    A2DX is the best I ever had . Had grade 3 ankle sprains a few times in my 25 years of playing basketball. So I had a few braces of these years and I can say that these braces showed in the video are top tiers for me and my needs . Combined with mid high shoes my ankles are well protected and stabilized . Grade 3 ankle sprains are almost impossible to get right now 😅

    I've had an instable ankle (torn ATFL and damaged CFL) for 20 years now and I've tried dozens of braces. McDavid 195 and the ASO brace worked best for me, until I also got some problems in my Achilles tendon. They were aggravating it, as they were rubbing or pushing into the tendon. I couldn't use them anymore, but playing without a brace was a risk. I ended up self-taping my ankle. First I was doing a full taping job, but I gradually went down to a basic two piece taping that actually mimics the ATFL and CFL ligaments (I've realised that watching this video). It gives me enough protection for a couple of hours of tennis and costs less than the braces were costing (I was going through one brace in 2 months). It doesn't touch the Achilles tendon area at all and it also doesn't bulk up my shoe. P.S. Doing daily rehab work as well, since forever.

      @@OGantRAGE I can only repeat what I wrote above. McDavid 195 and the ASO brace worked best for me, for some time, but I ended up taping my ankle before each session and I've never looked back.

    • @maciejgawronski3000
      @maciejgawronski3000 2 месяца назад

      @@jzballz I don't think there is any special name. I just place two J shaped pieces, starting on the inside of the foot, going through the bottom and finishing outside. They partially overlap. And then I secure them with a piece of tape on top of the foot. This has been enough for me, I haven't twisted my ankle for a long time now.

    What do you reccomend for a grade 3 sprain?.
    Atfl rupture.
    Also. Compression is good on ankle brace. Its good for lympathic drainage by breaking up injury scar tissue.
    Breaking up injury scar tissue is beneficial for healing process. As it causes the injured tissue to regenerate.p
    Of course. Your body breaks up scar tissue via light swelling during healing process.
    Compression can reduce swelling especially on a good ankle brace.
    I know your not familiar with this but something people should know.

Sport a hard mid leg cast for 2 wks then a boot for 3-4wks and plan to use my A2 brace until august and then transition to A1. I purchased both the a2dx and the A1. I’m a shifty guard and felt more mobile in the a2dx but more bouncy in the A1. There’s a trade off. Also the compression on the A1 is a lot better but restricts motion more. It’s depends on what you want. I chose to stick with the a2dx, and I wear compression socks under to manage my tendinitis. Great company and and great braces 👍

    I was born with club foot and walk on the outer edge of my foot. My heel doesn’t touch the floor , and I had Achilles lengthening and a mid foot fusion of bones,
    I now have a problem with anterior tendinitis which is sometimes excruciatingly painful. My foot and ankle push outwards and I wondered if the ankle brace A2 DX, would be strong enough to stop my foot pushing outwards.
    The only thing that I wear on my feet to counteract this is rigid hiking boots. Foot orthotics do nothing but help a bit with my foot callouses.

    I can see how the breadth of the Zamst product line worked well for you to illustrate the main types of braces and be able to differentiate them in terms of support and usage considerations.
    I'd appreciate it if you could clarify a couple things:
    (1) Recognizing that "the best choice" is always the one that best choice will always be the one that best fits an individual's unique need, are you also saying that the value the Zamst products offer is such that they should always be included in the evaluation ?
    (2) In a previous video you had good things to say about the PowerStep Dynamic Ankle Support Sock. How would you position that product with the Zamst A1 and Zamst Filista? Specifically, what would be the most important personal need considerations in selecting between them?

    Worth mentioning you can use an ankle brace with some barefoot shoes like Xero for those quick lateral movements and support to reduce injury. I can no longer play in regular tennis shoes because they are not zero drop or the stack height is like wearing high heels or the toe box is too narrow causing unimaginable pain.

