Thank you for the very very kind words! It means a lot coming from a talented artist like yourself. I’d love to connect too, my email is paperlantenmedia@gmail.com or we could chat through ig, my account is max.v.hurley
WOW WOW WOW HOLY SHIT, I clicked on this thinking “ok I’ll see some wack sloppily put together story so that this guy can test dynamic range and his new lens yada yada” but god damn this is like a David Lowery meets Tarkovsky piece in under 7 minutes. I love everything from the change in aspect ratios to the actresses performance. As someone who occasionally feels like a dummy buying to BMPCC4K bodies this definitely makes me feel so encouraged and is a great reminder that creativity and good story telling is #1 and that good tools are just to supplement. This was fucking awesome to watch!
Wow this is absolutely one of the kindest comments I’ve ever received, thank you!! I definitely have serious GAS, and making this short made me realize that I don’t need a zcam e2-f6 or an s1h, and that really I’m super lucky to even have the bmpcc 4K in the first place. To answer your question though, I didn’t use any lomo lenses. I did use a Minolta 58mm 1.2 and a cheap cctv lens extensively however, with both lenses in some scenarios creating a very lomo-esque image.
I’m really thoroughly truly deeply in awe of this short. It’s so beautifully constructed and the shots are to die for. I would love to get in contact! I’m an actor and film maker in London and I’d love to connect and ask a few questions about how you made this short! I have a bmpcc 4k I just bought and I’d love some tips and lens tips! Such stunning work. Really!
Thank you so much for your very kind words, I’d be more than happy to answer any questions if you have them! You can email here if you’d like: mxhurley01@gmail.com Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello, I primarily used the Minolta 58mm f/1.2, the Nikkor O 35mm f/2, and the Nikkor H 85mm f/1.8. I also used a cheap cctv 25mm f/1.4 for the shots with the swirly bokeh
Thank you, and apologies for the late reply! I mostly used pre-ai nikkor lenses on the Metabones xl, (85 1.8, 180 2.8 etc.) but I also used a Minolta 58mm 1.2 and a cheap C mount 25mm 1.4 for a few shots as well
@@paperlantern9163 Awesome, thanks for reply. I find your short as an example of the best quality you can achieve on bmpcc. In other videos made on this camera I always notice some small features that makes them look cheap like for example yelowish skin tones and etc. But in this video everything is just perfect, especially light and color grading. If someone would say it was shot on arri alexa, I wouldn't even doubt. Did you use any lights? Or is it made with natural light only?
nice
WOW. Just. WOW. 👏👏👏👏👏

I am confused as to how you got a medium format DOF look (let alone FF) from a small sensor. Apart from the aspect ratio that is.
I used a Metabones speedbooster xl with a Minolta 58mm f/1.2 (wide open) for many of the shots which is how I got the look you’re describing!
wich lens do you use?
Hello, I primarily used the Minolta 58mm f/1.2, the Nikkor O 35mm f/2, and the Nikkor H 85mm f/1.8. I also used a cheap cctv 25mm f/1.4 for the shots with the swirly bokeh
Both story and cinematography are brilliant. What lenses did you use?

@@mickeysimon3789 You are far too kind! I also did in fact rely almost entirely on natural lighting for this project.
