This video is a master class in editing! Also packed with a ton of helpful info. I'm a Sony shooter, but I gained a lot from this. Great work. New sub here. Hype to see what else you make this year!
Opening shot is so cool, I'm still a noob and have yet to use even false color, but after shooting some handheld stuff for a friend, I've learned just how punishing it is to not have some sort of exposure monitoring. Cool discovery, makes the FP look awesome.
@@jonasleupe thanks for watching brother. I really appreciate you support man. It pushing me to finish my videos. I have so many back logged from client work.
Subscribed, great video. I love cinematographers who are professional and straight to the point like this. I’m sick of the overly “dynamic” hand waving behavior some seem to think is required to maintain our interest.
Just found your channel! I’m a huge fan of the Sigma fp myself and it’s all I’ve been creating with for the past year almost. Really enjoy your format and how informative and to the point your vids are. You got a sub from me 👍🏾 keep up the great work!
Welcome aboard! I’ve been using the sigma fp for about a year as well. Use cDNG has come a long way. I’m leaning towards getting the Black Magic Visdeo Assist 12g for BRAW. I use braw at my day job with the pocket camera. I love how smooth it is to use in Davinci. I’ll probably make a video on that if your interested. Edit: I’m also subscribed to you brother. 🤝🏿
This camera is like the best keep secret in cinematography. I have one and when you really know how to use it and workaround the quirks, the footage out of it is astounding. Kicks the crap out of BMPCC footage and is on par with RED and Alexa for the most part. I could be wrong but I think the reason it just got more expensive from 1499 to 1899 on BH is because it’s getting more popular
Here’s what’s crazy. You can get the sigma FP used for $1,200 on avg. I bought 2 of them (I was able to get one for no more than a grand), just in case it rises in popularity. I can’t believe there’s not a massive rush to buy them used.
I love it... especially with the slim raw tool to compress the raw files. I’ve only used it on one professional project so far but I’m trying to find unit for my upcoming short films and personal projects.
fp is in the mail! and if I've learned one thing using magic lantern is that it's not going to be amazing out of the box. It takes a lot of knowledge. Looking forward to learning from your experience 👍
I think you mean under 12 stops? Regardless the system is based on stops like your lens or light meter. You will always know what is clipping or under-exposed. If your camera had more than 12 stops of dynamic rang than the same thing will apply. If you a re clipping your image the data is gone.
I love my Sigma FP. Its been a Journey. I would love to know what the thought process wasfor the desgin. They had to have golas to be left feild. I actaullyt think I want another one. Not sure about the L but I could use two Sigmas....one set u for cenima and another one set up for short vlogging support in the field and in the studio.
As I recall there were serious documented inaccuracies in the metering of the FP, problems with dual ISO's 100&3200. Is the new mode actually accurate?
Thank you!! This video on the EL Zone was quite informative. I use a RED Komodo with the SmallHD Cine 7. Given that the EL Zone works the same across all systems I suspect that the information provided here will be of great use to all users with this new feature. Thumbs up and subscribed!
Thank you. I love the EL zone system. The system from RED works in a similar way as well. I'm happy that small HD has it so I can use it with different cameras.
@@clintclarkson1325 small hd is the only other monitor currently with el zone. However, the false color on the black magic cameras still work good. I still use it on the 4k. It’s not bad.
This is a great video! Do you find that EL Zone works correctly for the entire ISO range? I'm shooting mainly at 800 so it works great, but I haven't tested it at other ISO levels yet.
I am thinking of investing in sigma fp. Sounds amazing for the money. But what worries me are the file sizes. Can you share how big is 1 min video AFTER compressing with slim raw 7:1?
@@locksleylennoxvfxWhy waste time on compression and lose some information if there are cheap 4Tb disks for fp that do not require reloading the project for editing? I easily mount projects of 7Tb or more...
@@locksleylennoxvfx,I use several disks of 2 and 4 TB. I rent a lot and don't use nas, I don't see the point. I store only the final result. The last ssd drive for fp at 4 TB cost about 240 usd, which is quite reasonable.

Thanks for watching brother. Small HD monitors have this tool I believe. So it something you can still try out. I'll be busy with more videos.
Well explained! I didn't know about EL until now.
It is such a useful tool. RED cameras have a similar tool called Gio Scope.
