It is absolutely a brilliantly crafted song. It is masterpiece.

Thanks for your superb lesson! Exceptional ! I believe that George came up with those brilliant lead lines - then Paul very quickly came up with the harmony parts. What they created here was something SO original - no precedent for it. John, very selfishly said this song was a piece of garbage. Not giving George & Paul any credit for their work which actually MADE the song.

Lennon occasionally seemed to derive pleasure from creating a Mona Lisa and then painting a mustache on it - or equivalently doing the same thing to masterpieces created by the other Beatles. I just ignore those dumb remarks and enjoy the music.

@spindriftdrinker That is a very good one of putting it! Ive always heard if him doing this, for one instance on Till There Was You (which they played for theif Decca audition and EMI) John HATED it and thought it was a load of rubbish so he would mock the song with his rhythm guitar playing. Low and behold George Martin later said it was one of the songs he was most impressed by. That says it all!

Just an amazing guitar song. IT IS SO AMAZING THEY EVEN THOUGHT OF THESE LEAD PARTS….kind of orchestral. I think George probably started it out then when Paul started in on it , it became epic! Great job.

Kind of amazing to think John and George worked out the parts. There really was no precedent for it. Amazing and often dismissed (even by john) as a throw-alway, but complex parts. Great job.

Great lesson. There was a fantastic beatles complete from the 70s that did a great job on this. Milton okun (the book arranger) transcribed the lead part using 2 notes in the part instead of 1.this would mean plucking the 2 strings at once instead of using a pick. You get the duet effect with one guitar. I never mastered it but from what I got it did sound good.

Good job. I've had to play this tune in various tribute bands and classic rock bands, over the years and I have alway had the luxury of having two guitarists play the lead solo parts. I have done something similar as you do, if you are playing the part solo, but maybe a little different. I actually like yours a little better. It's a tough song to get to sound right and I am not one to try and "do my own thing," especially when it involves a Beatles or an Eagles tune. I try and keep it as close to the original version as possible. I will never understand some of these guitarist who always want to make it their own, because there is a reason that people liked the song in the first place, which is the SOUND, so why in the hell change it? lol

Possibly the PITCH SHIFTER was invented for such dual octave duets -?---wonder if an OCTAVE DIVIDER PEDAL---3 octaves apart --would suffice ? George & John played an amazing duet on this song !!----the old fashioned way !

Not yet. Been to London a few times, went and saw all the Beatle sites there, but not Liverpool yet. I could have in 2009, my old band Apple Jam got offered the gig there for the Beatles festival. I couldn't go because my 2nd son was being born so I couldn't make the gig. One day though.

@@12footchain Well, I hope you come over one year for a bevy in town! I'm a born and bred Scouser, and live near to Penny Lane by Greenbank Park. I've been going to the festival for donkey's years. Sadly, the original free Mathew Street Festival with the outdoor stages has bitten the dust, due to rising costs. But, it's sort of gone back to its roots. It all started in the 80s, when the Cavern Club and a few local pubs in the area, started to put bands on all day over the August bank holiday weekend. Then the council got involved and erected outdoor stages, and it expanded to cover most of the town centre. I once saw "Jimi Hendrix" in a local club one year, he was fantastic!
Over the decades, the town centre has changed massively. There are a multitude of places to eat and drink, tons of music venues, and it caters for everyone. There's a large student population, and it's party central at the weekend. Late Saturday afternoon is my favourite these days, then I head home early-ish, usually - before the children of the night come out!
The International Beatles Week is a paid for event. This year it's running from Wednesday, 23rd August to Tuesday, 29th August. The Mathew Street Festival is always on the bank holiday weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of August 2023, and it's all indoors these days. You might have to pay to go into a club like the Cavern, but the pubs are free to get in. The original Grapes Pub, just down the road from the Cavern Club, is where the Beatles use to drink. It's still going strong, it's very popular, and they always have something on, but it's far too small for a band, it's either a DJ or the Karaoke, it's a good laugh, though. I usually end up in my local haunt, the Cavern Pub, which is opposite the Cavern Club. A few years ago, Denny Laine popped in for a wee drink!
      Keep on rockin'. 🎸

Hey! I don't think I've ever seen another EDS with the tailpiece extended like Jimmy Page's until I spotted yours behind you. Not even John McLaughlin had that going on; what can you tell me?

    • @12footchain
      @12footchain  Год назад +1

Good eye! Well, that batch of them in 2020 had that feature with the tailpiece far back like that. I don't think I saw them before or since with that, and was just right place right time I guess. It's actually an epiphone G-1275, not the Gibson EDS. One day I'll hope to have the real thing, and if the tail on that isn't in the "Jimmy spot" I'll move it myself. I love that look, not sure if it makes a difference string tension wise, but love the look.

Fun fact 1: When Joe Walsh was a kid, he learned to play both guitar parts together (at once).
Fun fact 2: Joe Walsh owns the original artwork for the 'Revolver' cover (by Klaus Voormann), and keeps on threatening to colour it in!
Fun fact 3: Joe Walsh is now Ringo's brother in-law

John and George used sonic blue Strats (procured by their faithful roadie Mal Evans) on Nowhere Man. Your source might be mixing reference to that.
The strats are omnipresent on studio photos from as early as Ticket To Ride on into the Revolver sessions, so they may have found their way, in some part, on any number of tunes.
