I’ve got over a decade of audio engineering experience. I’ve tested all the mixes and Home Theater is the most balanced. Hi, thanks for mentioning, there are various kinds of headphones and how they respond in Bass (Low-Mid-High bass) and the same for treble, if the bass (100-250) is high in a headset than the neutral target, then I'd highly suggest stereo; if everything is close to target but only weak in treble (mid, such as 4K to 8K) it's best to not use 3D, because that makes sounds muffled especially that MW3 doesn't use Tempest 3D Engine. overall, due to multiple factors it ended up in some missing concepts, to make it simpler: 1- If a headset is only weak in treble, using soundbar would be good, you won't feel too much of gunshots loudness 2- I suggest stereo audio if with your current mix and settings, the game sound muffled (Based on how your headset sounds)

I think sometimes my hearing is different. I am on a $18 headset plugged into controller on PS5. Audio is set to stereo and sound bar in Warzone. I can hear better than what I expected including footsteps. It comes from years of listening to COD audio. It is true to train your brain. COD is fun when you do this and predict what people are going to do. When you learn to not get excited and listen for minor audio ques, if an enemy changes direction is the difference. Sometimes I get called a cheater. Settings help but you have to put the time in to understand this.
The biggest issue is by far the audio priority systems design, because it is designed specifically to adjust the sound levels on the fly based on the priority, this is why search and destroy players always complain about footsteps being ridiculously loud, and respawn players in more active matches, complain about not hearing the footsteps at all. I remember reading about the system during MWII, they said theyre trying to simulate the way the human ear adjusts to some sounds being louder than others. Our ears are already going to do that, why similate it when it already happens? In old cods you could manage to pick up on footstep audio with harriers loud jet engines blaring. Sure it was harder, but the actual volume level of the footsteps seems the same. This is an online multiplayer, that insists on strict sbmm, and has a competetive league, just give it a consistent audio mix. Set each thing at a specific level in the audio mix, obviously tie it to distance, even add occlusion/reflection. But footstep volume shouldn't be going up or down 20db in the audio mix depending on if there is gunfire, or streaks. This is especially interesting when you think about warzone, I've seen some clips where the footstep audio was non existent, due to a fairly distant airstrike. It was far away so its sound level was lower, but its priority was presumably still high, forcing other lower priority sounds to decrease in volume. Its unnecessary, and negatively impacts the consistency of using audio cues in potentially competetive environments.
I agree on many of points you made, exactly we wouldn't need such strict incomplete audio design in an MP game! sure it could be nice in story games but when it comes to COD it's so inconsistent.
Great video and info!!!!! Never stop doign what you do!!!!!! Very awesome. I was playing with these setting and noticed a lot of what you are talking about. It is easier to notice the differences with a cheap haeadset too.
Great video and very interesting!! You open a great debate, perhaps a future video where you try integration with the PC would be interesting, it is clear that it is below the equalization options through a PC. Perhaps a video with the possibility of seeing the use of a DAC that enhances the sounds of footsteps would also be interesting. Thanks and great job!!
I’m glad I I was able to give you the idea to do this my dude I suggested it on your Discord and I’m very grateful that you did it. Thank you very much and I’m very grateful you producer content and thank you for making this video. I appreciate you greatly.

