    There's absolutely is feedback when you hit the helmasaur kings mask with the hammer. 1: you can hear the boss damage sound
    2: when you land a hit it knocks your back a little and spins link around 180°
    3: you can see the mask gradually breaking.

  • @SVD978
    @SVD978 6 месяцев назад +13

    For the Helmasaur King, there is an indicator that you're doing damage to the mask. If you hit it with the hammer and are successful, you'll hear a noise that indicates that you've hit it successfully

      Yeah it’s sort of like a little *tink* of the sword, the same sound that link makes when he holds down B and walks into a wall

    the spikes in the helmasaur king room are to keep players from trying to attack his backside, since that's how you fight baby helmasaurs.

    Don't forget, when fighting Mothula if you damage him and he hits the spikes, the damage you do is negated and you have to hit him MORE to make up for that.

    This might be a hot take. Back when I was a kid, Mothula was my absolute least favorite and most rage-inducing encounter in the game and I detested it. However in subsequent playthroughs, I grew to appreciate the maddening difficulty and it became my favorite because of how stupidly mis-balanced and difficult it was. Stockholm syndrome probably.

    I loved the pit elements in boss fights in this game. I felt they added a lot. Not only lengthening a tricky encounter, but also giving the player an out if they were unprepared or ran low on resources. Yes the mirror offers the same option, but it is easily forgetable. Once while re-exploring the ice dungeon I got stuck in the boss chamber for around 10 minutes before I remembered the mirror.

  • @thomaszeh2577
    @thomaszeh2577 3 месяца назад

    @BillySYT There seems to be some error in the video: When you hit Helmasaur King, you can hear it. There is a certain sound for all bosses that can be heard upon every hit that Link delivers.
    And regarding Moldorm: We grew up with 2D Zeldas which all are harder in general than 3D Zeldas.
    Moldorm requires great reflexes and hence does test your abilities - complaining about him does usually come from people who were only used to the easier 3D games.

    For Moldorm, there’s actually a hole you can fall in that gives you fairies in the floor before you fight Moldorm, so you get infinite healing and fairies if you keep falling. Yes, the boss is easier because of this, but it’s still annoying.

    okay so fun fact about kholdstare: because his weakness is fire in any form, the first half of the fight is completely trivial bc one use of the bombos medallion brings him directly into stage 2. you actually don't need to touch skull woods to beat ice palace bc everything that's ice in there can be killed with bombos. in fact i often do skull woods as my 6th dungeon during runthroughs bc you can do everything other than trinexx/turtle rock without the fire rod as long as you have the bombos medallion which is better and in fact probably the most broken item within a zelda game's universe ever..

    I actually didn't mind the floors falling out with Gannon. I actually thought they were a clever addition to the danger and of course being the final boss he should be the most dangerous, not to mention the fact that the fighting arena is much much bigger than with Moldorm. It's actually pretty easy to avoid falling in those holes since they're just around the perimeter of the room. If they rent through the middle of the room, I might have agreed with you. I could have seen them adding one vertical and one horizontal floor falling out to almost make a window shape and if you end up on a different platform where it's a lot harder to hit him even with the silver arrows, then you might be screwed, but fortunately they didn't take it to that extreme.

    I love the rankings for Link to the past! Trinexx is my #1 too. Was the hardest boss for me to beat back in the day . Thief and Agonim are top 3 for me because they were the most memorable bosses. They were true villains in the story with purpose and character as opposed to most of the bosses that were seemingly just random monsters. You did Mothula dirty putting it at the bottom, its one of the hardest bosses for sure but I see that as a positive rather than a negative, that's my #4. Mostly agree with the list, hope to see more Zelda rankings!

      @@BillySYT In a room in the pyramid after you fall down, there's a tele-tile that tells you you need silver arrows. So this is intended to make the boss seem invincible until you find his weakness. You can also go in with just the base, untempered master sword and regular swings do 0 damage to him. Spin attacks are the only way to get through his armor at this point. You have to be ready to take on this boss.

  • @c.m.9369
    @c.m.9369 5 месяцев назад

    An additional point about the Moth-boss:
    The spikes moving around isn‘t one spike ball at a time. You can have MULTIPLE of these guys moving around at once.
    There are so many ways you could nerv this fight to make it more reasonable. Only have one spike ball move at a time. No moving floor. The walls not being made out of spikes but the spike balls coming out of holes so you at least can touch the wall. The boss moving slower and/or more predictably. The boss shooting only one projectile at a time.
    It‘s literally like they threw as much stuff in there as possible, it‘s baffling! And completely off, when you compare it with the rest of the bosses.

  • @devonm042690
    @devonm042690 6 месяцев назад

    The field elements aren't even the worst part of the Mothula fight. I feel like the spike traps must have been added late in development after a decision that the fight was too easy or something, because Mothula and the spike traps don't get along programming wise. Or perhaps it's more accurate to say they get along too well. Whatever, if Mothula touches a spike trap while experiencing knockback from being hit, the game doesn't register the hit so Mothula doesn't take damage..

Also, there is a Bug in the game were if you knock back Mothula into the spike walls, the damage you deal will be negated extending the fight for no stupid Reason making it more tedious.
    I actually like and tolerate every boss in this game (even Moldorm, were I learned that using pegasus boots against him will negate the bounce back if you normally hit his body), but Mothula can just Burn in Hell.

    Trinexx loses points for me because its very possible to get to that fight without the ice rod, the placement of which is super random. I also find the fire/ice theme super overated and played out in general (not just in zelda). I still think its in the top half but I'd put all of Ganon, Helmasaur, Arrrrghus and Blind at least above him.
    I'd put a non-bugged version of Mothula very high if it was one of the last bosses - to me the biggest problem is the difficulty scaling. A greater problem imo is how easy some of the last bosses are tho.
    Great Vitreous idea, I was thinking something similar. I think a lot of these bosses could have been better with a third phase also.
    I'd rank Lanmolas higher than Kholdstare and Vitreous at least. They''re not the best fight but they're only second in the game. Those later ones are serious let downs and also commit the eyeball boss sin.

    I did not know that when you used the fire and ice rod on Trinexx you can slash your sword when one of the heads gets stunned. I would have my bottles filled with green magic potions. BTW in the original Legend of Zelda why were goriyas, octorocks, darknuts, and loinels red and blue? Why does the white sword has a blue handle and the magical sword has a red handle? Why is there a red and blue potion, red and blue ring, red and blue candle? Red represents the US republican party and blue represents the US democratic party? In A Link to the Past, why are there green, red, and blue rupees? Why are the soldiers from the light world red, blue, and green? There is a minority US party called the green party.

    isnt it funny that moldorm is one of the most hated bosses in zelda, yet its the one they bring back all the time.

    • @BillySYT
      @BillySYT  Год назад +1

      The irony is I actually like Moldorm's design, and I was a big fan of it when I was younger. But now the format just drives me up the wall. And as for Mini-Bosses, I think it depends. For the 3D Games, where they've got a ton of depth, I'll give them their own list. For the 2D Games, I'll likely either omit them, or include them in the boss ranking. Trying to figure out what to do with Link's Awakening, because a couple of the mini-bosses are arguably better than some of the bosses.
