Mazda CX-8 2.5 Turbo "Bus Ride" Up Genting On a Weekend Drive With Friends / YS Khong Driving

- This time we take the 2.5 loter turbocharged Mazda CX-8 up the mountain, but with 4 passengers.
Having passengers loads up the brakes and suspension a little, but the CX-8 takes it quite well.
We were pushing it quite a bit, and the biggest punishment is to the braking system, which got a bit hot, prompting the SCBS (Smart City Braking System) to issue a warning and cause the vehicle to go into limp mode.
It is just part of the safety system, and not a failure of any component, as everything was back to normal after it cooled down enough.
The CX-8 performed very well throughout the journey, and should be okay if driven normally.

Nice, the brakes even overheated with the relaxed drive. Most of us, even with spirited driving, might not overheat the brake. Uncle is legend.
I wonder did the rest of the cars in the convoy experience over-heating in their brakes or not? They were much farther and faster ahead of the Mazda.
@@findtheracingline It would depend on the load of their cars, but since most already have high-end brakes, probably not.

20:17 when a civic turbo overtook a cx-8 with 5 pax inside, triggered the rally gods in ys khong! seemingly overtook him back in 22:29 but i cant be sure. its definitely not the drive but the driver in it!

A curious question, why is the brakes overheated when going uphill? Is that because the GVC thing working too hard?
Because we were braking into the corners

I am choosing between cx8 2.5t and tiguan 2.0, and I am hesitant which one to choose. I have a family and a baby, so I don’t know which one to choose. Which one is better between cx8 and tiguan in terms of sound insulation and comfort? In terms of power, tiguan is better, and there are 4motion and Awd, which one is safer and more comfortable when turning or raining?
4Motion and AWD mean the same thing. Both are good, so just buy the one that appeals to you more.

ouch, brakes overheated and also transmission... it's a heavy car, so need to drive normal for that weight. Am I right sir YS Khong? :)
With the extra weight, yes, need to go a bit, just a bit slower, and it will be okay. I was just a little too fast, hahaha.

Curious, is the gvc thing like xds in vw? Like another term for the same function? Or they work in a different way to achieve the similar outcome while cornering? Anyways, nice video as always Uncle 💪🏼

Average size is okay. Taller guys may squeeze in but will be a bit tight.
Not sure why Smart City Brake Support relates to brakes overheated. From google: The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system is designed to reduce damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control (SCBS brake) when the system's laser sensor (front) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is unavoidable
The system senses the brakes are hot, which means the scbs will not function as well, so sends a signal to warn driver, and later goes into limp mode
Learnt something on this video. My cx5 also has many sensors. The other day i replaced the boost brake sensor under warranty. I didnt notice anything but detected by regular maintenance check.
