nah, the best use of adaptive cruise control is in traffic. I found that the most stressful part of traffic is constantly pressing the break then the gas, then the break and so on. Setup adaptive cruise and let the car do all the stop and go. So much less stress. Keep your foot ready to strike but enjoy the ride.
I've found that using adaptive cruise control in traffic leaves too much of a gap between me and the car in front. Idiots see it as an opportunity to cut in between us and then my car nose-dives because it senses a new object too close in front of me.
@@Varekai0723 I'm supposed to have adaptive cruise but so far I am manually having to adapt it on my steering wheel...up a few miles and down a few miles...way too often... Now that I watched this video I'm going into settings again. Last time I checked the only thing I found under safety settings was Blind Spot Monitoring...nothing else...so will be on the hunt. Cruise control is so satisfying when there aren't cars slowing at random times and driving erratically in front of me...living in a rural area makes it possible to use it more than in a more densely populated area. Also, one thing I have noticed both on my Hyundai Accent SE and on my Mazda 3 is that my cruise control does NOT work on very short, hilly areas that go up and down like a roller coaster. After setting cruise speed to 50 which is the speed limit the darn thing starts giving the car too much gas as I climb the small hill and gets to about 53 and then as it starts downhill ends up going faster and faster getting up to 63 and then hits the next hill. Why is this?
If it’s rush hour and you’re trying to maintain a small gap to the car in front of you to prevent them from cutting in, you’re probably not (or shouldn’t be) using adaptive or traditional cruise control. If traffic is lighter and you’re still getting cut-ins, make sure you adjust the ACC’s headway (following distance) to minimum - that should help, although cut-ins can still occur by the more aggressive drivers.
One of my favourite features is if you have heated seats, you can link your heated seats to your climate control. So when you remote start or get in the car and start it in the winter it will automatically turn on the heated seats! It sets them to the appropriate level based on temps inside and outside the vehicle. It will gradually reduce the temp and turn it off after a while as well. If there is no passenger detected it will not run their heated seat, but as soon as they sit down and click in their seat belt it will turn on their heated seat automatically as well if needed.
@@bi2lel2 you just set your dual climate control on auto. Just push the button and the light will come on if it’s set. Set your preferred temp, and when you start your car it’ll turn the seat and steering wheel warmers on.
For most new vehicles you don't have to fully disable the adaptive cruise control in the infotainment. Let me blow your mind. When you press the cruise control button to turn it on. Press and hold it and it will automatically switch to regular speed hold instead of adaptive. To switch back to adaptive, just turn cruise control off and turn it back on again. :) I would love to see your reactions to this!
I randomly discovered this feature about 6 months ago while sitting in my driveway. By that time, I had been fighting with adaptive CC for over a year. I wouldn't mind using it more often if it braked smoother on the highway. You can't even merge left to pass someone without the radar spotting the upcoming car in the right lane and then braking heavily. 🙄
My wife and I share a 2021 CX-9. One of the top comments was regarding syncing your memory settings with the key fobs. This was the biggest tip for me; it’s going to be so convenient not having to adjust mirrors or push the memory setting buttons every time.
My last four cars have been Mazdas... an '07 CX-7, a '12 CX-9, an '18 CX-9, and now a '22 CX-9. I stumbled across the window secret, thinking it was some kind of malfunction, by hitting the unlock button only a couple times in the CX-7, happily finding out that it was a normal function. The 2012 CX-9 also had this ability, but was told in the 2018 and my new '22, that it was no longer a thing. 😒 I loved that function... I'm so happy to find this video. I'm going to try that the next time I go outside. 😊 My 2018 CX-9 had a touchscreen display. When we bought this new car, the salesman told us they took that feature away... so stupid, IMO. Going to try out the android auto trick here, too.... hoping it works. 🙏🏼🤞🏼 Thanks for these additional comment tricks, too, everyone! I'm shorter than my husband, so being able to program our individual key fobs to our seat, mirror and HUD preferences is PRICELESS! 😊🎉❤
Nice! I still have my '05 Mazda3, just totalled my '18 Mazda3 (a DWI hit us from behind, that car saved our lives, my 2yo toddler was in the backseat). I'm now waiting for my '25 CX-5, going to pick it up this coming Friday 🎉
