I'd love to see a mini-boss ranking, especially since I feel like the mini-boss encounters in Link's Awakening are similar in complexity to the main dungeon bosses due to the limitations of the original GameBoy, meaning that most mini-bosses in this game are actually comparable to the foes ranked here imo.
That goes double for the Oracle games as well - in a full ‘linked game’ playthrough you’ve got close to 40 unique encounters across both games + endgame. The OG gameboy zeldas went hard!
@@OrbitalFrog_ Oh yeah, they’re both great and each is distinct by how they differently balance action and puzzle solving. Seasons leans more into the former, and Ages the latter. Well worth playing both back to back, imo. Seasons -> Ages is the canonical play order iirc; either way I believe that order has the better linked game version.
This was such a wonderful remake of one of my favorite Zelda games. The bosses are surprisingly solid for the time and system, and the remake does a nice job of updating them.
Just wanted to let you know the final boss isn’t called DETHL, it’s DETHI. The last letter isn’t an L, it’s a capital I, and it’s pronounced death-eye. I made that mistake for the longest time too!
Well the hardhit beetle has a theme. For the reward of the color dungeon is a colored tunic, one colored red and the other colored blue. The red one increases attack and the blue one increases defense. Now when the hardhit beetle is at 8 damage taken he is blue, but when he is done to his last couple of hits he is red, and firing those cross projectiles lime a machine gun. The blue signifies defense and safety, while the red signifies attack and aggression.
I’m so glad the Zelda rankings are back! This was the first game I ever played back on the GBC and I’m so glad we’re here. Would love the mini boss ranking and keep up the good work! I think my favorite boss is either the evil eagle or dethl/nightmare.
11:00 Lol thats funny because I pronounced Facade's name the exact same way when I played Oracle of Seasons as a kid and didn't realize it was an actual word. It gets even worse because Facade became a move in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and kid me was like: "Oh cool, they named a Pokemon move after that mini-boss in Oracle of Seasons" XD
The Angler Fish actually has a charge attack in the Game Boy version - you probably just ended the battle too fast for the boss to use it (I think the rocks and the smaller fish where always there too, but I'll need to check.) Also, the Genie's dialogue was expanded for the Game Boy Color version onward - in the original, he doesn't say anything when you freeze the bottle with a sword attack, so I spent days (I'm sure) just attacking the bottle with the sword, and not understanding why the battle wasn't ending on my first playthrough, until I out of nowhere tried to pick up the frozen bottle, and it worked. (It was my first Legend of Zelda game too, so I didn't know that the dungeon item usually connected to the boss in someway.)
They actually nerfed Moldorm in the Switch Remake. In the Gameboy version's the entire room was already open pit area making it far easier to get knocked off and have to restart the fight.
I 100% agree with you on Catfish Maw. I never liked that dungeon. It’s definitely better in the switch version, but it’s still not great. Here’s my ranking 9. Catfish Maw 8. Tail Cave 7. Color Dungeon 6. Anglers Tunnel 5. Bottle Grotto 4. Turtle Rock 3. Key Cavern 2. Face Shrine 1. Eagles Tower
For the second phase of Facades fight, he could of roared and the titles would respawn but instead of covering the floor they cover the ceiling dropping down and exploding on contact in a cross shape or plus shape containing enemies from past dungeons.
Hi do you know when the blood born pole will be up or is it not on here the last time I asked when the demon souls video will be up since I asked that I have beat dark souls 2 blood born and I have 4 more bosses of dark souls 3
@BillySYT I agree. Wonderful video, sir. Would love to see your miniboss ranking. Your placement of Angler Fish baffled me ;D Can't wait to see more =]
Man, sadly I've got to say that Zelda games just don't jive with me. I've played BOTW, Ocarina, Majoras Mask and this one and not a single one has really peaked my interest after a few hours of playing each. This one was my favorite of them all, but still just never clicked. Most Nintendo titles don't unless it's Pokemon.
The prophecy has been fortold - Billy will make the Link's Awakening videos! Hallelujah!
Heck yeah!
A mini boss ranking would be good
Agreed!!!😃

Most Minibosses > Hot Head in difficulty

I dunno for the slime eye, even as a kid on the original gb, i found it pretty intuitive to split it in two right away...
Yeah, he’s just so dumb lol
i love the fact slime eye was brought back in Echos of Wisdom it got an amazing fight in echos

Great video. I’d love to see some Minish cap too!
I'm doing the series in order, but I'll get there when I can ^^

Dark souls and Zelda are my two favourite things, so happy your doing Zelda ideas too now
I've done a lot of Zelda videos on the channel last year. There's a playlist for them if you're interested ^^
@@BillySYT I never noticed those, I’ll check them out right away
btw dethl final form doesnt get one shot by the boomerang in the remake only in the original
That's tragic :

Or just have the floortiles start crumbling a second or two before the face reappears.
10:25 And boomerang
Yes miniboss ranking pls
Will you make the mini boss video
I could consider it, but I think it'd be far in the future. Once I've done my Elden Ring DLC coverage, I'm moving on to the Oracle Games.
The moment I saw Golden Sun for Switch Online guess who came to mind.
I might have to make a Golden Sun boss ranking at some point
@@BillySYT Golden Sun + Big TV + Pro Controller. Perfection

The Bloodborne poll will be up later this month, after I've settled into my new house ^^
This game becomes ridiculously easy if you choose the red mail. Every boss besides the final one go down in 30 seconds after you get it.
Never clicked on a video this fast😅😅
I knew some people were waiting on this one xD
I think you can just sword slash the eyes on Slime... only need to dash at the thin space between
Yeah, I realized that upon looking up other people's footage of the boss. But I attest that it's not exactly well defined.

Mini boss ranking, please.
the only boss I can remember is the face shrine boss for the dialogue
Hey Billy it's been a long time anyway have you heard the news of a certain franchise
If you follow my Twitter, you'll see I'm definitely aware of the news ^^ Thinking about doing a video or two later in the year.

Hello there
It was painful watching you dash into the slime eye like a noob LMAO. The fact I figured it out on first try too. 😒
