Very nice build and video my only negative comment or question is why the preference of Dominoe style slots ? I am a retired Woodworker and Woodworking is still a hobby and passion of mine for alignment ive always used biscuits and to make the slots ive often just used a wing cutter in my router which is a fast and economical way of getting alignment When Festool hit the market with their floating tendon design ive never figured out why everyone made such a fuss out of it ? In my personal opinion the attraction to many was the allure and bragging rights of having a. Way overpriced. Tool to show off and really wasnt worth the money to do 1 function at least a router Can do many functions for the Woodworkers Although i did like your design i have made furniture and other projects with the biscuits that have all stood the test of time and another advantage is you can pick up a used biscuit slot machine for. Less money that it would cost to buy the supplies for your. Machine even though you said you had parts laying around they still have a value and most people wouldn’t have the America’s thing to use so would need to purchase some parts ? I am a guy that likes to think outside the box as well. And design and engineer my own solutions similar to you And not pay the high prices. If i can avoid it my other passions in life have been Boating and Vintage Automobiles and many times ive avoided buying a “ Speial” tool from a manufacturer and just made my own to get the job done usually those tools are pullers or some other removal tool designed specifically for only that one part and are very expensive those making the tools and selling them often state in the manuals or instructions that such tool number must be used Ive found thats not always true a lesson that my Father. Taught me growing up and now that he is passed ive inherited his tools that some of the ones he built or had built are still present in his boxes so i will often. Take those out just to admire my Dads work as i was usually present when he Tested them for the first time and saw his satisfaction

Hello and thank you for watching and commenting! Those notches are not for domino style slots. What I did was make notches in vertical pieces of the door and cut “fingers” on ends of horizontal pieces that go into slots. This is also a time tested technique that is relatively easy to implement. Back long time ago, I used to do woodworking and wood carving for living.. never really liked woodworking because it’s dusty, noisy and pointless. I used to make really expensive custom pieces which ended up collecting dust in expensive houses where I wasn’t even invited. I like metal much better because I can make something from metal that is used to make something else.
      Thanks again,
      Cheers.

Might want to consider an upcutting router bit for the mortising action instead of the drill bit. Might work a bit smoother! :)

Those are little harder to come by, especially in longer sizes. But, I agree, they’ll leave a much better finish!
      Cheers.

Replace that drill with a router. The chuck on that drill is clearly moving in and out, also a drill won't like the thrust perpendicular to the cutting tool.

Thank you for your comment! This drill is the most powerful I have and the chuck is moving because this drill has hammer function. Besides, router will not give me an option to make a 2-3 inch deep channel at 10mm width.
      Cheers.

Thanks for watching! Good luck finding one for cheap and then finding place to store it. I only needed it for one project and already had stuff laying around for it. So, whatever works for you, it’s only for you to decide.
      Cheers.

@@TinkeringNerd I'm being a bit factious, having a bunch of spare parts from projects past would make this much more helpful though. Otherwise viewers are hard pressed to find comparable staring materials...

The purpose of this video is not to be a model to follow, but to demonstrate that anything is possible with enough motivation and creativity. I hope it inspires someone and possibly gives an idea of how to approach a project like this.
