Matthias, this is simply briliant! It is such a joy & privilege to see a woodworker making & designing his/her own tools rather than hocking high priced equipment they were given as a promo! You are on the path to be a true pioneer in our beloved craft!

Wow look at those knobs he made for the stops. So nice and comfortable looking, and made of wood. WOW!!! This guy really introduces a whole new generation of the power of wood. All those brackets he makes, all out of wood. They are all so clean and solid looking. Wood is way cheaper than aluminum, and easier to work. The part just has to be slight bigger, but that is okay for most applications.

As always, this is an awesome piece of engineering. BTW, both of the style of slides that you showed in the beginning are telescopic. The difference is the ones you like are "single extension", while the ones you feel have too much play are "full extension". Just thought I'd clarify if others want to track down a pair for their projects. Matthias, as always your videos are educational and entertaining. Scott

If you just want to make one and your low on budget, the are plenty of small 1/4" 6mm collet routers from diy shops such as screwfix, toolstation, wicks, b&q, AVOID Homebase and such in the uk. There all kinda based around 4" angle grinder motor assemblys and there not that awfull and will set you back around £20-£30. Once you have stripped the plates and stops of there nice and round and easy to fix to stuff.

Hi Matthias, what brilliant combination of new-video with this old-machine you've made. Excellent!
What I was wondering is what kind of router are you using for this? I live in the Netherlands and I can't find any router like this one you're using. All the routers I see here do have an oval shape with knobs on the sides so you can handle it more easily (which I find very unuseful since I want to use it in the purpose of a mortising machine like this of yours).

Those kind of router are also made by Bosch in Europe. From Bosch, you can find the GMF 1400. But this router is pretty expensive !
Maybe a better deal would be to buy a very low-cost router, and add on it a better collet.

Both smarting and work. You can figure stuff out in time, too, but you need to start figuring. If you waste time all evenings, of course you won't get anything done. You need to start building from simpler things, of course, and figure out what works. This person has figured out gears, joints, etc...
