I have suffered with this for nearly 6 years, went to a private clinic at first (uk) told to wear footwear that prevents ankle movement, and a foot brace, all of which made symptoms worse, then I watched a young lady on RUclips who’s an expert in getting sufferers back on their feet, I now wear normal footwear, trainers etc, and can walk miles, I was on crutches, yes I do have pain when I’ve had a day at work as I’m standing still quite a lot, but get your joints moving!!!

I've just ordered some Hoka Bondi sneakers and they definitely help ease the motion of the joint to reduce pain. So far so good. I sustained a severe Pilon fracture last year. The recovery is long and trying but this all helps.

So this is EXACTLY what I have been experiencing.... Last year I had this exact pain on my left ankle area... I went to A&E, they did an x ray and MRI and they said to me 'they cant see anything, everything seems fine'..... While all a while , it was ANKLE ARTHRITIS for goodness sake. How did the doctors/nurses not realise this when I was telling them all my symptoms and the pain I was experiencing....? Very, very strange.

Hello, Doctor, what is your opinion , some say that limiting the ankle joint movement like in using an ankle brace may cause a knee issue in the long run , they say that , the blocked movement /rotation is transfered to the next joint which is at the knee , which is not supposed to move and you can and up with more serious knee issues ? second question I was about to buy an ankle brace and I saw a warning onto it to never sleep with it, what is that about ?

I was just diagnosed with severe arthritis on both feet and my Dr say he couldn't do anything about it. Ankle replacement wouldn't help as ill still have arthritis from other joints in my foot. Been in a wheelchair for 15 months after both knees being replaced. Dr referred me to a specialist to get fitted for a boot. Hopefully that works or my next decision is to amputate. Stiffness of my right ankle and pain on the bottom of both feet has me thinking of amputation. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated

My orthopedic doc diagnosed me with synovitis. It hurts so bad! Swollen ankle, very sensitive, and throbs if I’m on it all day at work. I feel better in my socks and my work shoes (slip resistant bricks) cause me agony! Will synovitis eventually turn in to arthritis? It’s very prevalent in both sides of my family.

What do you recommend for shoes and improved gait for me.? I am post one year ankle replacement surgery with the STAR device implant. My symptoms and functioning are the same or worse than before I had the surgery but I am able to walk 40 minutes with altered gait. What do you recommend for improving walking on uneven ground?

There are so many variables it isn't possible to give an adequate recommendation online. Try to find a podiatrist near you who has specialty training in biomechanics.

I'm 50 but have had issues with my right ankle since 16yrs old. It started as if I had sprained ankle so I'd limp time to time so you wouldn't know when pain was coming or not , delt with pain even through playing college football which introduced me to pain medication as of which ended up having addiction issues. I eventually had surgery on it at 23 yr old aa of which I believe they cleaned things up .Well now I'm 50 and advil & cortizone injections has found there limits from the pain is now after I sit down from anywhere from 1min to 20min it doesn't matter it's gonna take me a good minute for the pain to be manageable enough to walk but once I get past that it's usually OK but when pain is at its worse it keeps me up at night or even now while driving it's tough to press on brake without reflex of pain not allowing me to brake. Had it xrayed and front right is a piece that's cracked and seems to float . It's gotten to point at times I'm just tired of living with pain and just have thought negitive thoughts even though I'm intelligent enough to know that's not a option . Just want a life to where I can walk down to my sons games without having to say I can't do it now .

I'm 17, I had an old injury in my right ankle and my right ankle is the foot I land on when I figure skate.
I am very good at ignoring pain so when my ankle osteoarthritis/arthritis started occurring I thought I had just strained my ankle from overuse.
But after treating it like a strained ankle and resting for awhile... it just got worse.
So I looked up symptoms and lo and behold turns out it's ankle arthritis.
Me or my mom can't afford a doctor because we don't have health insurance, I'm really good at ignoring pain, and I wouldn't dare stop figure skating... so I'm hoping a lace up ankle brace, a stable shoe, and some stability work will do the trick.
And I will continue to walk and skate until I can't walk anymore if it comes to that.
Then maybe I will see a doctor, lol

Oh boy, you've got a whole life ahead of you,❤ I broke my ankle and it's got pins in it, I was 18. I'm now 53. I am figuring out new motions that really aggravate the osteoarthritis. The latest being wrapping it in a long velcro wrap, and then wearing a Kuro sneaker. I did a bit of shopping, went to work the next day, and my ankle started swelling cause it was down all day. ( I didn't know I had strained it, I thought I was protecting it😢) so it swelled up badly, I iced it and went to bed. Woke up, couldn't put ANY weight upon it. Oh the pain. Went to my ortho Dr. And received cortisone shot as well as lace up brace. They said that particular wrap I used was easy to make too tight. I'm sending you a prayer. I have it in both feet. ( heel was crushed at age 20) I've been taking glucosamine chondroiten, and msm many years, also take beef broth( the good kind) for collegen. Skate on!❤😘

    • @Hannah7Banana
      @Hannah7Banana Месяц назад

@ I actually had to stop figure skating sadly... me and my mom can't afford classes anymore and I needed custom skates to continue progressing which ranges from $600-$1k US dollars.
I'm looking into starting rock climbing since it's cheaper and I've always had an interest in climbing.
Maybe one day when I can afford it I will come back to figure skating, but for now climbing and calisthenics training is what I have :)

@@eduardogrullon696 Swelling around the ankle rather than inflammation and limited bending of the ankle. No too bad walking......it's when it's at rest and gettin up...no pain at rest.Coming down stairs is difficult because I can't bend the foot and come down flat footed.

Hi Rita- I WAS a successful and very active Personal Trainer and Bike skills instructor/coach. My life changed abruptly 4 years ago due to spontaneous swelling of my left ankle (my longer leg). Years of being a hard-core athlete, mostly cycling. (which makes this affliction odd). I've seen 7 different foot/ankle "specialists" (Orthos mostly, who are awful doctors from my experience). No definitive diagnosis. They oppose each other's opinions and I have no answers. I did not have multiple ankle sprains. I've had two, 25 years ago. one was major, one was minor. I ask if you've had any success or improvement in your ankle. I can't work, and this has basically changed my life (socially, financially, physically- the who gamut). Please share anything you can. My ankle has only gotten worse b/c of no proper intervention. thanks

Andrea Tollefsrud I don’t know what to say. I have been to several orthopedic doctors, and they all say they same: You will need an ankle fusion eventually.
I also use an orthotic that simulates a high heel. Other than that, I take fish oil, glucosamine, collagen.. And if I don’t wear high heels I limp. I still can ride a bike , do weights training and train my clients. But definitely can’t run, walk uphill or even take long walks without pain anymore.

I can honestly relate to this. Former marathon runner, very active person,
skier, biker, tennis. It's past history. Told by several ortho docs that fusion is my only option. Constant pain from the time I get out of bed, and it gets worse as the day goes on. Very frustrating, and I just want some relief!
