wait 1-2 seconds it is perfect. do these cars have it? that you have to wait a while from back R to D? Thanks

    I had this SUV and l traded it years ago. I hated it because it was always vibrating since it was new. It always vibrated when l stopped at the light. It vibrated so much that l had to shift it to neutral to lessen the vibration. I took it to the dealer twice but they never did anything about the problem. After some research l found out that most of these SUVs have the same issue right from the factory.

    • @FingerStink420

      Shifting into neutral and parked while sitting at a light is actually pretty bad for the tranny.

    I have a 2009 which I've packed because non-starting and noisy timing chain - just like in your own here. But I've learnt a lot here now and will share with my mechanic, if he can understand your accent. Many thanks.

  • @2pak_malamute
    @2pak_malamute 3 года назад +1

    I'm just having the timing chain done on mine. The original chains are well known for being unreliable. There is however a upgrade, duplex timing chain kit, which I'm having mine changed to. It's a double chain which is much more reliable than the original chain

      I went to the dealer and they said 1400 for the job. I asked the service dept if they ever saw the chains actually fail and they said no its just really noisy. I drove the truck for another 100k miles with no problem... just a little whining from the chains. Sold the truck for 5 grand still making noise.

    • @elonsus9747
      @elonsus9747 3 года назад +2

      I thought it was the tensioners that fail prematurely causing the whine and rattle. I’m on my original chain and tensioners. 179,000 miles.

    • @panamdragonboat
      @panamdragonboat 3 года назад

      @@elonsus9747 Correct. The tensioner part includes a plastic insert that wears somewhat prematurely especially if one does not do regular oil changes. Once they wear to a certain point, the steel rivets that are used to fabricate the plastic insert are exposed and the chain runs over those rivets resulting in the whining and clacking noise you hear in this video. My 2007 4.0 Xterra has 225k miles and so far I don't have this issue. I've always used full synthetic oil and changed every 10,000 miles. I think that makes a difference.
