High 5s from an old Fart who commenced bashing cars with hammers in 1966.
I have a Vauxhall Insignia (61 plate) which has a bugged clutch (its an industrial term).
So......here on RUclips, I find your video.
Absolute Magic. Sir, you are a Prince upon men.
This is exactly how I started out in 1974, with mobile car repairs. This was unheard of at the time, Lithium battery power tools had yet to be invented.
Cutting to the chase....you have posted a very informative video for which you can be proud.
The protective cover over your customers driveway speaks volumes. Nothing pisses off a customer more than oil soaking into their lovely block paved driveways.
I know that you topped up the gearbox oil as a matter of good workshop practice.
May you advance in life and make a fortune, you've made an old retired Motor engineer very happy.
    Good luck and my respects.

John Sadler always nice to hear of previous experience from back in the day... really glad you took time to share.. it means a lot to hear from someone who’s actually done in a different manner and time.
Customer care as you know is something that cannot be taken lightly as it may overshadow your good work if indeed the place is not left as seen.
If ever you need a hand with your Vauxhall just send us a message.
      Kind regards.
      Kevin-Albert.

      @@WMCS .
      Thanks for your video !
actually, I dismantle MG Rovers now, but I started 'In the Trade' in 1966. I ran my own repair business from 1971 when mobile car repairs was unheard of. I soon acquired premises though, the places I've repaired cars out in the open. Down farm tracks etc.
      Love the Battery impact wrench.
I would say that your video is a standard to which other video makers should aspire.
I'll be looking for future productions.
      My Respects..

Thank you for the clear video which was really helpful in replacing the clutch on my 2014 Insignia Elite. Though I bought a mid range electric impact driver I returned it as it was not powerful enough to remove wheel nuts. Instead used 1/2 socket adaptor on a drill to speed up nut removal/replacement after loosening.. Though I have done clutches before, the gearbox removal and refitting is not as easy as you made it look! Also worth being careful of wiring on nearside lower arm as I broke the sensor that moves the lights with the steering. I also put together a printed timeline of actions which made it easier, rather than keep referring to the video. Happy to send to anyone. My friends are amazed at my doing this as I am 72! However I saved £1,000 by doing it myself, and buying SACHS flywheel, clutch and slave cylinder off e-bay.

Great work as usual Kevin. That was a useful tip for not having to remove the subframe completely too. Did you ever have one of these flywheels worn so badly that the secondary mass is so far out of alignment with the primary that it covers the flywheel bolts and leaves it impossible to get a socket on? Adds at least another half hour with an angle grinder.!

Drumnastix26 replacing the gearbox you could get away with the subframe still in. But you will have to disconnect the track rod end from the hub and remove the steering column pinch bolt and slacken the other side quite a fair bit. I’ve done it a few times and always managed.

My 2012 insignia Estate has recently started making a very mild kinda smooth grinding/rubbing noise when pressing the clutch pedal to change gear but only between 1st and 3rd and not every time. The noise also seems to come from the driver side not the passenger side where the gear box is. Any ideas what this could be? Some have mentioned the clutch release bearing but said the noise would be heard from the passenger side and not pretty much the driver side wheel. I'll definitely be using this video if I need to open the gear box. Thanks in advance.

Is there something I may be missing that causes the subframe to drop down more when you rest the gearbox on it?
My big worry is that I have a F40, rather than a M32. Am I doomed before I started? :(

    • @andrewparr2207
      @andrewparr2207 Год назад

Scratch that - all done! :) Did it a while back and all was good. Not sure if its a change in box - or mine was slightly different - but there is not enough clearance to get the box out. Mine is a F40 - and from the side has all the same markings as the video but I had to take off the gearbox selector tower on top of the gearbox to have it move into the space left by lowering the subframe. Great result! There are also a few different bolts - hex - but was no stress.

Does this.flywheel work on an Alfa 150 2.0 jtdm 125kw with F40 gearbox ? It's the same gearbox thats why i'm asking.

I wouldn’t know for sure. As different cars has different timing point from the flywheel.,even if parts fits like a glove it may not start at all.

On other Vauxhall videos I try and show other method of knocking outer shaft from inner joint.
So yeh you can separate it.

I've had my clutch on my insignia changed and the crankshaft rear main seal since then had the mechanic change it twice keeps leaking presume there not doing the seal properly got any recommendations how to step by step what to do

Hi Les. Are they using the correct tool to slide it on. Otherwise if it’s done just by hand the seal will flip and will leak every time.
