- This latest 2.5 liter turbo AWD version of the CX-8 was recently launched, and we have delivered a few units to our fans who bought it through our channel.
Due to the shortage of stocks, it is only now that we are able to take a test car, and of course we had to take it up our favorite mountain.
Yrs, it is a SUV, and is not as agile as a car, but for a SUV, it does well. The power from the turbo together with the grip of AWD makes a great combination - your drive up Genting will not be an issue.

Toyota might be famous with comfortable ride… but Mazda has overall package… we are very happy with our 2019 CX-9 2.5t AWD - CBU and 2021 CX-5 2.5t AWD too… we have an 2018 CR-V 1.5TCP 2WD with Honda Sensing too…

Mazda Malaysia still using 7" entertainment screen? Not going to provide the 10.25" screen? What about Mi-Drive? Doesn't look like it's available. Any idea when MM going to revise to latest versions of Mazda for 2022-2023? Some items available for overseas is not available for the models here?

Hi Uncle Khong, noticed you use sports mode when driving up. Would there be difference and in what aspects if using the normal mode? what mode should be using when coming down? thanks.
Sports mode allows the revs to go higher and gives more power to the engine, needed for the climb. Coming down you can use any mode, but be careful not to over use the brakes.

Toyota is dropping way behind. Imo first Subaru, 2nd Mazda, 3rd Toyota, 4th Honda. Honda has been dropping way earlier

I saw like there was a bit of a delay between when u downshift and when the rev counter's RPM goes up
Sometimes the TCU delays the downshift for smoothness and durability.

There is the Mazda CX5 2WD and AWD. Trim levels and geatures are also different. There is also an option of 2.0, 2.5,and 2.5 turbo, and also fwd and awd. The Forester is also a great vehicle, and is AWD.
The Mazda CC range comes with 6 speed auto while the Subaru is CVT.
So one should choose a behicle from the packaging, the features that appeal to you, interior space, creature comforts, etc.

hi uncle, having driven this 2.5T and 2.2D, which one should i pick for long term use? i'm leaning towards 2.2D more due to the fuel efficiency, sadly the variant is now FWD. Is it really a total loss for not having AWD? or FWD works just fine. Thanks uncle!
guess 2.5t will be the best choice… we had an 2019 CX-9 2.5t AWD and 2021 CX-5 2.5t AWD… both work effortlessly… 2.2D might save u up in fuels and a slightly more torQue but in long run… diesels are well known for expensive repair bills
If you do on road travel, fwd is fine.
Anyway, Mazda engines have very little difference between diesel and petrol. Nowadays, the price of petrol abd diesel is similar, and also the roadtax is the same be it petrol or diesel
In my opinion, there is very little difference in normal driving.
If you like awd, go for the petrol
Diesel will make you feel like a lorry, if you don't mind about the tik sound and smell, the 2.2D will be safer in term of driving cost?

Hi Uncle YS, what's the noticeable difference vs CX9? Since they're using the same engine.
This is a smaller vehicle, and costs about RM100k less. The CX9 is more luxurious.
CX-9 are fully imported from Japan… has more features while CX-8 are CKD… we had the CX-9 2.5t…
