Zeaxanthin in the human body protects the retina from the sun's harsh rays. Therefore, both plants and people require zeaxanthin to protect from excess solar radiation. The lady was probably thinking of that research but mistakenly refered to it as photosynthesis

Well I see 3 types. First, every FE'er I've seen who was asked about other conspiracy theories enthusiastically believed them long before they ever found Flat Earth. Humans or any other living physical specimen other than plants cannot photosynthesize. You may have made a comparison to how photosynthesis and humans in a way have similarities, but the woman in the video did not. I'm sorry, but that's really not convincing for three of the four- the flight crew respond in terms of how they fly- not if they believe the Earth is flat. The last one I'll give you that- but from my experience working on deck watch on my school's training ship- we account for Earth's curvature for what we observe. One guy's beliefs does not translate to a whole conspiracy theory being true.

I always worry about Guy's interviews as these are sometimes satirical. I really can't tell which this is. This is either frighteningly well done, or is just plain frightening.
That is the thing about flat earther's. A fair percentage if them are spoofers but they play it with a straight bat. It's impossible to tell who believes it and who thinks it is hilarious.

Well I see 3 types. First, every FE'er I've seen who was asked about other conspiracy theories enthusiastically believed them long before they ever found Flat Earth. In fact the arguments made by flat earthers are flat out (pun intended) stupid when compared to even religious arguments for god....at least religious people assume god is real without any scientific evidence for or against him. Flat earthers can literally look at evidence for the sphere in the face and say "its flat that's a NASA conspiracy" of something similar. Flat earthers and religious people have something in common though, and that is that they start with a conclusion and try to prove it rather than working the other way around

this going to be a bit of a long response: i have both a working knowledge of the bible and a theological grasp of the texts. as you have heard, a text without a context is a pretext. equally, a grasp without understand the audience to whom the scripture was written causes unstable people (or those who refuse to learn) many issues.
the text these flat earth people cling go are matter of fact statements the LORD writes in the bible "because" in the language of the time they would have understood what God was saying to them. However, none of them would have said, hey, the earth is flat. even today, we use the same type of expressions to convey complex to simple issues to make what we communicate clear.
not long ago, i ran into a flat earth guy who is a preacher. he started quoting all the stuff they stand on as proof of a flat earth. he did not want to hear from someone who understands the bible better than he does since he stands in that high place of high knowledge and anyone that does not hold that position is ignorant. you can not communicate the fact the the LORD is talking to people lacking our current technology and he would therefore talk to them as those who are at a different level and need an other lexicon to understand what he is saying.

Self directed learning can follow a similar path if the person is careful and disciplined. It can lead to uncritically taking on board a great deal of bullshit.
