It's good to see a review that shows the full center console good job mate good detail
Really good and entertaining review. Just what I needed. 👍🏻
I'm trading in my car reviewing credentials tomorrow because the real reviewer has arrived.
Lol, I wish ;o)
Bob Flavin nooooo Bob, you're my absolute favourite
love my hatchback opel insignia 2.0 cdti 118kW. this review is pretty much spot on. keep this up!
Glad you enjoy it! Only one I ever made, unless I get a new car at some time :). Got rid of it eventually due to circumstances but still love the design, do not miss the hard suspension of the Sri.
Nice little review I really enjoyed it. I've just bought a lovely 63 plate SRI and I absolutely love it. It has plenty of power, tech, devours motorway miles in complete comfort yet handles the twisties really well. The steering is really direct for such a big car. I also think the interior quality and design is astonishing. Take care!
I have the 2011 SRI nice car and a bargain.3 years happy motoring so far. Mine is remapped and a joy to drive.
peter simpson what power did it make
How much extra did you get?
How is the insignia going for You would you recommend?...
Just purchased a insignia sports tourer. Can't wait to pick it up
would be nice for car advertisers to show these cars in their reviews, not everyone wants to see what they could have had but what they do get, best car review video I have seen, thank you for this RetroGamerVX,
Thankyou :o)
Spot on review. Straight to the point.. No arsing about
Hi , I have the 2.0 cdti 61plate.
The boot is 700Ltrs. I used to have a MK4 astra.
The quolity different is unbelievable. The insignia is
One of the nicest cars I've owned ,so far.
Thank you for your review.
Thanks for your compliments, hope you enjoy :o)
Excellent review, thank you . I cud buy an 11 plate SR turbo diesel auto(my preference) with full history new nr side complete front lights cluster(water ingress)
Unsure if it has Bluetooth or heated seats which are cloth.
Thanks to ur review I'm interested. Dull silver colour but we can't have everything!
As a cheap runaround for my off the road Audi A7 it makes sense for now.
How much should I pay?
How do u find rear visibility?
Are they 4 wheel drive?
Nice one mate. Great review!
You do a good job at car reviews!
Dom Allen Thanks, shame I didn't have a good lappel mic though :o)
Dom Allen WHAT!!!!!
any idea what gear box a 2012 2,0 cdti sri 160 hp has as i hear they give problems cheers
*I remember when my dad used to have an Insignia Sports Tourer CDTi.* He owned it from 8th March 2012 until 30th May 2014. It was a 2009 model on an 09 plate, and I remember the very day when my dad came home with it on the 8th March 2012 and I remember being very impressed by it. For starters, I thought it was very good looking for an estate, especially in the dark pearlescent red colour our car was finished in - called ‘Pomegranate Red’ by Vauxhall themselves. I even remember our first drive in it - shortly after we got it, we went to McDonald's in it to get something to eat.
Dad was very happy with it, and being the Elite Nav specification, it was also fully loaded with all the bells & whistles - dual zone climate control, leather seats (the ones in the front were also electrically adjustable and heated!), HID headlights, colour sat-nav, power tailgate, the lot! It even had the most powerful diesel engine available in the Insignia at the time - a 2.0L CDTi turbodiesel inline-4, with 157 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.
I also thought it was very refined and hushed and it rode very nicely on the motorway when we went to visit my grandmother in it when she was still living in Sheffield. And on long journeys I found it to be quite comfortable - in fact, I specifically remember when my dad took me to the Cadwell Park racetrack in it on a couple of occasions, and it rode beautifully. 👌
Plus, before my dad got his Transit work van in May 2014, he used the Insignia for going to work too, and during the time he used it to go to work before he got the van, it proved to be very reliable - in fact, by September 2013, the car had already had 100,000 miles on the clock in just over 4 years since the car was first registered in May 2009, and in just 17 months after Dad picked it up, he had already put over 25,000 miles on it from using it for going to work before he got his Transit! So yeah, like I said earlier, it actually proved to be very reliable!
Unfortunately, there was one bit about it that I didn't particularly like: its alarm system made use of volumetric interior sensors as part of that alarm system to protect the vehicle interior, by looking for anything that stirs the air inside the car. But then, seeing as this was the Elite Nav trim - which was pretty much the range-topping trim level before the hot VXR model - that was something to be expected in such a highly specced trim level.
Not only that, but those volumetric sensors also meant that whenever we needed to stop somewhere where waiting in the car would normally be an option for me if we were taking my mum's Hyundai Santa Fe (for example, the shops, the ASDA store at Celtic Point retail park in Worksop is a good example of this), with the Insignia, I had no choice but to come in with them.