    Thanks so much for these videos, they're so informative and helpful! I have started getting really serious about pickleball training / playing more often throughout the week and haven't rolled anything / had an incident, but started experiencing some light right ankle pain (like in the front left of the right ankle). I realize from your sudden pain post exercise vid that it's likely due to increased stress on the bones and I need to take stretching and recovery more seriously (new to being +30 years old I guess). The thing is I have naturally super flat arches, with a generally straight foot (no C curve). Given what you said about arch pain being helped with the A2's over the A1's, but also the fact that I haven't actually sprained anything, I'm a little lost about which one to spring for. Any tips for a poor grad student with a limited budget?

    So back in May I rolled my ankle walking in my living room. It rolled so hard that I suffered a jones fracture. Ive been sidelined from playing any sports till November according to the foot doctor in my area. Ive been trying different ankle braces trying to find the best one to prevent another injury. I have a very physical job and cant afford to get injured again. I bought the A2-DX but the thing is so darn massive that it stretches my cleat like crazy. Am I looking at the right types of things to prevent reinjury with these braces or should I be looking at something else? Also, is November too early to be targeting a return to playing sports when I fractured it in May?

    I’m not dealing with any type of an ankle sprain however, I had arthroscopic ankle surgery at four points on my right ankle when I was 20 years old for degenerative Cartlidge. Whenever I play any type of sports for an extended period of time as I have recently just picking up playing pickle ball I have a lot of achy arthritic type of soreness and I probably just need some type of support brace that I could use while playing what would be my best option here? We bought the Zamst A2 for my kid who plays competitive basketball at his high school. He had a high ankle sprain with injury to the lateral collateral ligamentous complex to include high-grade tear of the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments, partial tear/sprain of the posterior inferior tibiofibular ligament, interosseous ligament injury with fluid extending from the joint space. He’s almost cleared to play in games after 4 1/2 months of rehab. The medium is the right size, but he said the plastic piece on the side digs into his ankle bone. Seems like this is the right brace for him for a high ankle sprain. Any suggestions on getting the right fit with this brace? Thanks

      You’d have to take it to be evaluated by your doc but it seems like some adhesive foam or moleskin would do the trick- that’s what I usually do with braces of all makes and models - but again I couldn’t say for sure without an exam

    Hey Doc, so I had a Grade 2 (near Grade 3, it was hanging on by a thread) AITFL tear in my right foot, and am nearing my return to sport after nearly 3 months with a walking boot. I did not get the surgery, and the most recent MRI shows very good healing of the ligament. Would the Zamst A2-DX be a good choice? Or should I just tape every time? Also, for how long should I play basketball with an ankle brace? Because I heard that I should not wear it for too long for fear of the ankle learning to rely on it and becoming weak. Thanks in advance!

    • @FootDoctorZach

      I’ve used both extensively - I actually started going to the a1 and a2dx after having a ton of stiffness and neuritis in the aso. I looked into several and these were the ones that had the least restriction of motion and security without being a slipknot. Ironically the a2dx has more freedom of motion than the a1 IMO but the A1 also has the CFL strap which I love- just depends what you want

    I always sprain my ankle landing on someones foot coming down from a shot or some unlucky incident (I play pretty aggressive/explosive/shifty). I call them "freak accidents" because there's nothing I could really do its just my foot was wrong place wrong time (and arguable the defender should be more conscious of their feet). Would the A2DX help in these scenarios and protect the ankle a little more? Or would the damage be transferred up the chain to the knee or something?

    • @Dankey_Kong
      @Dankey_Kong 9 месяцев назад

      That's what I always worried about. I haven't tried it out myself though but I have asked several physical therapists this question and they all said that it shouldn't pose a threat to injure other body parts, at least in those type of situations where you commonly sprain an ankle (landing on somebody's foot usually).
      I personally never wanted to wear a brace and just strengthen my ankles instead but it hasn't been all to successful for me so I might also try out one of these braces now