You want to hear footsteps better in COD ? Start by throwing your "gaming" headset in the trash and play with IEM's. There's a reason why the majority of streamers use them now. They have a lot clearer, cleaner sound and pick up a bunch more detail.
Love the video…… but understanding it and applying it? I’m lost. I’m on Xbox with a DAC/Amp from the Astro A40’s, and use the P38X headset from Sennheiser. Trying to make sense of where their strengths and weaknesses are and apply the correct settings and EQ settings. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your time and all your content! Subbed!
Hey dan good vid again… one question, what controller do u prefer for small hands ? Edge or apex 4 ? Which have better back buttons placements for small hands ?
Hi, it's a bit hard to tell, but Apex 4 is probably better for smaller hands, + you have 4 back buttons, the distance between L1 R1 L2 R2 is also less than Edge in Apex 4.
I am a pro sound engineer/dummer. And always gamed since 98’ so I got an Apollo interface, now I use it as my main audio interface and only. It has one of the best compressor’s ever created LA1176 so I use it and a Fairchild EQ… it’s all good and perfect for me with tons of dynamic and limiting controls but it is 1K$ for the interface but I am a pro creator so it was worth it in Warzone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for all the tips
Multitasking is a myth. The brain can only focus on one thing at a time. Some people may be able to switch focus faster than others but it is still only one subject at a time. Also, not everyone hears the same frequencies the same. Younger people tend to have a larger range and old people tend to lose the higher end frequencies.
Thanks for adding additional detail and information to this video. It's even more interesting that even the same person may not hear the same with both ears, even on ideal situations with no problem in their ear.
@@DanielZH having a consistent good seal helps. Consistency is more important with In Ear Monitors/IEMs because of the way they go in the ear as opposed to covering the entire ear with a headphone. With IEMs it can sound great and then you move it for comfort and the whole auditory experience changes.
Hi, thanks so much, what do you mean meet warzone? Are you looking for a specific result? in the next video I show how to use Edge settings to get a real linear curve
@@DanielZH What I meant in details , the sensitivity in MW3 Warzone differs from the PS5 console joystick sensitivity. Hi, Pulse 3D is an OK headset, however since season 4, the footsteps are quieter overall, I felt the same and that was one of the reasons making this video!
Danial clarify this about controllers I read this today, “DUALSENSE controllers are 250Hz over USB and 800Hz over Bluetooth, the same as DUALSHOCK 4. All USB ports are locked to 250mhz unless tampered with, so if you plug your controller in, you are at a lower poll rate, whether you're on PC or PS5. If you plug your controller in on PS5, it will still work at 800mhz, unless you change an option in your settings to allow control via USB. If you change that, it will allow you to control via the cable but only at 250mhz. Have at it, but unless you're playing in an environment with lots of radio disruption / microwave use, you're not going to see any benefit with a cable. There's quite a bit more to add re polling points and calibration fudges, but it's not necessary here.” Is this true? On ps4 I know the ports were limited to 250hz but is it like that on ps5 too! You tested it but isn’t that or wouldn’t that be showing what the rate is for on pc since ur running it through that? Correct me if wrong
Hi, the method I used for testing Edge is copying the USB signal with a USB Dev kit where it'll show the current status and when it was connected to PS5, it was at 1000Hz polling rate (USB) not sure how they tested that, but I'm currently incapable of any other kinds of polling rate tests on Console as the PC in between is the only method, however when we test input lag in-games, and Edge has a lower input lag, that proves the polling rate is probably higher in Edge, or I might be wrong, but one thing that I'm sure about is that Edge on USB has less input lag on PS5 than BT.
Hi, i would like to see your measurements on gunshot frequencies and maybe some compressing settings.. i would really like to lower them, not for footsteps, but to prevent blowing my eardrums.
@@DanielZHThank you, sir. That would be much appreciated. I use DT 900 pro x with toping e30 ii stack, some eq and a bit of compression in equalizer apo. But still needs some further investigation.
Hi Daniel, what lg tv sound settings do you recommend for jbl flip 6 ? I connect it through my tv via bluetooth . Should i bitstream or pcm or dts? Thank you😊
Yo Daniel I figured out something that will blow your mind with the dualsense edge. Instead of using quick on the left stick in cod try using precise on the least curve setting. Like the one closest to linear. You barely notice it while moving but I swear to god it jacks the crap out of aim assist because it makes your left stick WAY more stable while aiming. Time for a new video haha.

