If there was ever a short that would guide the deaf to hear and the blind to see, it would be "Amber"; a miracle. I now see the influence of Edward Yang's "Yi Yi" on your work, in terms of the composition and framing of the subjects in each image. But this short is so much more than its framing and composition: The colors are worthy of Jack Cardiff's Technicolor movies with Powell and Pressburger. The use of available light rivals Roger Deakins's best work. The dialogue and sound design has the simplistic sophistication of a Terrence Malick film. Speaking of the dialogue, it is clear that your partnership with Junyao Yang has resulted in something incredible. This collaboration between you (a creative force with a photographer's eye) and Junyao (a reporter, which gives her an ear for how to convey the most while saying the least) has resulted in the most mature, human and moving script you have yet directed and the best thing you have worked on thus far. My humble suggestion is to keep collaborating with her. So long as you keep creating and doing your best with each of your films and photos, the world will know you as one of the great artists of all time. As for myself, I hope you will let me tag along as you make your journey. It is my sincerest hope to collaborate with you again, as soon as possible. Thank you and Junyao for creating this film. The world is a better place for it. - Andrew
Thank you! I used a few lenses for this short; the Sigma DG DN 45mm f/2.8, the Nikkor H 85mm f/1.8, the Nikkor P 180mm f/2.8 , and the Minolta 58mm f/1.2
Thank you! I would say there's definitely a bit more of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it the files from fp become very pleasant to edit
@@paperlantern9163 Yes for sure! Thank you! Keep posting beautiful videos like this when time allows! I am blown away by the footage. It is also helpful fore some of us who are thinking of buying this little camera, since there are not many videos out there with the fp
@@dimitris.tsakalas thank you so much for the kind words!! When I have another fp I will definitely post more footage, it’s such an underrated cinema camera
I’d probably go for the fp.. it definitely has a lot of quirks, but there’s something special about the images you get from the sensor.. I also appreciate the flexibility you get with it being full frame, AND if you’re like me and primarily use vintage 35mm film lenses the fp is kind of perfect It’s also sooo compact and an infinitely better camera for taking stills too.. Having said that you really can’t go wrong with the bmpcc 4k, it’s a great cinema camera for the price and has a lovely image too!
Thank you! Honestly I never had much of an exposure philosophy for the fp, (a bit irresponsible I know) but that’s only because the dynamic range really is quite good *Generally* speaking though I’d recommend overexposing by a stop or two for most shots, it’ll look like the highlights are blown out but once you get the footage into resolve it becomes very flexible
Those compositions are beautiful, very talented you are! What apertures are you shooting at, those scenes with the city in the far background but not completely blurred out? An amateur like me would probably blur it out completely, but those shots in the video are the best.
Thank you very much! For the city shots I was actually wide open at f/1.2 with the Minolta 58mm, I just had the actress stand a bit farther from the camera in order to get that look! Don’t worry though I was tempted to blur everything out too haha
Thank you!! I tried to keep the set up minimal but I used a monopod for the city shots and a cheap-ish fluid head tripod for everything else As far as lenses are concerned I used the sigma 45mm f/2.8 and a bunch of vintage lenses.. (mostly the Minolta 58mm f/1.2 and the Nikkor H 85mm f/1.8)
Thank you so much!! I honestly believe you (or most people for that matter) can make a short like this or something better, you just gotta get out there and create 😁
That was truly moving, what stunning shots, great job!
Thank you!
I've probably watched this over 20 times.... Flawless. Love your amazing work. Huge fan!!
Thank you!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it
the composition of every shot! Holy crap!
A very moving film. The cinematography and script are perfect together. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing, stunningly beautiful in its simplicity. The ambulance in the end is heartbreaking. Well done
Thank you so much!
Amazing, love seeing sf through this perspective. Stunning compositions
What a breath of fresh air - very nicely made and FP footage looked great. Thank you for sharing!

Excellent short film. Nice writing, great framing. Amazing use of natural light. Simple and short and yet you said so much with so little.
Thank you!
So GOOD! Captured the sense of quiet desperation so well! KEEP EM COMING!
Thank you, and I sure will!!
Such a beautiful piece

very cool, really enjoyed this 💫
Just wonderful! The cinematography, acting, writing everything! Reminded me a bit of the work of Bi Gan
Thank you so much, that’s very high praise indeed!

Great film! Emotionally moving and quite visually interesting. One typo in the subtitles at 1:05 "belonged" is spelt "belogned".
Thanks for pointing that out! I should have majored in English instead of cinema tbh
Excellent
Great shots and nice short. What lenses were used here?

Has the dynamic range ever felt limiting on this camera? On the Cined tests it does seem to have a little less than other cameras in this price range.
