I’ve been using the MT-44 for a year now and I absolutely love it. Went for the original Sanwa 1S Li-Po battery, which is very handy, as you can charge it with a regular phone charger.
Isn't the M17 still backwards compatible with their older receivers? Please make a comparison with the noble nb4 Pro - which purportedly has < 3 ms latency with 2 channels.
Thanks for going through this. I was curious to see how this compares to the Noble NB4. The screen on the NB4 is color, touch, and looks to have a more responsive display. It comes with 2 internal batteries as well. I'm surprised at what a great deal the Noble transmitter appears to be.
I've used one, and it's impressive on paper, but using one racing, I felt it lacked a little bit of direct feel. They say 3ms latency, but there's more to performance than just latency IMO, I need to make a video on that someday.
I have the noble and hardly ever use it. The display is so sensitive for sun so when I'm out I can hardly ever see the display, a monochrome display is preferred.
@@ThatSwedishGuy Hmm, that seems odd. The color LED screen technology is ubiquitous at this point. It has been used on every cell phone since the iPhone was introduced. Can't you just turn up the brightness?
@@justaddafan yes and how expensive does the cell phone has to be before they are strong enough to be able to use them in sunshine, but a nokie 3310 still works perfectly fine in direct sunshine. The handset works great and so does the display, but to do a quick change when it's sunny isn't quick.
I couldn’t agree more! I was torn between the MT44 and the M12s-rs and went with the M12s-rs to replace my MT4 and couldn’t be happier! Its sad that sanwa is doing away with FH4. I have so many RX’s and i do not see a real need to upgrade. FH4 with SSR is faster than i can function lol. Might end up picking up an MTS just to have a spare! Good to know!
I believe it's just the mid level that doesn't support other protocols... FH5 only, for the MT-5.... but the M17 I believe still does FH3 and 4... may be the last to do so? I need a radio like the 4S that Razor is upgrading FROM, as I have 4 or 5 FH2 recievers...
I actually wonder, why nobody uses OpenTX as radio firmware, and something like ELRS for radio transmission? Yes, I come from quadcopter point of view, but I just can't understand, how for the price of two (or even one) car receivers you can buy entire quadcopter
Have used any of the telemetry or the lap timer? I’d really love to know what I’m turning on my own practice days. I’m picking one up tomm. Found one new in box for $250
Cool video, Even though i will probably not buy a Sanwa radio since they're receivers are really expensive compared to Futaba and Spektrum but i plan to buy the Radiolink RC8X next month and it will be my first premium full featured radio. I have a Futaba 4PM currently and i originally considered side grading to a DX5C but when i heard about the RC8X i knew i wanted that instead.
Let me know if you still have the MT-4S...and if you'd consider selling it....it's one of the few radios that work with the FH2 recievers like what came with MX-V radios. I have a few of those recievers and would like to upgrade at least 1 or 2 cars to faster FH4 recievers, but can't justify ALL new recievers. I don't race at a high level, or super often, I'm usually stuck in the RD booth... so not looking for a super expensive upgrade for myself. My son races pretty well, and he is likely getting the MT-5 for his 2 buggies, unless we can find a used MT-44 or something before outdoor season starts. Thanks as usual for all of you videos. Cheers!
Thanks Razor. I have been club racing a year or so with the MT-S. Will this have any quicker response time? or negligible? I am a B main level racer and I am using clone Rx's in my 6.2 and 74.1 buggies.
I believe it's faster, but the MT-S is already insanely fast, it's actually a little too fast IMO if you enable SHR, so it's already more than capable IMO.
I am trying to decide on a radio. It will be mostly for bashing for now but I may get into racing. I have been looking in the $200-400 range. I was looking at the Futabu 4pm, Sanwa MT5 and a flysky noble nb4 pro possibly. I cant find much on the advantages even of the nb4 pro over the regular nb4. I think it may have been you that said the regular nb4 had a dead zone in the steering and the curve was not very linear. I seen the pro you can adjust the servo frequency separately which is nice. Anyway I am just looking for opinions as its been awhile since ive had an RC car. Thanks
It's not one or the other, everything is related and a total package. Some people have $10k in cars, and drive them with a $20 radio. I never understood that, as the radio is the most important piece in communicating what you want to do in your head to what the car actually does on the ground.
It was just as u say... just the American name/brand of Sanwa products....they were always Sanwa... and no, the Airtronics brand is no longer a thing on new Samwa products, even the US versions are just Sanwa now...
@@RazorRC I'm seeing that. I'm one that don't mind the ready to run controllers. I have a tactic that came with an arrma car. It's my favorite rtr controller. I have a cheap flysky fs-gt3b. It's good. But takes 8 double a batteries. Ugh . I have a radio link rc- 4gs. I've hated it since I bought it. My cat chewed the antenna off the receiver. Since I didn't like it. I haven't fixed it or bought a new receiver. Now I like my cheap rtr controllers. Lol
Cheaping out on a transmitter is insane to me lol. Hundreds or thousands spent on RC's, batteries, motors etc then some cheapo chinesium radio that takes 8AA's 😆
Spektrum isn't reliable enough you won't see many racers here in the UK using Spektrum it will mostly be Sanwa, KO or Futaba. It's as much about how the radio feels in the hands and being comfortable as it is about all the features which most aren't even used. I was having so many faulty Spektrum radios in my shop I decided to stop selling them a few years ago, if you get a working one then they are decent
@@Luke-en2tk I used to be a Spektrum fanboy and to date haven't had a single issue with the equipment. But Horizon discontinuing everything 10 minutes after release is making me reconsider brands
I just bought the MT5, basically the same radio. An awesome upgrade for my very very old spektrum DSM DX3

nice, didn't know that!
Thanks for this review, just got a barely-used one. My first “non-Chinese” radio
Great walk through vid. After a year has passed since, is it still your favorite and in use? Would you consider the m17?

Dx5c feels like a rtr radio compared to the noble nb4 or radio link.
Just sucks that they wont offer receiver with gyro!

NB4 does not have a steering deadzone, there is a throttle deadzone by default but you can dial it out.
Is the code correct with 3022?

That's an insane price for a transmitter! It's the driver, not the electronics!
