one of my top 10 favorite Beatles songs.
i would love to hear your top 10 based on this comment❤️❤️❤️
My favorite.
Probably in mine too
I learned this song back in the day when there was no internet videos or note for note transcription books out there. We had to listen over and over to the record. Took me months. This is one of the best single guitar lessons I've seen.
The bridge chords were a George addition. I remember reading in an interview that he was very pleased that he came up with something so nice for a throwaway section. His words. I think they are marvellously understated.
Mike is doing an amazing virtuoso job on that double lead. That said, we have to bear in mind that the two guitarists played single lines in harmony. There is no way that a single guitarist playing double stops could possibly sound anywhere as clean as two.
Ever since I been committed to Elgin Mental Hospital in Illinois (I hate to say that was 1988), I have obsessed with this song. OH, Jesus, it is truly the only thing in this hellacious world that is good. It is mind bending levels above every other aspect of life. I get to be online one hour per day. That hour, for over 30 years, has been enjoying the deity of "And Your Bird Can Sing".
George I am sure you have heard Paul and John high as a kite(imo) trying to sing the harmonies on this one, giggling away..Anthologies 2. Wiki has a lot of projection on the meanings. The original version was 12 string "Birds" version in D. When they listened back they must of thought..too Bird like and the name changed from the working title "you don't get me" to the Bird can sing..maybe. Anyway really fun to get this down! Glad you have been able to channel this song to live your life!
@@stratdoc Figured out that orig. version, Byrd-like style too, on my Rick 12-srting.. interesting diminishes chord on the middle-eight, but the final mastered version with the dual leads and wanging, clanging rhythm guitar did it for me!!
Thanks so much Mike. This and She Said She Said were pivotal songs in making Revolver the brilliant (and rocking) album it is. What they were doing in comparison to their contemporaries is just mind blowing.
Yes Revolver to me was their best work. They were still a Guitar driven band at that point. Not a big fan of Sgt.Pepper so little Guitar on it.
One of my all-time favorite songs....
Wow ! The Fab Four ... they did all those songs before age 30 ! Age thirty ...
Mike , you and Phil and Randy are pretty ' fab ' when you play together !
Ya'll learned from the best ... and you play for the ' King ' ...
Life can be tough but God is Good !
Harrison was a genius.
Absolutely!
A great example of how they wrote songs that were never hits, but were still unforgettable. what a wonderfully creative song. The voices just as good as the music I heard Ed Sheehan try to do a version of on my life. It hurt my ears. They were the best performers of their creations
Mike , I've been fooling with this since the first time I heard it. I've seen lots of videos but man,you have it right. Also you have great patience. it makes me feel good that I had it pretty close but not quite. Thanks for filling all the blanks. I truly enjoy your videos. You can sense not just your physical abilities , but your passion and love for the instrument and the music.
WoW! Thank you. I'm humbled by your VERY kind words!!
From John's supposed "throwaway song". What a genius.
Excellent! I've watched so many of Mike's videos and just love them all. Wish I lived right next door to him so I could hear Beatles music "live' all day long.
The best teacher of beatle songs ever , Mike is phenomenal
I still remember how much this song grabbed me the first time I heard it on my "butcher baby" album titled Yesterday and Today. I agree, this supposed throw away song is one of my favorite John Lennon songs. The three supporting men were hitting on all cylinders that day.
Yes, they certainly were..Harrison said in an interview that he wasn't sure if it was him & John, or him & Paul, but it took all ****in' night to finish up before it was mixed..!! I believe it. Sounds like Paul and him, better match-up. Mindblowing song..for a throwaway!!#
All Guitar Players here Bow Down In Homage to the Late But Great George Harrison ! & Thnx Mike for going through this Beatles Classic 🎸🤟🏻
awesome, great song, great performance Mike, thanks (again) for another great beatles song.
By far the best one guitar rendition of this I've heard. We don't have enough guitars to do the double leads so this is very helpful. Well done.
