This is my version of a slot mortise that I spent a lot of time designing with quick setup time in mind. no measuring required can be used completely with reference marks. I got inspiration from matthias wandel's slot mortise. the left and right stops also have reference marks for different width tenon stock.

Wicked cool design. You deserve a standing ovation... All I hear are crickets...
This is a great design - one of the best I have seen. Would appreciate a follow up video showing how you constructed it.
Love the simplicity of the sliding height adjustment.
Hi Ryan!
Being coal is not just making things to show off.
That being said, not only you have made one of the best router tables here on youtube, but also have been generous enough to share with other people the plan of you table for free .
This is what is being cool about.
Thank you again, and keep it up!
Very very cool. Really love the wedge for height adjustments. Brilliant.
Elegant, compact design - nice!
Domino go home :D like it :D
Engenho com muito bom desempenho, preciso e eficiente. Parabéns
jently work
Ditto!
Yes quite well thought out and effective.
Who needs a thousand dollar+ Festool
Those locating pins are such a great idea.
The thing I love about this is that the design is so simple and efficient that I feel I could make one. It would be silly not to try this.
Ingenious design.
All adjustments are quick and simple to perform. It's almost idiot proof!
A cleaned up design and made from quality cast or machined metal and you could be looking at the new Workmate! Get your design patented to protect yourself. Thanks for taking the time to upload.
+goober650NX thank you!!
You are so smart man , big company should have you as a designer mate 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤
Beautiful. Quick and simple. I especially liked the double wedges for table height adjustment.
Rewatching your old videos, the wedge set up is really neat.
Excellent Job. I Love it. A lot less bulky and less cumbersome than some of the other models I have seen. It is efficient and precise. Good work.
Best design on youtube. Great job.
The table height adjustment using pairs of wedges each side is a neat idea. Good vid...
That is a REALLY set up. Looks fairly straight forward build. And I LOVE the miter saw clamp use. I too have never used mine. (So if I can just find it!?! I'll be golden!! 🤣
Seven years later, those crickets keep chirping. Nice project!
Some pretty slick mechanisms. I'm impressed
Thanks, glad you like it!
ShopBuilt I really love this design but I’m having trouble finding your plans. Could you please send me a link to your plans?
Brilliant ! Good mechanics, good looks.
Very very nice. I have watched your video several times and am totally inspired by your slot mortiser. I will give this design a try. Thank you for a great jig!
Just f-ing brilliant, so efficient & easy to use. Nice work!
Thanks, you are a good friend, you share your knowledge without receiving anything in return. Good job
I like the relatively small size of your horizontal mortiser. Many of the designs on RUclips are just too big to be practical and portible. Nice job!
Beautiful! I LOVE that wedge concept for adjustments!
Brilliant wedged support system
Compact, easy to operate and we need just a little space! Congratulations...
I like the simplicity of this one
This will be my first thing to built as a newbie in woodworking. Thanks for the informative video, and I like your idea.
Keep up the good word
That is cool. I wish I had watched this before I built mine. I made the table advance and the router move sideways, lifting it with a lead screw from a vise. This is simpler and more compact.
I like it. it's solid, practical easy to use, and no hardly any guesswork. It's simple.
So are you demonstrating it for patent, sales or are you passing it on as a free design?
What's going on with the plans?
You sharing or holding onto your creation? Which is quite good?.
You going to do a DIY vid or constructional video? How-to video?
Nice and compact design. Awesome job. I hope the plans are coming soon.
Thanks for sharing
Impressive. I love the double wedges for height adjustment. Great job!
I like this design very much.
Bloody brilliant design on the thickness table adjustment!
I guess the next big thing for this slot mortiser would be to make the base of the router "pivotable"(is that a word?), then we could use it as both a slot mortiser and a biscuit jointer (yeah, I'm crazy like that!).
If you're willing to go that route, you could just add a plate on top of the part you call "horizontal table" with a pivot pin in the dead center and reference hole for the 0 degree (parallel to the edges of the board) and a circular slot with a knob to tighten the angle. The reference hole would be used to put a pin in it to tighten the knob and make sure it is always at 0 degree, if you would like to use it as a biscuit jointer, you would have to remove that pin and untighten the knob...
With your already existing slot mortiser, I believe you would only need to change 2 parts (the horizontal table and the face plate of the fence support (since the slot would be higher due to the newly added plywood plate to pivot)
I really like that design and I might make it myself, with the biscuit jointer option I just mentioned to see if it would work but for now I have to make a lot of room in my garage to be able to start somewhere :)
Great little design, well done.
Smokin'! Great design, great execution. Looking forward to the plans.
Nice. I like it. I love the sound of the peepers. We have them here also.
Very nicely built machine. I hope to see a project in the making soon so as to appreciate it's functionality. Kind regards.
Wow, brilliant design! Very compact too. Bravo smart guy!
Love the height adjustment mechanism! Great design! :)
very useful design, nice job!
Very nice. Kudos on the elegant design. Perhaps a small rip fence and a couple of self-adhesive measuring tapes would be useful enhancements.
Excellent solution! I really like the quick and easy setup. Thanks a lot for sharing!
All of the thumbs down came after a Festool meeting and they were told to go and give this a dislike! LOL
As usual, well done and I'm constantly impressed with your problem solving skills. I'm a relatively new sub, so working my through just now. Thank you for what you do. Tony
Great, simple, effective design. Great job.
