That being said, if you have the ability to just chill and enjoy it without other woes, it can be really great. Gets you away from normal life and its issues, and just lets you really live in the moment. While I couldn't live like that full-time, for a week or so it can be a really great experience.

When I moved to Collingwood the Gallery was just a basic coffee shop, and there was nothing in the yard beside it. Then Nganga arrived, and the energy levels went through the roof. You could feel the vibe in the air, and the location is perfect for visitors because the Farewell Spit Tours Base across the road would bring people in for a look around. The Motor-camp is just down the end of the street, past the Hotel where you get a really good feed in the restaurant, or takeaways. Well worth a visit but whatever time you are looking at stopping, double it, then double it, then triple that because you will just not want to leave. And don't forget a full days visit to Wharariki Beach up near the spit, plus a walk along the spit past where all the whales die when they get beached. It is truly out of this world, and worth a road trip but I warn you, you will be back. Take your hippie clothes, you will need them. And your guitar.......