Love your videos. You explain so well with great detail.
This song is really great and so special. I love the fact you combined the low and the high harmony together.
Superb Mike....it's so obvious what a Beatles fanatic you are TOO, like the rest of us....
Especially knowing the time to figure all this out is definitely a labor of love. Always one of my favorite Beatles songs too!
And...great tone, my man!!!
I'm a total Beatle fan. Thanks so much for the step by steps on these great classics. You're the best Mike. You've helped this musician learn song parts I've always wanted to play :D
Mike I am taking my first assessment out and I want to thank you you have the Beatles’ magic in you things that look difficult you serve us with a simple approach and the fab magic is in us brilliant ❤️
So much fun! I had just been glad to be able to play all the parts separately, but playing them together is GREAT! Thanks.
Great lesson, I was 13 when revolver was released in Australia and all my mates who played guitars raved over this tune, even today this tune is still up there with the best, I can play one voicing at a time but not both. you have done a great job playing it and I hope I can play it the way you do, I think the Beatles where the greats band ever to come, and we will never see anyone who will ever get close to there talent
Love your Beatles stuff. Very generous of you to post. Please keep it up
I've been trying to write this song since the 1st time I heard it, it never gets old, thanks for the lesson Mike
I loved this song from the first time I heard it as a grade school kid in 1966. It remains in my top 10 Beatles favorites
Thanks Mike this one had me stumped for years! Great lesson, keep up the good work for us duffers.
Hey Mike! That was great! Tx so much for breaking down completely one of my absolute fav Beatle tunes! Appreciate your patience in the lesson! I play this on Acoustic and sing it, so I vamp on chords through the bridge. Outstanding my friend! Blessings!
Mike...I seem to be able to play this only after a good Gin buzz! You are so awesome...Thanks for what you do!
Thank you, Mike. Your videos are fantastic, and I learn so much!
Ok. There goes next weekend... and the one after that 👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, very well done! George Harrison is smiling! Beautiful Telecaster, too 👍🏻😎
Thanks Mike ; gonna spend an afternoon with this one; always figured this guitar solo was out of reach; you've made it approachable. Like "There's a Place", out of so much great material, this is one of their best, but just not all that well known.
Great job, Mike. Fantastic sound too.
Mike you are AWESOME. I love this!
Mike, you are just a fabulous well-tuned guitarist. But above all of that you are a fabulous teacher: your lessons are well planned out with no "ums" and "ahhs," your smile is infectious, your explanation of detail is very well worded, and your pace is perfect. Again, I so appreciate your guitar being so well in tune.
Thank you so very much for these lessons. While I already know/knew much of what you teach I just so enjoy watching you teach. You are a true pro, sir. Congratulations!
Wow Sladek - I'm humbled by your very kind words. Thank you so much!!
You deserve it. :)
One of my favorite Beatles songs. Thanks for posting this. That's some real twang you got going there Mike, :)
I love your lessons, Mike.
You rock no matter what you say. Please keep teaching so others can keep it alive. Thank you much for caring. It is now my whole life ago when this album (Butcher Block) Yesterday & Today came out barely on the heels of, Help. They were very busy musicians.
Great video. Actually, I heard John in an interview claiming it was him and Paul. Who knows. I too have been playing this for years ( both parts ) but it never felt right without the bends being exact. So I got a " Ditto " pedal. I compress the hell out of the guitar ( 62 Strat ) and add just a touch of reverb. The compression is so far out front on the guitars . I digress. When playing both parts one at a time, you can get the bends exactly . It really sounds different . Lastly. How many guitar players do you know that play this song, and everyone , and I mean everyone plays the voicing differently . All in your approach. I am glad you have such a huge following. People should embrace this. They are not paying for it, and learning things they wouldn't have imagined . I applaud you for " winging " it in respect to breaking it down, and then having to think, wait a minute, that was the B string on the 7th fret etc. That has to be confusing. When playing you're not thinking of what you're doing, you just do it. To have to break it down forces you to have to think about it. Patience is a virtue and you have it in spades . Kudos j
This is the definition of an awesome lick. I can finger pick it but can't get close to the abrupt sound and articulate bends you get here.
