    My doctor wrongly advised me to stand on my tippy-toes like a ballerina, I persevered doing that and it just made it worse, I won't be doing that anymore. I don't like surgery period, doctors' bury their mistakes. Thank you Dr. Huppin.

    I've had a calloused big toe for a long time and I've always thought I was weird because I do exactly what you described in the video...I bend my feet inward and my big toe does not bend properly even though I am in good shape otherwise. Good to know I'm not the only one and it is treatable, thank you.

    Have you or anyone here ever experienced numbness between the balls of your feet and big toes from running?
    What did you do to treat it? How long does it take to heal?
    I think running too hard on my forefoot down inclines for a few days is what caused it for me. Thank you for any ideas.

    I have recently started getting this after first mile and a half of running. I am wearing the same size shoe I have always worn never had this issue before. I tend to tie my laces really tight. It could be because I'm fatter now and now my foot is fat. I haven't really noticed. I am 2 miles into my run right now it is really bad and I found this video. I am going to try loosening my shoes and will let you know it goes.
    Edit: it worked ended up running 4.5 more miles without issue.

    Hello doctor, need a help. I have been having tingling in between first and second toes of left foot for about 4months. I feel it as a type of hyper sensitivity and it reaches the top of the foot & lower leg. I have consulted neurologist and they did tests including mri of head, neck, spine. Also emg&nerve conduction studies. Couldn’t find anything. I’m recently feeling pain in left knee left side nerve when pressing and this reaches the foot as well. Also I have pain in left buttock. Could you please advise.

    Any idea what I can do if I get this in soccer boots? I tried a pair of arch sullort insoles but I didn't like playing with them in

    • @Footankle
      @Footankle  4 года назад +1

      Soccer boots tend to be worn tight so there isn't much room for a good arch support - thus they tend to be uncomfortable. I usually recommend a model called the FootChair Slim. It is supportive but very small - actually was designed for women's dress shoes. But works great in cleats. You can find our review of it on this page: www.footankle.com/orthotics/off-the-shelf/

    Hello Dr. i got the numbness and tingling affect after a 10k.. whats the best way to get rid of it and how long does it last / at the end of the race my foot hurt and was really sore but a day after just had the numbness and tingling in the mid front like you showed on the video. what do you recommend i do how long will it take for it to go away?

    • @Footankle
      @Footankle  8 лет назад +2

      +Josh Serna Hi Josh. Assuming what you have is the damage to the nerve on the side of the toe from too much pressure that I describe in the video, then your best bet is to not go barefoot at all (even in the house) and use arch support constantly for a few weeks. You can find suggestions on some of the best arch supports and arch support sandals for this condition on this page: www.footankle.com/skin-conditions/callus-corns-big-toe/ Also ice the area several times per day 10 minutes each time. Since we don't know for sure that this is the condition you have, I do recommend getting an examination as soon as possible from a sports medicine podiatrist. Certainly if it is not getting better within a week be sure to see someone. Nerves can take months to heal completely, but you should start to see some improvement in the first week or so. Happy new year!

    Hello Dr. Even with custom orthotics my left foot - only my left foot mind you goes numb after 2 to 2.5 hours of riding. I purchased larger and wider specific shoes. Wide pedals complete with the wider cleats. All types of foot beds, played with cleat and saddle position. Nothing seems to help. Have you got any more tricks up your sleeve. I live too far from you to visit. Thx much

    • @Footankle
      @Footankle  9 лет назад +1

      Giuseppe Marotta You have done everything right and you are still having pain, so I think it is time to get an opinion from a sports podiatrist in your area. You may have something going on with that foot mechanically or medically that is causing the problem. Just as an example, you may have a Morton's neuroma in that foot. You can read more about neuromas here: www.footankle.com/surgical-solutions/neuroma-surgery/
      This is just an example of a number of different conditions that may be preventing your improvement.
      Here is a list of some podiatrists around the country that may be able to help you: www.footankle.com/patients/podiatrists-outside-washington/
      Good luck!

      Sounds like they would not be a problem for you at all given that working out barefoot is comfortable for you. They are not for everyone, but with your history I would expect you would do fine.