I don't understand why people don't like adaptive cruise. It is super handy and I miss it when I drive my vehicles that don't have it. On road trips I set it for 5-10 over the speed limit and let it keep pace with cars ahead of me. I also use it in town because I have a small distracting child. This gives me an edge when someone decides to cut into my lane while trying to figure out why my child is freaking out. The only time it is annoying in winter when the radar freezes over and it randomly turns it off with no way to use dumb cruise mode in my 2016 cx-5. The sudden deceleration can cause your vehicle to lose control in wet conditions.
It's an issue of having a ton of traffic and having people get just past you and then move into your lane with not even a car's length gap. Some Smart Cruise systems will literally slam on the brakes which is not only annoying and a pain in the ass but a safety issue and can cause a rear end collision if the person behind you doesn't have a good following distance. My old 2015 Chrysler 200C AWD did it when someone would move in front of me and in Utah on I-15 in traffic that was a big problem. I turned the smart Cruise off pretty often. My 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited is much better and doesn't slam on the brakes but rather just coasts until the gap is what I have it set at. My recent trip from Wichita to Sioux Falls was a great example.
It's a different car, but I hate the adaptive cruise on my 2018 Accord. Even if you set it to the closest following distance, it leaves too much space, so people cut in front of you nonstop. As a result, it ends up being very busy on the gas and brakes. It's a much more leisurely drive if I use standard cruise control and just turn it off in high traffic situations.
Adaptive cruise control on Mazda will come to a complete stop on the freeway. If you set the distance you want via the dashboard, the car will even brake if it sees a car on it's radar. ACC to me is amazing and I love it.
I just got the new xox-50 last night. All of these features are new to me, I’m scared to let the car brake for me…it really can come to a complete stop with the adaptive cruise?!?
@@jerseyj2 I have a 2019 CX5 and yes, the cruise will come to a complete stop if teh car in front stops. when the car in front starts up, providing you haven't pressed the brake pedal, it will start to accelerate again. It's kind of cool and I have used it in stop and go traffic. My only concern is that I don't know if the brake lights come on when it does this.
New to Mazda, Tommy 2 days ago. Not sure if this is trim related, but if you are in manual mode, you can change gears by pressing two buttons on the back of your steering wheel, behind your left and right wheel spokes.. So like paddle shifters, but button shifters instead.
I bought my Mazda 3 carbon edition hatch here in Thailand, picked it up yesterday ! Owners manual all in Thai. uh oh. If you buy a car here they put flowers on the dashboard and give you a small buddha figurine for the dashboard. 🙂
The Toyota dealership where I got my used Mazda 3 S Grand Touring put a giant red bow on my vehicle when they brought it up for me after I bought it. That was a nice touch! Flowers on the dash and a spiritual memento sounds wonderful too!
Leaving the drive selector in N when turning off the car puts it into accessory mode, so you can listen to the radio with the engine off. If you select P you can also get accessory mode by holding the lockout override button as shown in the video.
Other useful features**** -Remote Start: Change how long the vehicle stays running before shutting off automatically. (10-30min) -Turn off auto folding mirrors: Side mirrors will remain out/open, even after exiting the vehicle. (Can still fold mirrors manually via mirror buttons) *I highly recommend turning auto folding mirrors off during the winter season. -Hidden VIN: Not really a feature - The VIN is hidden underneath the passenger floor mat, rather than displayed in the windsheild like most vehicles. -Taco Holder: There is a flip-down taco holder located above the rear-view mirror, next to the overhead lights. 🌮
The third “hidden feature” had 2 steps too many, it’s similar to accessory mode in an old school key car where you’d turn the key quarter way to have the infotainment system or even AC going. In my wife’s CX30 or even my 2018 Mazda6 all you need to do is once the car is off you just press the push to start button with no breaks or shifter knob and both the air and infotainment will come on.
In my car, 2023 H/B, you have to press it twice without the clutch or brake pedal depressed. I am not sure what happens when it is only pressed once. (the start/stop button)
FYI, when you say AC, I hope you realize you're not going to get cooled or heated air, you're just getting air. And if you were in recirc mode when the engine was off, you're getting stale unheated or uncooled air when the engine is off. It just wastes battery.
Congratulations! Actually the infotainment system is easy to get used to, though it has few quirks. Never been a fan of touchscreen in my older vehicle where my friends always kept touching it and leave smudges all over the screen. Now I don’t have to deal with that.