This has NEVER been an issue in any game I’ve played EXCEPT FOR BLACK OPS 4’s BLACKOUT MODE. I just wanna unlock Dempsey and I keep getting sneak attacked 😭
Hi, based on the OG profile I've seen on Rtings, TV mode or Soundbar should be best, as Bass is already too high on 100-120Hz, it's best to change EQ, fix mid and treble, then 3D Audio would be good too.
Yes! I also sometimes use stereo speakers, because using headset a lot may cause headache. Depending on your TV speakers capabilities and how loud it can get, I suggest either headphones mode or soundbar, however if the TV speakers are weak, TV mode could be a better choice, and 3D Audio for TV isn't recommended at all!
Hi, for hyperx cloud 2, based on Rtings Response test, I suggest not using Bass boost (never) but also trying soundbar mix or TV mode, since highs are weak in 3 to 5KHz, try using EQ and make it neutral with the provided link if you're on PC or if the headset can save EQ on itself.
Honestly the game is just inconsistent with the footsteps. Some times i can hear them a mile away. But other times i hear them when the enemy is already right behind me. Or other times i dont hear them at all.
@@DanielZH welcome 🤣. You see i was talking about ps5 and not pc. And right now if you can share the best eq setting for new steelseries nova 5 p it's will be cool.
@DanielZH it's funny, in the patch notes they said they improved audio. Also I started having this problem like yesterday, and it isn't just footsteps, it's everything, even the game menu sounds super quiet, but when I shoot a gun it's ear piercing loud. It's like I have the biggest dynamic range ever, even though I'm using sound bar.

@@taukoj thanks for the input
I didn’t know about the vids on AIW
I’ll keep it in mind, thanks 🙏
What’s the best seetings for my Astro A50 X & Ps5? 😊
I can hear alot better with the pulse elite now. Thanks. You should do a monitor settings video for hdr and sdr for warzone . That would be awesome
Glad to hear that, Pulse Elite is good but I hope they fix the high pitch noise when there's no audio, Thanks for the idea! I already have an HDR - Graphics settings for this game here: ruclips.net/video/529DN5Dfnf4/видео.html
Great video! Would really like to see what impact routing audio via PC and applying compression could have versus the default audio and what settings would be best!
Thanks, that's Coming soon! + I'm working on a new one which I'll show how to make a footstep radar in the game to detect enemy location without audio on PS5 and PC soon!
Exactly! The more you know the maps and predictions, the easier it gets!
Best vids on COD ever! 🐐 ❤🎉
Wow, Thanks 💙🙏
Thanks so much! I'll try to do more tests and experience with new tools and upgrade the information in future videos! Keep coming 🙂
Hi, thanks, yes I will cover the PC integration soon which will create an audio map for footsteps too!
Daniel always comes thru...

I’m glad I I was able to give you the idea to do this my dude I suggested it on your Discord and I’m very grateful that you did it. Thank you very much and I’m very grateful you producer content and thank you for making this video. I appreciate you greatly.

I’m just gonna say WOW 😮 excelente trabajo!

