Just bought one, great car. Excellent chassis. The handling is really intuitive. Even standard they are a fun car to drive.
If it's the older Insignia diesel watch out for the engine cratering on some versions. There's an oil seal for the oil pump that hardens with time and when that happens it's complete oil starvation in seconds. No prior warnings. Look into it.

@@kudlaty88r no not really I know a few people who own the same vehicle and had no issues. If you keep them serviced and look after them you will have no issues. I have had more problems with Ford's and Mercs.

Vauxhall is a British brand name, Opel is the name of the manufacturers based in mainland Europe (Germany) as that is where the cars are built. Edit: Thought I'd better add that Opel also have subsidiaries in Spain and Poland.

Driven the 2.0 CDTI and been a passenger in the SRI and my god they are fun cars the torque is very addictive too especially with a stage 1 remap looking to buy one for myself soon

I have an Insignia SRI, petrol, 165 hp. Weirdly, I managed to reach 255 km/h, and it was fully loaded with crap: two XXL briefcases, one double subwoofer in the trunk, plus myself and some other crap. I am very confident that without any luggage nor subwoofer, it can reach the maximum shown on the speedometer, which is 270 km/h. Unfortunately, I cannot check that, since can be done only on autobahn, and when I'm crossing Germany I'm always loaded (luggage, not drunk). Still, very reliable car, no rust, very silent and huge amount of space, front and back seats.
Your car is either significantly remapped and you don't know about it or the speedo is over reading massively.
165 bhp isn't getting you anywhere near 158 mph (255 km/h) and it certainly hasn't a hope in hell's chance of getting you to 168 mph (270km/h). You'd need at least 220 bhp to get to 250 km/h and about 300 bhp to reach 270 km/h. Even a VXR/OPC Supersport with 320 bhp, only tops out at 170mph (272 km/h). The VXR/OPC has nearly double the power of your car.
My remapped Insignia 2.0 CDTI has 205 bhp (207 ps) with 321 lb ft torque. Dragy GPS indicated just under 147 mph ( 237kph) top speed. Speedo was reading 155 mph (250 kph) at the time.
@@Jimbo8012 speedometer is ok - I compared the speed with the one from dashcam and from garmin satnav, and only 1.5-2 mph difference.
And I was thinking about being remapped, but that should be seen when doing full service, (including diagnosis) right?
You are right in your comment and yet, it does get me to that speed - mind you, very slowly to reach it...
Anyway, I'm not advertising here for Vauxhall/Opel. There are better cars in the same class.
@@corneliu-bogdansandru5628 - Your car is definitely remapped and/or has forged internals. Engine has to be pushing out a min 210 bhp, probably more. Even accounting for the Insignia’s low coefficient of drag, there's no way an Insignia is hitting 255 km/h with only 165 bhp.
It doesn’t matter whether your car accelerates to those speeds slowly. Most cars with under 300 bhp would take well over a minute (probably closer to 2 minutes) to reach 250 km/h.
I'd have your car checked to see what modifications have been done prior to your ownership. If you ever had to claim on the insurance and it was found that your car was modified, it'd undoubtedly invalidate the insurance and your claim.
You sir don’t understand simple physics
No way in hell that happened. I have a SIGNIFICANTLY tuned 2.0 biturbo vx-line(isolated cold air intake, vxr intercooler, upgraded turbos, dpf removed, egr blanked off, forged rods and head, 4cm lowered, race clutch, swapped gearbox and obviously remapped. Dyno read 289bhp, 570nm. After all these mods, on an empty car I topped out at 276km/h GPS and no matter what I did, it would NOT go any faster(even though gearbox and engine were happy to keep going). I simply did not have enough power to beat the air resistance despite lowering and hugely upgrading the performance.
With 165bhp you literally haven't got the power to beat air resistance(which increases exponentially past about 150km/h) and get to those speeds. You can blow up your engine and keep accelerating for years-you simply will never get to those speeds. Get your speedo checked.
I had the cavalier or vectra in Europe then it was only 1.8L petrol engine back in 1996 did have it upto 130mph on the Germany autobahn it was heaven as we can only do 70mph(ish) In the UK

@@lt.martincastillo5122 Sieht man aber selten solche Autos auf deutschen Autobahnen, mitn ISF find ich kaum noch Gegner ist fast schon langweilig geworden.
BMW, Porsche und Benz fahren oft nur kurz mit, ich vermute die Verbrauchen zu viel. Lambo und sowas ja auch, da kannst dann alle 200Km tanken. Der F scheint da der ideale Kompromiss zu sein zwischen fahrbarkeit auf Langstrecken und Leistung. In der Stadt sehe ich die ganzen R8 und sowas immer rumposen aber bis auf die Bahn kommen die nicht mit.
Dann sieht man mal einen Jaguar oder Posche oder sowas und dann ist es ein Verdammter Diesel die ab 150 Rückenwind brauchen.
@@NicoYoshimitsu Linke Spur sind halt oft Vertreter etc mit dem Passat und ähnlichem unterwegs und wenn man mal was "flotteres" sieht sind es meist auch nur irgendwelche 450PS Autos die zum mitschwimmen okay sind aber ab 250 auch Ihre Probleme haben.