Very cool man!
Thank you so very, very much... for your great ear, your hard work, and your generosity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike, very well done ! Thank you for sharing.
Holy, moley, you are too much, just fantastic Mr. Pachelli....l.e.
was just listening to this on the way home! what a great piece (as all beatle works are) thanks for covering love the vids
Very nice job of arranging the two guitar parts Mike.
Great job! Many thanks. Really appreciate your lessons.
One of my favourite guitar solos!
Hey, you got it. That is fantastic. Your are really good. What an ear. Thanks, been wanting to figure that out for years. I make my picks from credit cards. You got to admit that's one of the neatest rock guitar riffs ever. Talk about blown away when I first heard it.
massively appreciate every ounce of effort you put in to beatles songs you've earned a sub! Please do don't let me down or I'm happy just to dance with you
Mike hats off to ya, some guitar playing on this one... ☺️ Keep up the good work... Many thanks..
Best guitar playing ever . Tasteful melodic and raspy . George revisits this lick partially on his little solo fill on With A Little Help With My Friends .
This is where I put my guitar down and back away very slowly. Masterful teacher that you are Mike, you can't teach rhythm or talent. Thank you.
fretkillrfan practice makes better
Exactly. Break it down into small chunks, get it down one piece at a time.
I believe that revolver is one of greatest albums and one of reason is this song. JL called it one of throw away track but I don’t agree to him, fan is not supposed to be yes man, great work Mike many thanks. Love from India.
One of the best Riff of The Beatles...
Great lesson Mike, thank you. Everyone should remember that Paul lays down a wonderful rolling bass to keep up with this great riff ...
Abso-friggin-lutely!! Paul's line is great, using that Rick 4001S..!!
Great video, i will have to learn this no matter how long it takes me, its just way too cool !
Very nicely done Mike!!!
Classic tune! I still have my original 1966 Yesterday and Today in Mono. It was on side 2 track 1. John considered this a throw away wasted one, hard to believe. Nice tutorial Mike. Sure it's easier to play with two guitars.
something I've always wanted to do. Always loved that song.
You are awesome!!! Teach us what George does with the slide guitar in "Isn't it a Pity". It's very beautiful!!! (Sorry for my english, i'm brazilian)
Had to be one of there most complex songs unbelievable great job
actually wasn't. there's two guitars in the original, and both parts are very easy actually. but this guy is merging both parts. thats why its hard
Outstanding, Mike. Thanks.
Thanks & you are most welcome Michael!
Stellar work on one of my Fav tunes.
John said it was a throw away song. It's one of my favorites.
The hook has GOTTA be the longest hook in pop music history...
Nice - lovely - explanation of genius that hit in the 1960’s
As always....well done Mike!!
Amazing Mike you nailed Bro.
Mike, we love your guitar playing, we love THE BEATLES, and the way you film your videos is really nice!!!
Best wishes from L.A.
Love ya back!
NEW SUB HERE - COMPLETELY 1,000% AGREE! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Another great video brother!!!! You're awesome!!!!
Probably one of the most UNDERrated Beatles' (John's) songs.
My favorite song on Revolver 😍
WOW! Maybe the best composed and most challenging guitar solo George Harrison ever invented. Very impressive that you play both voices at the same time! I'm not sure if they recorded it the same way. Deepest respect!
Wirtz-Nentwig Wolfgang Paul wrote the solo.
You´re great Mike, thanks for this
I feel like I need to pay for this lesson. Mike Pachelli Instructional videos are on another level. Thank you
Luke - I appreciate that and you are very welcome! If you'd like to show your support there's a donate button at www.MikePachelli.com and/or Cd's and charts & tabs (for all of my lessons) are available to download there.