You want to hear footsteps better in COD ? Start by throwing your "gaming" headset in the trash and play with IEM's. There's a reason why the majority of streamers use them now. They have a lot clearer, cleaner sound and pick up a bunch more detail.
Very good idea, I'll give IEM's a try and will share my review, thanks!
Hi, it's a bit hard to tell, but Apex 4 is probably better for smaller hands, + you have 4 back buttons, the distance between L1 R1 L2 R2 is also less than Edge in Apex 4.
good video, shout out here from Brazil.
Hey, thanks! and nice to meet you!
Thanks so much for sharing info and your experiences! 🙏🙏
Make a video about the Astro mix amps, it helps a lot as well if people can’t afford PC’s and just wanna stick to console
Thanks for the idea, I'll be covering and testing that for future videos!
Hi Danial , I love your videos and I wonder if you can make a video of ps5 edge controller sensitivity explanations to meet warzone sensitivity
Having said that , I wish to understand how can both sensitivity console joystick and in game sensitivity meet for a better aiming results ? Thanks and I hope I have explained well.
Are the Pulse 3D for PS5 a good headset for Warzone? Since season 4 I’m not hearing much footsteps and its the same for my teammates.
Hi, Pulse 3D is an OK headset, however since season 4, the footsteps are quieter overall, I felt the same and that was one of the reasons making this video!
@@DanielZH Oh okay I understand and thank you. Could you recommend a better headset for PS5?
Danial clarify this about controllers I read this today,
“DUALSENSE controllers are 250Hz over USB and 800Hz over Bluetooth, the same as DUALSHOCK 4.
Correct me if wrong
this guy recorded vids using xinputtest if you know what that is to check polling rate and uploaded vids about it and all that. @danial zh
Plz lmk @danial zh
Hi, the method I used for testing Edge is copying the USB signal with a USB Dev kit where it'll show the current status and when it was connected to PS5, it was at 1000Hz polling rate (USB) not sure how they tested that, but I'm currently incapable of any other kinds of polling rate tests on Console as the PC in between is the only method, however when we test input lag in-games, and Edge has a lower input lag, that proves the polling rate is probably higher in Edge, or I might be wrong, but one thing that I'm sure about is that Edge on USB has less input lag on PS5 than BT.
@@DanielZH ok thanks for clearing this up, they used xinputtest or some like that
@@DanielZH so edge usb has less input lag on all games rather than Bluetooth?
Hi, i would like to see your measurements on gunshot frequencies and maybe some compressing settings.. i would really like to lower them, not for footsteps, but to prevent blowing my eardrums.
Hi, yes I will do it, I also don't like too loud gunshots!
@@DanielZHThank you, sir. That would be much appreciated. I use DT 900 pro x with toping e30 ii stack, some eq and a bit of compression in equalizer apo. But still needs some further investigation.
What headphones you use or recommend
audeze maxwell or Arctis Nova Pro or 7P are good choices IMO. but there are a lot more brands you can look after, depends on the price range too.
@@DanielZH i feel like the maxwell for fps are not it, from all research ive done they’re towards more “realistic scenery” more than anything else
If there’s a airstrike or mortar strike I get zero footstep audio.
That's normal, because they're too loud!
@@DanielZH even if the air strike is not on me I struggle tbh.
Is it me, or did they nerf foot step this last couple weeks. I was hearing them so good. now they are almost gone
Yea they nerfed footstep sounds severely. XclusiveAce made a video on it
Yes, it doesn't sound as loud anymore, way more quieter...
So this happen when they nerf the mp footstep.
in the previous opuses the sound of footsteps was audible, I think that it is simply a desire of the developers that they heard nothing
After season 4 update it became quieter... sadly.
My only issue is reducing the sound of those constant precision air strikes and mortars. I can't hear ANYTHING when those are going on
Same, sadly there’s no option to reduce those, and they are too loud!

Hmm, I'll test and see how would Edge curves affect the in-game settings and will share the results in future videos! Thanks for the idea.
I'm using high end headphones, Dolby Atmos on or off, I can't hear nothing
Bro 👊🏻 thanks game changer, now with the hyperx cloud 2 I play 3D sound and tv and low volume I hear overal better and can concentrate better
Glad I could help 🤜🤛
That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, bcuz the hyperx already has a dac that has 3d audio im pretty sure. So using 3d and 3d in Playstation is worst combo. I would like to know whats the perfect settings for hyperx cloud 2?
I always hear farting and grunting sounds. Like pooping and sex at the same time.

Turtle beach stealth 600 gen 2 best settings and which eq preset to use on headset ?
Ok , sooo i have hyper x hedset wierless, when i shoot i cant hear footsteps near me , or at least i hear 2 last steps and than is 2 late , big problem is i dont know the direction of sound , left , right not so bad but what is above and below it kills me in 90% of cases , whein i get back i will try Teufel headset (230) € to see the diffrence bcz i try manny profiles from LG hub but it doesent work and i tried all sound settings in game it is a nightmare
I have TRUTHEAR x crinacle zero red, they have a 20 ohm cable, I plug them into the xbox series s gamepad and it’s just terrible. The sounds of gunfire are UNREALLY loud, and the footsteps are VERY quiet. I do not know what to do
I dont know why they have seprate settings on how you can tweak gun audio, atmosphere audio, killstreaks etc.