I just bought a new 2023 Mazda3 H/B w/ manual transmission. I love the car and am trying to learn all of the features. Do you know how to turn off the DRL lights? I believe one time I did something with the turn signal stalk and they turned off or maybe that was the headlights? I also know that you can disable them in the settings. I think your number three was how to leave the info screen on when turning the car off with the auto trans but what about the manual trans? I know that when the car is off, you can hit the start button twice without depressing the clutch or brake pedal for an automatic.
I believe to turn daytime running lights off you go into settings, vehicle settings(?) exterior lighting, and there should be an option for DRL and a box to uncheck.

the car windows going down feuture was already a thing on my mazda 6 MPS from 2007. with that remote you could pull the windows up by holding the lock button, the same way you would do with the unlock button to get them down.

When you go to pair and select the "Touchscreen in Motion for All Devices." setting. 3. Leave foot on brake. Press button on shifter. Then turn off the car. The screen stays on for 15 minutes. 4. You can disable Mazda Radar Cruise Control and make it a standard cruise control from the settings. 5. There's a click button when pressing brake all the way in. Mazda says better not hit it. That trick that you did with the remote for the windows, if you did the same thing but hit the lock button instead? It puts the remote into sleep mode to save the battery. (It will still lock and unlock the vehicle but it won’t start the vehicle, not unless you put the remote to the start/stop button. Another: if you have the 360 camera, you can access it at any speed. My 2024 CX-5 Premium had the vertical graphs on the sides of the speedo go away after I had the oil changed. I messed around for maybe 2 hours on and off trying to figure it out. If you push and hold the knob that adjusts the display brightness that display will then toggle between off, bar graphs for MPG and miles until empty or the numerical display showing MPG, etc. The owners manual was no help until I finally scrolled past the pages showing the dash display. I've tried just connecting to the car and I also connected android auto. Neither of these work. People still can't here me very well. I didn't have this problem in my CX-5 but for some reason I do in my Mazda 3.
I love it too. Makes road trips at least half as tiring as before. Unfortunately Mazda doesn't have an effective version of this, but check out a newer Toyota with "Lane Centering" as well, it will also keep your car in the correct lane while cruise control is enabled, so all you have to do is keep your hand touching the wheel, and watch the road for anything sudden or unexpected where you'd have to suddenly intervene, but otherwise it makes road trips extremely easy to pull off. Other brand shave this too, but the only one I can vouch for personally is the effectiveness of the Toyota systems. Renting a RAV4 or Camry with unlimited miles included for your next road trip is a suggestion I'd give you if you're curious about it
cx-50 w steelies? Is that permanent or do you have your offroad tires on them? weird weird weird with the remote windows, gonna go do that on my cx-30 no idea if i even have a touchscreen. I don't understand the thing with the start button infotainment though- my cx-30 behaves like that when I DONT hit the brake and or shift button.
Adaptive cruise was a lifesaver on road trips but it can freak out if somebody cuts you off. Most cars let you adjust sensitivity. The thing I always turned off though was lane keep. I had a VW Passat and it almost crashed me because it misread lane markings I guess and tried to swerve me into the opposite lane.
