  • This is how I got fast hands in Pickleball!
    This skill is CRUCIAL to playing at a high level. Without quick hands, you will be targeted in matches and vulnerable to attacks.
    Do these drills as OFTEN as possible. You want your hand speed to be as comfortable as you are with dinks and drops. VERY IMPORTANT SKILL!

    Tanner you are the best communicator of all the pickleball gurus out there! I love how your vids get right to the point. Can you make a concise intro to pickleball vid that I can play for beginners in our group? Something short that just gives them the scoring, kitchen, serving and bounce rules in your very clear style? There's a bunch out there already, but I can't find anything that gets right to the point like you do.

    Not moving your feet and only using your arms might make for faster paddle movement, but pivoting and shifting allow for more quality shots. Watching Ben Johns and J dub, they are NOT planted on their feet in hands battles. The frequently use lateral movement, and pivot their feet.

    Hi Tanner, just had my first session since watching this video. It gave me the confidence to get right up to the kitchen line and not be afraid of fast balls coming at me. I won loads of points now knowing about keeping the paddle up and in the backhand position. The game just got a lot easier. I now look forward to getting up to the kitchen line for a hands battle or countering a banger!
    Thanks again for your amazing content!

    Tanner, Thankyou for all your helpful videos. Do you have a video out on dinking corner to corner? My issue is I tend to hit the ball too high to my opponents fore arm where they are able to put it away to my partners back hand. Thanks again.

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  5 месяцев назад +1

      Great suggestion! I do not have a video on that but can certainly make one. But I think you’re doing is you’re starting off by going wide when drinking. You should try to put some balls to the middle of the court before you go out wide so your opponent is off-balance and unable to snag that one

      Hi Gary!! I personally have not done any! However, if I could go back in time.. I would! I recommend practicing the flick like suggested on the video. As well as, keeping a rally on the wall so you can keep compact form! Dinking I don’t find very useful after you get the hang of it.

    • @tanner.pickleball
      @tanner.pickleball  5 месяцев назад

      This is definitely something I personally struggle with. I tend to do the chicken wing for my paddle side hip. For my paddle side shoulder I tend to often do the chicken wing as well, although I am actively working to make that a forehand!

      @@gilbertamthor5098That’s a good point. This just helped me set a new wrinkle in the ol brain. Tennis players playing pickles would benefit greatly from completely disassociating pickleball from tennis. It’s not like tennis at all, (maybe it’s a cheap imitation, that’s beside the point). Approach it like any other sport or discipline you participate in that is not tennis. Compartmentalize each distinctly and you can cross between play, enjoying both pretty successfully.
      It has worked for me, I just couldn’t quite put a finger on it till now. Nicely done!
      “Pro” tip: Wear different shoes, a pair for pickles, a pair for tennis sessions… the rest will follow :-)
