at this point, even though I already know how to blend, if I see one of these videos by anyone I just click so I can marvel at their skill, another great video Lela, pls keep making them :)
This is such a great tutorial! Have you ever considered uploading your line works on a patreon or as an ebooks or PDF for downloading? I’m sure many people would love to pay for them to colour them in! You have such a fantastic design and style as an artist!
Tysm but when it comes to the skin I would recommend starting with the lightest color because you can go over it and you Can decide where to put the shadows a little easier but if you start with the darkest color you can't go over it but this is just my personal opinion and please don't take this as a hate comment I just wanted to share that but you Can do whatever you like
I just got my first set of ohuhu markers and I’m so grateful to have found your channel! I haven’t used alcohol markers in ages and feel so shy 🤣 i just have to accept it will take some time getting used to them.
Instead of describing it as "bleaching" the darker color, it's prob more accurate to say it's "lifting" the color. Anyways great video! Ugh my markers are still packed from moving I should dig them out.
Also thanks for the heads-up about the ohuhu sale, I still need to pickup the skin tone and mid tones sets to complete my collection. Because obviously I need alllll the colors, lol.
You're welcome! 😁 and the paper could be the issue. It's important to make sure you use paper compatible with alcohol markers. In this tutorial I'm using Ohuhu's Marker Pad Paper. But it you experience bleeding out even while using marker paper, then try making your strokes softer or not going to far to the edge of your lines so that it doesn't bleed out beyond the lines.
If you are ever inclined, would you do a video lesson on 'learning where' shading would be on faces and nature? I look at things and go ''''how do they know where it would be shaded"". I feel like I cannot really create nice nature scenes because I am not sure exactly where shadows are placed. Thank you.
Sorry this is a reply to a year old comment, and I'm not the one you're asking but I wanted to try to help you - I believe for your case you'd need to study on lighting and form/volume for faces and I believe the same applies to scenic/nature stuff. You'd have to visualize where your light source is coming from and how shapes are affected, how the light bounces off, etc. - It's hard to give you specifics because I can't see how you draw, but I hope this helps a little, at least to give you a starting point to solving your problem :)
Yeah, I’d like to know too. I recently bought a 240gr bristol paper and my alcohol markers (touch new) just bleed through it 😫 Should’ve bought Ohuhu 🤦🏻♀️ Although this is the first time I use these kind of markers and I just feel so dumb trying to blend with them.
Do you have a video of which colors fit well together for blending? It's my biggest struggle because i come from colorpencil where the saturation has more control and can be controlled by pressure 😅
Omg l really needed this . I bought ohuhu markers for the 2. Time ,the 120 pack for ther anniversary. I never knew how to blend bc all of the tutorials out there were useless for me ,they just didnt make sense and when l saw this video it was so helpful and l can understand tysmmm .❤️😇😇🤩
I own a complete set of Copic Sketch so never gave any other markers a thought, the markers you are using look VERY intriguing though, the colors seem to look even better than my Copics. I'm going to buy a set and play....Great video!!❤
Im in an art club in my school and one of the ppl in my club brought ohuhu markers (which I will be getting 4 christmas!!) and I've been tryinf to know how to blend. They let me and the others share their ohuhu markers. Mostly I borrow some after school and if I have permission I get to keep tgem for a bit (but I have to take care of them which I know is important.)
I enjoy the way you explained your blending tips and tricks. And I appreciate the way you broke traditional shading rules to create parts of this illustration. It's a such a refreshing tutorial!
I have to say hey girl I will living care I love the skin I love all of your doing I put a thumbs-up cuz I just love it I'm going to follow you cuz you're the best
You really helped me here! The last person I watched says to go over the entire dark color with the next color when blending and you just go over part of it, which looks better to me. I'm just starting out, so you have been such a great inspiration ❤❤❤
1st: Congratulations both for your skills and because this tutorial is really clear and inspiring! 2nd: can you please share the information about the paper you used? Thank you so much and looking forward your next tutorials!
I just got my first set of Ohuhu markers after watching your series of drawings... but something about your technique looks a lot more "wet". These markers don't seem to go onto paper that wet and yours seem to have an almost watercolor consistency... are you dampening your page are you doing something else besides just using the marker as is? None of my shading comes out like that, in fact they tend to streak when I go over an area...
Definitely a helpful tutorial. I've unfortunately realized if I want to color with markers I need to learn how to ink first, regular pencil absolutely melts
That was so much fun to watch . I mainly use colored pencils but I have alcohol markers and wanted some idea how to work with them. Thank you for the demonstration, looks great.

I just bought some Ohuhu markers literally this morning.... They're coming tmrw so thx for the tutorial, probably would've needed it lol

this a great tutorial highly recomonded and I'm a beginning too just bought two days ago this helps
Thank you! I have troubles with blending. I also wanted to ask if the reason my markers bled outwards was because of the paper

@@lela.the.artist ok thank you! I have some marker paper but haven’t tried it out yet so that might work much better
@@willaandrews7283 Ideal paper for alcohol markers is Color Copy by Mondi (uncoated). Super smooth and very nice for gradients.

Lela, thank you so much for sharing your blending style, it truly helped me to analyze and gain the understanding, again thank you!
If price is not a concern, would you recommend Ohuhu, Copic, or W&N markers?
So helpful - I love your process of colouring in the skin, it is very inspiring
Do you have a video of which colors fit well together for blending? It's my biggest struggle because i come from colorpencil where the saturation has more control and can be controlled by pressure 😅
I bought a cheap ripoff of copics and I was just wondering if copics are streaky too. I tried to color but they dry way too quickly. 😔
just found your channel now and I subscribed. Please make more girls illustrations with markers videos💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰
Your markers look and blend a little different than the ones I recently bought from the official website; is this a new series or something? :o
Woww amazing vids I love them soo much and your vids keep up the good work continue To. Make amazing vids
I got an Ohuhu set for Christmas, and I’ve had trouble blending the markers so this tutorial really helped me thanks!
Is there a way of me coloring your art. so I can work on my blending and shading with Ohuhu markers

Thank u I really need a tutorial is blending with this markers
I just got the Ohuhu alcohol markers. So, technically, you do not have to use the colorless blender marker that comes with the makers?
1st: Congratulations both for your skills and because this tutorial is really clear and inspiring! 2nd: can you please share the information about the paper you used? Thank you so much and looking forward your next tutorials!
This was very helpful! I was worried about the Ohuhu not blending as well as Copic, but it looks like that’s not the case.
I tried blending black and red, with this discovery it's difficult if not impossible to blend contrasting colors...
Thank you for this, really helpful guide. I'm also glad to see it's not just me who keeps opening my markers at the wrong end 😅
You didn’t mention how important the paper is for use of markers. What paper are you using for this demonstration??
Ah! I didn't realize people were using a midtone in between thier lightest and darkest color for the feathering example.
Literly u motivated me a lot 😢 literly thank u
So these are much cheaper than COPIC but still have a brush tip and mix that well?? 🤔
It’s like contouring makeup lol😂
I do not have the honey colour what can I use instead?
Black
You draw amazingly! Which set of markers did you use?
she used the Ohuhu brand of markers!

It’s the watercolour brush that’s why
Can we do base layer first on full face and then midtone and shadows??
And loved your vid and you just gained a subscriber!!
And you can do this with any tip right?Like the fine and the chisel tip?
It's a little bit different but you can definitely use it
This is so nice!!!! Thank you for doing an example at real speed and explaining the thought process as you go ❤
I wish i bought the brush tips, when i bought them i got the fine / chisel tips