My Mazda salesman couldn’t answer a single question I asked about my car after delivery. I had the car for two months before I knew what the auto hold feature was. I also didn’t know how to keep the side mirrors from tilting down when in reverse.
Interesting as well is the fob sleep mode. Not that you would want it to happen but sometimes it accidentally happens and you need it to turn off. This is noticed when suddenly your fob doesn't seem to be working.
In my 2022 CX-5 if I turn the knob for the side view mirrors there is another position to the right of the right mirror which will fold the mirrors in like when its locked. Very helpful for Drive-up ATMs and food pickups.
How about the hidden feature of where the cigarette lighter/usb port is? It’s pathetic they only have type c connection. Really annoying trying to plug in my dash cam!
The four click windows down doesn't work, no touch screen available(why would you want to anyway), haven't tried the others yet. Window winding up should have a safety stop if something gets in the way according to my manual.
I just purchased a 2015 Mazda 3 s Grand Touring and am still learning about all the 'bells and whistles' of this vehicle. I've found that accidentally multiple times my gear shifter has shifted right from "Drive" to "M" mode. I don't know how this is happening.. When I enter highway speeds is when I notice this..hearing what sounds like the engine is out of gear and look down and then notice the car is on "M" mode instead of 'Drive." I haven't attempted to use the "M" mode or the 'Paddles" yet, but assume these would be better if there is snow for driving. I find the "Infotainment" system to be non-user friendly, especially using the radio. I'm used to easily being able to scroll through all stations on my Hyundai Accent SE with controls next to the radio. Also, when I was traveling and there was a little snow and rain and I went into an semi-enclosed parking setting my BSM stopped working for a day until I figured out how to locate it not only to the left of the steering wheel but also on the steering wheel. I had to turn it on there to get it to work again. The BSM went out randomly again for several days and then started working. I washed the car, cleaned the bumper and around the rear-view mirrors to no avail, turned the BSM off and on several times but it kept flashing BSM OFF on my dash. My only options were to have BSM OFF illuminated without flashing or BSM OFF illuminated with flashing when I tried to turn the system 'on.' Sadly, a week after I bought my car there were high winds and the car in the parking lot nearest me damaged my car while I was briefly away from my car, likely their passenger door flew open and hit the lower side of my drivers panel and both created a 'dent and a scratch.' Today I noticed more scratches on my car. I would like to keep my car looking as nice as possible inside and out. I've been researching different options for cleaning products and so far got 'Leather Honey' cleaner and conditioner for the seats, and Chemical Guys Interior Car Cleaner for the dash and sides. I've been researching different options for how to clean, polish and wax the car. I also got a 'light' duty 'clay' mitt to hopefully 'disappear' some of the finer scratches. I heard it is good to use after washing my car. Is water alone ok to use with this or is a lubricant oil needed? I was also thinking of getting Turtle Wax One and Done Wax and Polish and Turtle Wax Protector and possibly even getting the older Turtle Wax that my dad used to use on his cars. Please share your suggestions for cleaning, polishing and waxing products you recommend as well as what has worked for keeping the rims looking their best! Thanks for any guidance here!