Why? Well, because of these volumetric sensors, I was scared that if I were to wait in the car for them to come back - not that I would have wanted to if we were taking the Insignia - if the doors were locked, the alarm would go off while I was waiting for them to come back due to the sensors tracking every little movement I made inside the car. As a matter of fact, I specifically remember when I was 13 years old, when we had just parked up at ASDA Supermarket at Celtic Point and we were getting out the car, I overheard my mum telling my sister that I didn't like staying in my dad's car because of this.
_(Yes, believe it or not, I was actually scared of waiting in the car if my family were taking my dad’s car, even at age 13, as my dad had owned numerous cars in the past that had burglar alarms on them...)_
However, despite the fact that I was COMPLETELY terrified of being locked inside it for fear of its burglar alarm going off unexpectedly while I was trapped inside, it was still a brilliant car. So you can imagine my slight disappointment when, on 30th May 2014, my dad decided to sell it to We Buy Any Car 3 weeks and 1 day after getting his Ford Transit work van for his new job at Robson in Sheffield. So when the time came to sell it at the We Buy Any Car branch at the Lakeside Village shopping centre in Doncaster, I went with my dad for one last drive there in the Insignia before it was sold.
And that marked the end of two years of trouble-free ownership of our Insignia. I thought - and still do think to this day - that it was one of the best cars my family had ever owned, as it was reliable, spacious, comfortable, and, as I mentioned earlier, good looking for an estate. 👍
YAWN!
@@MRSTINSUL 😂😂 he wrote a novel 😂
Awesome I’ve just brought this car collect on Friday look forward to it I’m sad however the dump valve noise isn’t more noticeable though :(
Can anyone remember the air freshner that had 3 plastic gems and you used a pin to release the scent? My dad had one in his car and it was still smelling after a year lol. Nice video again Retro.
Gerard Cox Thanks :). Don't remember the air freshener though lol
Feu Orange
That's it! That's the one! Thanks man.
@@DrKincade legend! I used to have those air freshener like traffic lights lol
Nice cars to drive, so underrated.
Just ticked over 180k on my 130hp. To celebrate have done a full service. Belts, tensioners, pumps, gearbox oil, coolant, new kazoo for the turbo (which sadly doesn't sing a song when you open the bonnet anymore). Cleaned the EGR.
Technically my Insignia is starting secondary school this year.. !
Lol, good to hear your having a good time with it :)
@@RetroGamerVX Hahah not a good time like I had with the last half dozen Fords. No. Its not been fun. Lot of maintenance and a lot of stupid sh*t. Only engine I know that, fully serviced, with Mobil 1 and long tender kisses.. still sounds like an overworked canning machine.
Does this have cornering lights that come on as you steer? I do enjoy that feature on some newer Fords I've driven.
No, it doesnt.
what a lovely place to take a motorbike :) also nice car
great video. i just ought one the same color but the elite with cream heated leather. i love it up to now, though i do a lot of short trips so worry about the dpf. so far so good though
Thanks, yes exchanged this eventually due yo the hard suspension but you need a longer trip each month to keep tge dpf clear.
.... Cool, Next time I request 'Bodie & Doyle' theme and thermal imaging of engine. :)
Rob Robbie the theal imaging is planned as a separate video :o)
Mat Watson sure sounds and looks different in this video...
I know, was nice of him to do it :o)
My dad has one of these and they’re quick
I've just bought the same car... must say its a lovely car to drive and i am made up with it.
How has the opel insignia been going for You?.... Im looking to buy a 2012 or 2013 model. Would You recommend it?.
@@DublinDan fully recommend buying one mate.. i bought a gem for the money it hasn't cost me a penny only the norm running costs i made sure it had plenty of service history and receipts cheers
@@ForgottenHorrorchannel Thanks mate 💯
This has not xenon unfortunetly, do you know that?
I had one a year or two ago. The 2.0 CDTI, worst fuel economy I've ever had in a car. I drove from Sheffield to Doncaster, 6th gear on the M1. It did 21.1 MPG and used a quarter of a tank of diesel. And general day to day use it managed about average of 26mpg. It also had a chocolate gearbox, car was 4 years old and periodically failed to get into 3rd. I also had a 2.0t petrol version, that did 30 mpg!
Must have been something wrong, I always got about 42mpg out of it.
I'm getting on average 40 mpg from mine it's 2009 2.0cdti 160 bhp sri
I just bought vauxhall insignia 2.0 2011 it's bloody horrible on fuel £20 fuel gives me 60 miles frigging joke
Buick Regal was also the name of Kojak's car and he was bald, too!
liverush24 thanks lol
How do you connect to a phone
Only just seen this..... Here we have a review about an insignia that doesn't involve someone spending the whole time telling us how much better the mondeo is. ( it's not) I own a similar car to the one looked at here. 2011 sri 160 nav, even the same colour. Mine has the 6 speed auto. I chose navigation over reversing sensors as I don't really do a lot of close town parking but you do have to be careful. Brilliant car and very effortless on the motorway. I have rear eclectic windows on mine (no idea how car manufactures decided such things , probably draw it out of a hat) Hoping to get a new shape in 18 months... my currant insignia is barely run it though 🤔
The truth is these cars are as good as the "premium German" brands which have become a shadow of their former selves for reliability! Badge snobbery lmao
Enjoyed this 😊
Hi Andrew, thanks. Yes, I sold it last year but it was a good car in general. Only downsides were the somewhat firm ride and a lot of issues with rear brakes.