Hi, thanks, I currently don't have the 2019 installed, not sure if I will have time to cover that.
It's ok. Thanks for your reply. Keep the vids coming.
This has NEVER been an issue in any game I’ve played EXCEPT FOR BLACK OPS 4’s BLACKOUT MODE. I just wanna unlock Dempsey and I keep getting sneak attacked 😭
it happened since COD tried realism and the audio priorities are so incomplete in the game...
Any advice for people using NOT using a headset, who prefer TV volume or Soundbars?
Hi, if your TV or soundbar is strong enough, I suggest Headphones mode, otherwise the soundbar.
Tbh Cod just needs to add the visual audio indicator that Fortnite has.
Agree!
Hi Daniel!
I have the Turtle Beach Stealth pro. What do you recommend? On mw3 to use?
Hi, based on the OG profile I've seen on Rtings, TV mode or Soundbar should be best, as Bass is already too high on 100-120Hz, it's best to change EQ, fix mid and treble, then 3D Audio would be good too.
Thanks for the Video, i have a PS5 with Astro A50. Which Seeting are good?
Hi, you're welcome, I suggest Soundbar for that, of course depending on your EQ settings, you can try TV mode too! 3D Audio and LPCM.
Can you do eq for rainbow six, rust and cod for the hyperx cloud alpha?
Interesting that in beta mw2 sounds was great
Yeah
Hey, can you do an updated video on settings to use for the controller, please for call of duty warzone
Hi, I already shared a video about the best settings I personally use here: ruclips.net/video/429Hj9O7hsc/видео.html
@@DanielZH thanks dan
Please make the settings. Astro A50 headphones and dolby equalizer
Could you recommend tv audio settings for people who don’t always used headset?
@@DanielZH thanks bro
Hello Dan i would like to know whats the best settings for hyperx cloud 2 or the razer black shark v2 x?
Hi, for hyperx cloud 2, based on Rtings Response test, I suggest not using Bass boost (never) but also trying soundbar mix or TV mode, since highs are weak in 3 to 5KHz, try using EQ and make it neutral with the provided link if you're on PC or if the headset can save EQ on itself.
Honestly the game is just inconsistent with the footsteps. Some times i can hear them a mile away. But other times i hear them when the enemy is already right behind me. Or other times i dont hear them at all.
yes there are many issues when it comes to audio in COD.
Nice vidéo 👍🏻

That's great! :)
I could hear footsteps fine untill recently. I got on the game and everysingle sound that wasnt a gunshot is super quiet. No idea why.
After season 4, I noticed Footsteps are quieter than before.

Airstrikes and game achievements are so loud
The fact that none of this is communicated through the game effectivey enough. Plus network issues seems like it messes with audio localization😊
Yes the network affection on audio is huge for this game!
For Logitech G430 ps5, best settings?
hi , know if yur spectating , ur able to hear more then the player yur watching , thats insane that ,
Yes in that moment COD stops some parts of processing that’s why it sounds better
The master volume should it remain on 100 or lower to 50?
Does that affect footstep audio? Or is that only for effects volume.
Hi, the master volume is like changing your TV audio, will affect everything
@@DanielZH thank you bro
Hi Danial, but is it possible that by deactivating HDCP I hear the sounds in Warzone much louder and clearer? even the steps
Hi, not actually, HDCP can help with less HDMI input delay, but not louder audio.
I have the Sony inzone h9 headset what Audio Profile should I use for mw3 or in general for this headset dolpy Atmos or linear pcm etc?
Hi, Linear PCM is my opinion.
should i put my pc on 16 bit then? or 24bit audio is fine, i guess 16 bit has less dynamic range, so might be better?
Hi, the dynamic range is the same, and 16bit works just as fine as 24bit... at least in COD!
Please explain me this…I can hear the footsteps of my teammates and my own as loud as elephants. Or can hear Enemy’s Steps in buildings 50m away…but can’t hear an enemy when he comes straight behind me or jumping in the same house as me! Or in other words…i can hear ALL steps that completely unimportant for me, and can’t hear ONE SINGLE important step! Tell me what you want…this game is broke as hell. Simply as that…
Yes that issue is due to Games’s inconsistent audio processing sadly
My problem with this game is I can’t tell if they are above or below me. In pubg I can easily know. Its so weird
The same problem goes here, try stereo, however it's a game problem, but I'm trying to find a way to fix that.
