Brilliant. Just the idea of building the spatial awareness of where the sweet spot is in relation to your hand by constantly touching the ball is fantastic. No need to find a drilling partner, no need for a court. Love it. Thank you so much!
I really liked the one handed vs two handed backhand ready positions! Seems like a lot of tutorials are pushing people to two handed backhand nowadays. But coming from 40 years of racquetball the one handed backhand is much more natural to me. And all the drills were great! Thank you!
These are all tips you would never think about but implementing a bit of each will make a difference. This makes me try to be more aware of the bad habits I have developed.
I truly enjoy listening to you. You provide great insight into why you do those certain movements. The idea of keeping the paddle within your peripheral view makes sense. I’m going to try it tomorrow.
So many great tips in a concise video. You got right to the point. The drills will be a good place for me to start. Looking forward to more great tips. Thanks.
I am not able to play often so I try to watch videos the night before I play. Reviewing the fundamentals and learning new skills to practice seems to help my focus. Thank you for 📫.
Many excellent tips. Paddle drills are helpful; hadn't seen those before. I've now adjusted my hand position to make a difference and have more appreciation of focusing on my peripheral vision/keeping my paddle out in front. Love the "being one with the paddle."
easy-to-follow drills that are perfect for players at any level. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, these tips will definitely enhance your game. Has really helped boosting my skill at the net!
Great advice! I agree with the wall behind your shoulders idea. I’ve heard Tyson McGuffin call this hitting zone the “magic bubble”. A local coach said to imagine a big beach ball in front of you and all your points of contact should be within the beach ball. It works!!!
notr sure if you touched on it in the hand speed video I think it was the counter video, but I think it still applys to speed was the tip about tucking the elbows in toward the sides of the torso. As you know, it forces that shorter, faster range of motion at the NVZ.
Great tips. Would love a good drill to create the pattern of keeping hands in front. Can’t break the habit of bringing paddle back when it is a quick reaction. Can do it great when I have a little time
These are good tips for people who have never played a paddle sport. My problem as a tennis/racquetball player is not hitting the ball at its apex. Thanks for this video.
Ready position clarification was one I hadn't heard, most time people just show the higher up version. The peripheral vision limit was good, but I'm pretty sure I've heard you mention that one a time or two in other videos, so I have to give the ready position info the win on this video haha.
Can you do a video on how to improve body positioning/footwork. I dont have a tennis background and I have to drill this split step thing in my head, but I would like to do it correctly. Maybe drills to improve? Thank you! You have excellent content. Always thumbs up!
So coming from tennis this ready position tip makes so much sense. I am trying to bust out of the habit of slicing my volleys. Sure sometimes it comes in handy where if I slice and it cuts and lands directly at their feet or to cut through the court to open space which having margin of error. But I’m instinctively slicing every time even on waist high balls that at times I feel I keep my opponent in the point when it could’ve ended
@@pickleballplaybook yeah for sure. Over the last 3 months it’s slowly getting there. You know I would always try and tell myself come over the ball not under to try and focus my brain on it. I never thought of hitting the back of the ball. It’s such a simple thing but I guess I over complicated the process. Thanks!
As someone else said. We don't need the auto caption. RUclips already has captioning for anybody who wants or needs it. Your content is high level and you are an excellent communicator. It doesn't add anything. It only detracts. Still love the content.

I disagree. These captions help to increase engagement early on the video, i know it's a decent amount of extra work and I appreciate it!
@@pickleballplaybook You've probably seen Kyle Koszuta's vids (ThatPickleballGuy). He is the gold standard. Captioning is used only to highlight something important, not just a constant flow of words. Something like that, might be the in-between. thx
I don’t play indoor but my favorite outdoor is Selkirk S1 and Vulcan balls. Both fabulous. The Selkirk balls don’t break. 👇 www.selkirk.com/products/pro-s1-100?sca_ref=4516571.n0z0Xqk6sI
I’d add Paris Todd for quick hands, but maybe the best I have seen lately on the PB channels for mixed doubles in really fast firefights is Jorja Johnson. Jorja also has incredible control during the firefights because it looks she is ready, out front more often and appears more relaxed as it is happening.
What is recommend is coming up with your own opinions on fast hands. I think so often we hear the announcers say, “this is the best I’ve seen Jorja play” and “she’s beating Ben in all these hand battles” but in reality her and JW are still losing to them and Ben is coming out on top of majority of them. I’d put AL’s hands wayyyy above Jorjas. Jorja has a long way to go technically before she can start beating AL in hand battles. Paris does have quick hands too but not as quick as AL so probably why she didn’t cross my mind. The pros are fun to watch!!
Please do another video on this: my partner refuses to even try drop shots, therefore setting me up for being blasted by the opposing team. The question is-do I stay slightly back, creeping slowly in, playing defense; or do I rush in and try to make my reaction faster? Or both?
I injured my shoulder by going passed that imaginary sight line. Now, while still in recovery, my paddle speed is still fast because I meet the ball out front instead of loading up. You confirmed my approach to speedups
Please do a video on this very common issue: my partner refuses to come to the kitchen line!! How do you play when this happens?? And I’m talking multiple people here.

The explanation on the different ready positions and their rationale was excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it!

The wall and ball machine are great compromises!

Great video. The hand eye coordination drills were good. I need to try the the one that you are catching the ball without making a sound.
You can do it! Glad you enjoyed the video 🤝

Not at all! Everyone in the neighborhood (or at least all the houses by the courts) play pickleball