Excellent design and great build, works nicely
Wow what a fantastic build, can't wait to have one. Many thanks for sharing !
Awesome design, very nice build!! Has to be the fastest set up that I have seen. Have you thought about either doing a video while building one of these projects or providing plans? Anyways, really cool build!!
Well done, like the wedges looks like a great design
great design. perhaps a good modification could be full extension hinges that allow the platform to slide right out for cleaning wood chips etc?
Very nice tool. Congratulations for this brilliant idea.
Very cool! I'm glad you post these videos for all to enjoy!
Thanks, glad you enjoy them!
Both setup and operation seem quick and easy and the results are great!!
Very elegant!
I think if you had plans available there would be a lot of interest. I have a mortising machine based off of a Shopnotes design; it's a vertical design that uses a bench screw to raise and lower the router.
Your design has a much smaller footprint..
Did you design on the fly or did you have a plan designed prior to construction? How long did it take to build?
Great video about a beautifully made mortising machine. Very nice.
Very nice compact design, the wedge adjustment is just as simple as it is effective. The only thing I saw that needed a little improvement was the set up mark for centering the height in the stock. I've had some trouble when I drilled dowels off center that when gluing it split out the (narrow) side. (y)
thanks for the comment. I think the reason why the mortises are off center is because when I scribed my reference mark on the work piece I just did it by eye and I was off.
Shop built I went back and looked at the video again and you did make the mark off center and when you clamped it down it went down a slight bit more.
Nice build! Great work.
Good job on making that, not much to fool with. Thanks for sharing.
That idea is brilliant very well worked out
I have looked at 3 other homemade mortising devices and yours make the most sense to me. Would be willing to purchase the plans (just like all the other's)
Clean, quick and slick!
Nice job. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the plans. Off to the shop.
Np, thanks for watching!
Very nice design. Great job!
GREAT video. very smart design. might have to look into building one of these for the future.
I glued ptfe strips on the sliding parts, works like a charm !
Fabulous design.
Super dooper , man this is really neat !
I was seriously looking at a Domino. Man am I glad I found your video! A sketchup plan would be very much appreciated. How bout you send me the mortiser, and I'll do the plans? Guess I won't hold my breath. Thanks for putting this out for all of us who are not so inventive.
Excellent! Simple, accurate and to the point! Awesome job!
very basic but pure beauty mate very nice set up
A very clever machine (Jig). Lovely job.
Very simple and useful. I have one point to make. Instead of pulling and pushing by hand for adjusting the height why not we use a
long screw with a knob ?
This is very efficient. The height adjustment is super smooth. Do you have any dust issues when doing multiple mortises?
yes, its very dusty. ill probably have to come up with something for this problem. thanks.
Thank you for creating such a simple, but effective machine. Please also let me know when plans will be available.
One thing you could do while the temperature is still warm in the garage is a second video where you measure all the parts with a scale and give the measurements in the audio. Dimensions, angle measurements, and the such will allow us to figure out the rest. Once again, thank you.
Thanks Steve, glad you like the mortiser! I have started the plans and a web page to put it on so I'm hoping it will be ready by oct. 17 along with a build video. But very busy so please don't hold me to this date.
Wow, out of the box mechanics. And compact. What type bit are you using. And thanks for sharing your idea
This really is a neat machine! Thanks a lot for publishing it.
I have 1 question though: Where does the clamping down spindle come from. I definitely like the quick release mechanism!!
How long did it take you to build it ? That looks awesome.
Beautiful work! A piece of art for sure!
+Sleepydog thanks!
Shop built
Thanks for sharing, looks like a nice project. I am looking forward to more.
Excelente diseño, muy simple pero bien diseñado, felicidades, Saludos desde Venezuela, Caracas.
This was really well thought out! And easy to use. Good job!
Brilliant design. Only thing I would like to see different is the fact that the router bit has to travel through 3/4 inch before it reaches the stock. Would b good if the router could have nothing between it and the stock being cut. Other than this, the design and function is really awesome imo.
a bit overbuilt but looks very good. you can somehow add a self centering, maybe scissor like feature on the front side, or another method, if you use it often with material-centered slots.
i would prefer a portable version of this, that i could clamp on the wood itself :)
Vocês marceneiros americanos estão de parabéns ,trabalhos exelente..
so falta eles quererem nos ensinar colocando as medidas
Great stuff Ryan. It's about Quality. Your videos and designs are excellent. Looking forward to Plans and Write-ups to go with some of these.
Thanks, it means a lot!
A great home build that is easy to use.
great work and that country song in the back ground sounds just as good. 👍
I like this! Very good project.
This is brilliant! I love it. I certainly like to build one of this.
Great design and very nice video explanation.
Thanx!
what kind of sorcery is that ! It`s fantastic. I just might have to make it. Thanks. Also, been watching alot of your videos and just found out you`re in St-John. I`m in Moncton and have been really getting into woodworking this past year. Thanks for all the tips.
Add a dust collection hood on back side with a common vacuum hose end.
Excellent design...
I like that it is so safe to use.
que máquina tan chingona te armaste..!, felicidades..! y mucho éxito.!
Works a treat great design too
Awesome job, with great looking results!
awesome tool, looks so easy to setup and use,I'd like to attempt to build one for my shop, thanks for sharing.
Nice job..all the updates too.
Very nice , great setup , Thanks for posting.
