Thanks for the great review! Could you do a tutorial on setting up Fail Safe, AUX-CH and ABS? They are great features but I'm not sure how to maximise the features.
I think that radio has the furthest range that I know of at 600m. I have a Futaba 4PV only goes 100m,had a Flysky FS-GT5 and was 250m, and the Traxxsas 2.4ghz transmitter goes up to 200m.So that is exceptional and is great for doing speed runs where you need to get as much distance in order to get up to topspeed.
The screw on the top, supposedly, is for a phone mount. The problem with that is that it interferes with the antenna, or visa versa. I think the range of the 2 is even further than the 1 if you use the dual antenna 7 channel receiver. This will be my choice for long range FPV on my buggy. If even looooonger range is needed, the port on the left side allows you to plug in a Crossfire Lite module and its receiver (also dual antennas) that will let you drive to the moon and back. The lipo pack is great, but buy it directly from Hobby King as the Amazon price is DOUBLE!

I been using the same Spektrum DX3S for about 10 years now. I use it on all my boats and cars. Been wanting something a little more modern but the Spektrum works. That being said I am getting annoyed with Spektrum. They make all kinds of new RX but not compatible with the older TX lile the DX3S. Also for my boats I love the MR3000 RX but they no longer make them. It is similar to the micro RX shown in this video but it is nice because it is a 3 channel but has dual throttle and steering inputs which is nice for my boats because all my boats have two motors and two steering servos so it eliminates the need for Y connectors. Plus the MR3000 is water proof.
I had a Futaba 4PV, Flysky FS GT5,Dumbo RC x6 and this. I have to say for the price that this is the biggest bargain. The range is the best of any radio I know of, the amount of features for the price, the gyro is the most powerful gyro I've ever used whether built into the receiver or even better than the external gyro. It's just a truly powerful you really can't use more than 50% gain and even this is far too powerful I think you need a really high speed servo to optimize the ability of the gyro.
It's got the same casing as the spektrum dx range of old! and I prefer that feel of transmitter it feels solid and it's good to have a bit of weight! When I used to race I can't ever remember thinking any of my transmitters were to heavy!