Vielleicht lass ich die Sperre noch raus nehmen dass der F über 300 geht aber ob ich das jemals fahren werde ist fraglich dann alles über 250 ist schon sehr schnell. Ich fahre meist 180 bis 250Kmh, das ist für mich eine angenehme Reisegeschwindigkeit wo ich nicht ständig den Tod vor Augen habe weil irgend ein Trottel wieder ohne zu schauen rüber ziehen könnte und eben auch der Verbrauch sich in Grenzen hält, mit dem F schaffe ich so 500Km.
Welches Auto kannst du empfehlen was so richtig gut geht aber trotzdem Reichweiten von 500Km hat? Porsche, Ferraris, Lambo, AMG, BMW M ect. Kannst eigentlich alles in der Pfeife rauchen. Sind nett zum Posen aber wirklich fahren könnte ich damit nicht wenn ich ständig diese Tankstops einlegen müsste.
Ich nehme mal auch an die ganzen neuen Turbo aufgeladenen kleinen Motor im neuen RS, AMG oder M werden bei den Geschwindigkeiten auch ordentlich schlucken, kleinerer Hubraum braucht wieder mehr Drehzahl und ob ich jetzt 450PS habe oder 600PS so richtig viel schneller sind die auch nicht ob ich jetzt in 10 oder 8 Sekunden von 100 auf 200 brauche juckt mich nicht, da nehme ich lieber den Sauger, habe dazu noch dem herrlichen Klang und weniger Geraffel am Motor was kaputt gehen kann also den standfesteren Motor.

I have 220hp petrol turbo 4wd insignia and the acceleration difference is quite noticeable, also the RPMs matching the speed seems to be higher.

My insignia would probably throw a rod if i tried to make that speed! The old girl only had 126hp out of the factory.
I have astra with 104hp no turbo and I did 210kmph and max construction says 198. It held very nicely and felt safe.

i have reached once max speed ca. 215km/h on insignia 2.0 131km. first time the swirl flap has fell off near the speed of 200, and damaging turbo.
Second time after repair i reached the max speed and few second later the second swirl flap said bye bye, crushing the turbo once again.
now i have a new intake mainfold without swirl flaps.
wouldn´t you have piston/valve damage too if that happened?

20k km ago thats happened and everything still seems to be ok. Only engine came into the safe mode, the turbo has been smashed but engine worked well without any noises. after turbo repair its like new.

Fahre den Insignia in metallic gold mit 220ps automatik als Benziner. Unglaublich was dort ne Power hinter steckt. 260 km/h war Spitze. Dann ist aber auch das Tacho fast zu Ende.😅

@ACERASPIRE1Well I have a first gen insignia, 2.0t 4x4 with (originally) 220bhp (219 on Dyno, but it was a 12 year old car when I bought it). Just an ecu remap took it to 286bhp (Dyno again) and about 48 kg of torque, so by no means lack of power (either stock or remapped).

I have the 2015 model of this car, 2.0 diesel engine.. The highest i have run it up is 185km/h max... I am impressed with this... i guess i will try upto 210km/h next time🚀🚀🚀🚀🔥🔥🔥

I had 2009 160hp diesel grand tourer model on 20 inches wheels and ran it up to 210km/h with four passangers in Germany back in 2016. Miss that car!

Hallo Freunde, wisst ihr wie ich es beim Opel einstellen kann, dass mir zb nur die km/h angezeigt wird?
So einen hatte ich auch gehabt. Meinen habe ich umgebaut . Der hatte 20" Felgen, Tiefer, Doppel-AGA, Chiptuning auf 195 PS und ca 400 NM Drehmoment etc. Jetzt fahre ich seit über 3 Jahren einen Insignia 2,8 V6 OPC. Natürlich auch nicht mehr Serie. Und wie man hier lesen kann, sind da schon einige sehr neidisch drauf. Macht schon Spaß auf der Autobahn..und da haben einige schon blöd aus der Wäsche geschaut..😂

Brilliant car 2009 model cdti 160 BHP, apart from oil pump oil seal in sump goes hard ,£14 part bit of a job but worth it if oil light starts to appear in mornings cold start

I bought a second hand 2.0 eco flex 4 years ago, a 2011 model and although many people knock these cars I love mine, economical, £30 road tax, £210 fully comp (inc wife) plenty of power and acceleration, comfortable and I could pretty much get the price I paid for it, sailed through each MOT, only had the boot lock go in the first year with an eBay part for under £20…. No complaints here.
Thats so annoying, mine is a 2011 (60 plate) ecoflex too, but the road tax is £130 (still not terrible, bit worse than 30!) How come?

@@meikbe4589 I own Mazda 6 gh 2.2 for 7 years already. If you care and monitor the weak points like chain and injector seals you won't have to worry. In my case it's a bulletproof car.
Much rather have a Mazda 6 than a Vauxhall insignia. Mazda 6 had a nicer interior too, the Vauxhall’s interior falls apart

I'm driving a 2011 Insignia and everything is still in place. Yes, the car had issues but nothing that couldn't been diagnosed and fixed in a day and repairs didn't break the bank. VWs and BMWs in my neighborhood had bigger problems.

In living areas, villages, Cities etc. 50km/h is standard. You drove 80 and above.... NOT COOL m8. Police has a Internet Division and you can get problems if you show such behavior on RUclips... Losing your Licence for months, or live time and hundreds of €s isn´t a joke.

I have a problem with mine, its automatic 160hp stock, now it's remapped to 190hp. And the remapper said to me there is a limiter at 235km/h. I said okey, but i tried and the car remmaped with 190ps stopped accelerating at 218km/h and there is still more to go, but it doesn't want to and I don''t get where is the problem?! If you can help me someway?