Oops, responded with my other account lol
@@RetroGamerVX lol thought I was going mad for a minute when I saw your username. What did you replace the siggy with? I agree the ride can be firm but I always get SRI spec in all my Vauxhalls I think you get a good lot of equipment and plenty sporty enough. What was the closing mileage with you? Mines only on 43 thousand:-)
Andrew Jones mine was around 80kk, I went fo a much softer ride after, a Volvo s80
@@RetroGamerVX Hope the Volvo gives you sterling service. 😊
Great review! Just bought a used one, fingers crossed.
Had one in the past. Very good car.
Id love to buy a 8/9 year old one - but ive heard so many horror stories of unreliabilty - is this true - im trading my old cordoba soon which is 15 years old
I had this for 3 years, no real issues apart from catching breaks and tailgate button failure, which was cheap and easy to fix
@@RetroGamerVX gr8 thanx for the info - good luck with the car - theres one for sale at 4k in a local dealer - everyone keeps trying to talk me out of it lol - its a very popular car over here in ireland - i love how it looks - interiors really nice - thanx for the reply
does it have heated seats pal
NORTHERN CARP FREAKS no
Nice whip as the kids would say.
Hmm? lol
Good review cueball, looking to buy one of these for motorway travelling.
My dad has an SRI , its nice very good quality body and mecanics but the interior feels a bit cheap compared to my ford , will stick with my 2009 fiesta thanks , exelent chassis , shame about the slow ass 1.2 :(
next buy is a focus SR3 , POWERRRRRR
EDIT , i will give you that , the wheel is loverly , best thing about the interior
Andrew Joy yup, had a 1.4 fiesta, always felt cheap inside :(
Mine feels good , dont get me wrong way more toys in the SRI but for example all the plastics feel a bit crappy and they squeek and creek if you press them or lean on them , nothing like that on my ford, solid as a rock.
EDIT
And love the fact that yours is slightly older , prefer the red LED displays over the modern blue ones , way too bright.
Lights on the visor mirrors are awsome too.
Andrew Joy yep, I get the odd creak but it all feels a lot more solid than my 2011 fiesta, but no match for the 1996 mercedes c I had.
fiesta must have gone down some , my 2009 is a rock , a slow rock :P but a rock :D.
2013 ST3 for me next , in orange if i can find one.
How many miles is this car good for
928
RetroGamerVX does Jeremy Clarkson. Except JC hates the Vauxhall Insignia.
Naa, that was Vectra he hated lol, the father of this one. Thanks lol.
Yes, sorry you are right about that. Still it gave Vauxhall the excuse of blaming him for poor sales. All the best mate.
I just want a runaround for a year until I buy my Audi a7...
So do I. My Audis off the road 🙄BTW the A7 is brilliant, best car I've owned and I've had Mercedes BMW and 4 previous Audis
Get the S Line if u can
Engine is very good. Gearbox even better.
I had to drive this Car for 2 Weeks in my life while my VW Golf was in the Workshop... it took me 10 Min to crash the entertainment System.... These were the worst Weeks of my Life
Jester Dyne how did you manage to crash it? Lol
Just hit the RPT button while Navigation is running many times... The Voice will talk forever... the press some random other buttons
Jester Dyne errm,..well there you go lol
as i said in another comment, my dad has one and the entertainment system was crashing , it was a USB issue for us , if you try to charge from the USB it crashes , we gave the dash a good whack sorted it .
As i have said before , nice car shit interior and interior fitting.
Andrew Joy lol, no problems so far :)
Why are they so bland looking? The vx line is better, I have a 58 plate vectra 1.8 sri and I think it looks so much nicer than the insignia, you know it’s an sri the insignia is just a badge and different style of 18 inch alloys. And by the way the 2.0 cdti is 158 bhp.
The Vectra kinda looks like a car designed only with a ruler. And there are different power variants for the 2.0 cdti
Well you would be wrong.bland my arse.
Handling is fantastic? Yeah if you like your car to roll over
You must be a really bad driver then
RetroGamerVX what has my driving skills got to do with the cars ability to stabilise itself around the corner? 🥴
Those handbrake are rubbish
I just bought a vauxhall insignia 2.0 diesel it frigging sucks fuel £30 only gives me 100 miles fukn joke
Then clearly it has an issue.
@RetroGamerVX what do u think is the problem
Mine is super economy on fuel. I only use BP Ultimate Diesel. (2.0 cdti 160bhp) and serviced every 6000 miles.