Hoew do you do it. i use the Mazda app to remote start. The climate control turn on but the the heated seats
@@bi2lel2 you just set your dual climate control on auto. Just push the button and the light will come on if it’s set. Set your preferred temp, and when you start your car it’ll turn the seat and steering wheel warmers on.

Does the apple car play touch screen work. on the 2023 cx5 premium plus?
For most new vehicles you don't have to fully disable the adaptive cruise control in the infotainment. Let me blow your mind. When you press the cruise control button to turn it on. Press and hold it and it will automatically switch to regular speed hold instead of adaptive. To switch back to adaptive, just turn cruise control off and turn it back on again. :) I would love to see your reactions to this!
DAMN! Gonna try.
@Mateusz Plewa Hell yeah, Let me know if it works for you!
This does not work on Mazda 3, CX-30, and CX-50. It does work on CX-5 and CX-9
@@jbgetawesome I HATE adaptive CC.
My wife and I share a 2021 CX-9. One of the top comments was regarding syncing your memory settings with the key fobs. This was the biggest tip for me; it’s going to be so convenient not having to adjust mirrors or push the memory setting buttons every time.
My mirrors on my 2019 CX-5 aren't linked to memory buttons. They have to be manually adjusted as we have the Signature model :(
How?
Good tips. How can you do that?
@@SteelRaider12isn't this the top trim & fl features are supposed to be available?
My last four cars have been Mazdas... an '07 CX-7, a '12 CX-9, an '18 CX-9, and now a '22 CX-9. I stumbled across the window secret, thinking it was some kind of malfunction, by hitting the unlock button only a couple times in the CX-7, happily finding out that it was a normal function. The 2012 CX-9 also had this ability, but was told in the 2018 and my new '22, that it was no longer a thing. 😒 I loved that function... I'm so happy to find this video. I'm going to try that the next time I go outside. 😊
My 2018 CX-9 had a touchscreen display. When we bought this new car, the salesman told us they took that feature away... so stupid, IMO. Going to try out the android auto trick here, too.... hoping it works. 🙏🏼🤞🏼
Thanks for these additional comment tricks, too, everyone!
Me neither, is just a great safety system.
And now it comes activated because people are so attached to their phones and always distracted.
I have a 23 CX5 and use adaptive cruise for over half my driving. what kind of crazy people don't like it?
You can switch to dumb cruise control by pressing and holding the cruise control button. 😁
Bro I’ve lost your channel and found it 2 years later amazing keep up the good work
You are so lucky, u just missed Robbie’s 1 year pause!
What? You're saying the shifters are there by just the paddles missing? That's a crazy easy thing to mod
Just bought a Mazada 3 turbo. You guys hooked it up. Thank you.
THEY GAVE ME AN INFLATABLE DOLL
Leaving the drive selector in N when turning off the car puts it into accessory mode, so you can listen to the radio with the engine off.
If you select P you can also get accessory mode by holding the lockout override button as shown in the video.
Other useful features****
-Remote Start: Change how long the vehicle stays running before shutting off automatically. (10-30min)
-Turn off auto folding mirrors: Side mirrors will remain out/open, even after exiting the vehicle.
Lol, I wonder how many people didn't get the taco holder joke??!!
That's because it's a stupid joke
The third “hidden feature” had 2 steps too many, it’s similar to accessory mode in an old school key car where you’d turn the key quarter way to have the infotainment system or even AC going. In my wife’s CX30 or even my 2018 Mazda6 all you need to do is once the car is off you just press the push to start button with no breaks or shifter knob and both the air and infotainment will come on.
Yup and you tap the gas pedal (or clutch) every once in a while so the car reset the 15 minute turn off timer.
Yeah but this stops the infotainment rebooting
In my car, 2023 H/B, you have to press it twice without the clutch or brake pedal depressed. I am not sure what happens when it is only pressed once.
(the start/stop button)
FYI, when you say AC, I hope you realize you're not going to get cooled or heated air, you're just getting air. And if you were in recirc mode when the engine was off, you're getting stale unheated or uncooled air when the engine is off. It just wastes battery.
Great video. Just bought a CX-50 turbo premium I’m picking up on Saturday and the infotainment system has me terrified. 😂 Thanks for the tips. 👍🏻
Congratulations! Actually the infotainment system is easy to get used to, though it has few quirks. Never been a fan of touchscreen in my older vehicle where my friends always kept touching it and leave smudges all over the screen. Now I don’t have to deal with that.
I agree with techenthusiast, once you get used to the Mazda "mouse" and buttons you wont want to go back to a regular touchscreen.

This is a safety feature… so if you have your parking brake engaged, the electronic parking brake will NOT automatically disengage unless you put your seatbelts on. You will think it’s broken but you are just not buckled up.

1. 3 Unlock clicks and 1 long Unlock click - opens all windows.
2. Apple CarPlay touchscreen on all the time.

In Europe there is a speed limiter as well as cruise control. If you have the limiter set and press the kick button it will override the limiter and speed up.
My 2024 CX-5 Premium had the vertical graphs on the sides of the speedo go away after I had the oil changed. I messed around for maybe 2 hours on and off trying to figure it out. Nice tips guys. I love radar cruise and wouldn't buy a car without it now. On my second vehicle with it now.

My 2019 Mazda cx3 doesn’t have the window down feature, wish it did.
Are those wheels also a hidden feature?
When I enter highway speeds is when I notice this..hearing what sounds like the engine is out of gear and look down and then notice the car is on "M" mode instead of 'Drive."
I haven't attempted to use the "M" mode or the 'Paddles" yet, but assume these would be better if there is snow for driving.
My only options were to have BSM OFF illuminated without flashing or BSM OFF illuminated with flashing when I tried to turn the system 'on.'
Sadly, a week after I bought my car there were high winds and the car in the parking lot nearest me damaged my car while I was briefly away from my car, likely their passenger door flew open and hit the lower side of my drivers panel and both created a 'dent and a scratch.' Today I noticed more scratches on my car.
PS: By reading the manual I found the 'hidden' key at the bottom of my key fob! That was fun.
The windows down thing doesn't work. Must be only for that cx50 model.