Thanks for your consideration.
Really glad you made this vid. It'll take a few weeks to digest.
You are an excellent instructor.
Mike I apologize for asking you to do this recently. Now I see you did this when you were still in Nashville years ago. To me this is the coolest Beatles Guitar song. Lyrics are weird but the Guitars are so great. I allways played Johns part with capo on 2 . Wasn't sure if that was correct but it made me able to sing it much better. I just signed up for a token monthly donation to your site to help you out a tiny bit . Wow 2 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea thats so cool for you. Of course you could do this once again with the back story and your rendition of it just a thought.
Love your lessons bud you're awesome
That was very good! Thanks for sharing.
For the G#m bridge I do this: D string 1st fret index, G string 1st fret middle, B open. Sound the D and G strings together, then the Fretted G and open B. Then barre up with your pinky and follow that same double-stop pattern on the G, B, and E strings on the 4th fret. Sound the G and B, B and E, Then back to the G and B. Next is G string 3rd fret ring finger and B string 2nd fret middle, down to G string index 1st fret and B string open, then D string 1st fret middle, G open. Then G and B strings open to G string 3rd fret middle, B string 2nd fret index, to G string and B string 4th fret ring and pinky respectively, because next double stop is B string 4th fret pinky with E string 3rd fret middle finger and back to the G-B strings 4th fret, followed by G string 3rd fret middle, B string 2nd fret index to G and B open. Now, D string 4th fret ring sounded with B string open, then another G string 3rd middle, B string 2nd index and G and B strings sounded on the 4th fret as before, fingered ring and pinky, this time with index E string 2nd fret, to B string 2nd fret middle and E string 1st fret index.
At this point you are positioned to form a C# major chord and simply arpeggiate down with the double-stops.
Then it 1st position E, to F#m, to B and you're done!
That was a terrific job!
That was awesome. I love this song❤
Lennon song, great dual guitars by Paul and George, 50 years later played on a single Telecaster by a great guitarist, nice one Mike, don't think I'll get it, but I'll try!
Same here, But I'll keep on trying..!!
That was truly amazing Mike!
I've read it was George and Paul playing in harmony..... Sounds great when played on ONE guitar!
Awesome...love that song.
very good! Thank you for the lesson.
All right. I've had it. Enough of you playing everything better than me.
:)
HAHAHA - always remember music is not a competition. SImply express your art as the perfect individual that you are!
Great lesson, thank you.
sooooooooo good MIke!
One of my favourite guitar riffs ever, Lennon and McCartney were crazy jajajaja, a fucking genius.
I've been trying to learn this forever. Very clear and easy explanation, Mike, especially the explanation of following the E scale. I read where Joe Walsh thought this was done by one guitarist and spent a long time in college trying to learn to play both parts together. Many thanks! Do you have a Patreon? Never mind, I went to your website. Thanks. again.
Exceptionally Awesome Mate
This is a great lesson, thanks for doing this! Any chance you can do a lesson for the "Byrds"-sounding version from the Anthology?
Another excellent video, Mike!
I'll have you know that when we relax and watch RUclips here, that you are called "The Guitar Man", and we watch your videos. You're an all-around terrific instructor.
Best regards from L.A.
Thanks! I miss Los Angeles. Moved here from there 7 years ago. L.A. is the only place I've lived (and I lived in 6 different states) that felt like home!
@@MPfrance Wow!! I'm fr. New York, spent some time in L.A, early 80's. .sorry, didn't like it. Was,living in Tucson, Az. then..
DUDE ! THAT WAS BAD ASS GOOD !
A Masterpiece in pop music, the 60s and 70s were great. Miles Davis said in the 70s Jazz is dead it´s like pop music today imo
I keep on listening to the beginning of the video with no intention to learn the song, because your playing sounds so pretty🥺
