I respect your opinion but for me it was the worst level in Spyro 2 because every other level in winter tundra is so cool and mystic march is not. Not only was it hard but it was not exciting. A robot city, a robot farm and a cloud temple were so cool meanwhile this level takes place in a jungle, WHATS SO COOL ABOUT THAT? Honestly just a bad level.

Ahh yeah, when you fly over and get the bird's eye view and can hear the wind rushing past... I hope it's as good in Reignited. :)

Autumn Plains is definitely one of my favorites too. I had a hard time beating Crush, so it was just so rewarding to finally get to Autumn Plains, hear that calming music, and explore that beautiful castle with no enemies to bother you. It took some time to figure out how to enter the tower though.

“Glimmer” from Spyro 2 is among my Top 10 favourite realms list mainly for the feelings of nostalgia it gives me from my childhood. Yeah it’s a very easy level and isn’t a very large one to explore, but it has such a pleasant atmosphere to it and I love the cheerful soundtrack and the mouse inhabitants with torch 🔦 mining hats. Shame it doesn’t have an opening cut scene of it’s own like all the other realms do but I still always enjoy revisiting this place 😊

My favorite pair has always been Zephyr and Breeze Harbour from Spyro 2. I like the concept that they both involve the war between the birds and the blobs, but the game puts you on a different side for each realm. Also, shooting everything with cannons and armed trolleys never gets old, not to mention babysitting the hilarious elephant-turtle-cow hybrids.

I completely agree with you on Mystic Marsh, the Professor's Pencil mission was awesome going back and forth across the map. Seashell Shore is my favourite in the trilogy, sure it's easy and relatively short but the minigames are super fun, the music is great and the level design is really pretty! Spyro 2: Summer Forest - Hurricos, Autumn Plains - Zephyr, Winter Tundra - Mystic Marsh
Spyro 3: Sunrise Spring - Cloud Spires, Midday Gardens - Spooky Swamp, Evening Lake - Charmed Ridge, Midnight Mountain - tie between Crystal Islands and Dino Mines
Honorable mentions: Stone Hill, Lofty Castle, Aquaria Towers, Skelos Badlands, Magma Cone, Metropolis, Molten Crater, Icy Peak, Frozen Altars

"You know when you are frustrated and you are stuck on a puzzle for ages and then it suddenly clicks. You do exactly what you need to do and then you pat yourself on the back for being so smart?"
Yes! That was my exact wonderful feeling that I never forgot when I figured out how to get to that darn secret area in the Haunted Towers level of Spyro 1. Good times and I actually love that level because of it. (I actually love all of the Dream Weavers stages though, homeworld included :P)

One of my favorite levels from the original trilogy has to be Wizard Peaks from Spyro 1. The cool color palette, the boppin' music, the snow gnorcs squashing the druids with their clubs, and the supercharge ramps that have you bulldoze through those big blue wizards. Also, the secret area located at the very start of the level, that allowed you to reach the wizards on ledges that were too high to reach before.
It was a really fun level, and I can't wait to play through it again in the remake.

    • @ToridoriGaming

My very first memory of Spyro was playing my cousin's copy of the game one Sunday when I was really young and trying my best to glide across to the top of the hill in Stone Hill, and failing miserably every time. Then I bought Spyro for myself and quickly mastered the entire game. I can't even begin to recall the amount of times I have actually completed Spyro in its entirety throughout the years. I am so hyped for the Reignited Trilogy. My favourite levels are Alpine Ridge, Wizard Peak, High Caves (those spider-like bugs freaked me out), Tree Tops, Dark Passage, Lofty Castle, Haunted Towers, Gnorc Cove and Twilight Harbour, and as much as they piss me off to sheer insanity, I actually like the flight games, too. Spyro is the best game ever! Crash Bandicoot is a close second.

    • @ToridoriGaming
      @ToridoriGaming  6 лет назад

Ooooh, a lot of Magic Crafters on that list! I agree about the spiders, I was so scared by them as a kid and it took me ages to realise you could use the fairy's kiss to kill them. Have you looked at a lot of footage for the game or keeping it a surprise? :)

Colossus has the best music track of any world in Spyro, that mix of tibetan chanting and the he funky, jazzy backbeat never ceases to get me vibing.
I also quite liked Cliff Town, the little gnorcs with the metal serapes we're such a neat concept.
I also quite liked Stone Hills, as well as any of the levels from Artisans that had the shepherds in them. Their fighting stances and they way they twirled their crooks had such an air of casual swagger to them that I couldn't help but feel enamored.

When you mentioned in the beginning that you would like it for any reason and then explaining when you was a child those key things you remember I could relate 100%
Levels in Spyro you couldn't hate, they all were unique and fun. Some frustrating, having no internet and being 5 years old but it's those moments that makes them more memorable.

I agree on the points made about Mystic Marsh, Lofty Castle & Dark Passage as those were some of my favorites for the same points made, but I could never leave out ANY of the Midnight Mountain worlds. Simply because reaching that point in the game was both enigmatic and exciting to me as a kid.
Crystal Islands was fun to fly through, beautiful and had memorable music. (I had the Greatest Hits version.) Minus the slide, but I had the patience for it.
Haunted Tomb felt atmospheric and I liked the dog inhabitants who asked riddles and turned Agent 9's tail into a snake. Again, minus the slide.
I liked always trying to find new ways to beat my time in Harbor Speedway and racing the Blue-Footed Boobies (Liked that they didn't shy away from their naming too.)
Agent 9's Lab felt like a controlled testing facility should feel, (Despite the Rhinoc invasion.) plus shooting the birds from the entryway to the room made me feel accomplished.
Dino Mines was a straight bitch for me to complete, but when I finally did, I came to appreciate the concept, the color pallet, the level design and everything else that I failed to when I was too enraged to give a fuck about any of it.
Desert Ruins for me was more for the color pallet, the music and its' underwater segments that reminded me of Aquaria Towers. It was also a sunny midday looking level which made it stand out a little more from the Mountains' other worlds.
The Sorceress' Lair had a cool skybox. I liked that I got to fly on a mini-UFO too, but that's about it. The battle was far too anti-climactic.
Bugbot Factory had the metallic corridors with the different colored rooms and it was just so pretty to me. I didn't mind the enemies either, and the fact The Sorceress had plans for Sparks added a little something to it.
As for Midnight Mountains itself, it had great atmosphere, music, overall level design, and even neat little side areas. And the fact it's the only hub level you can outright die in gives it that air of caution. One last note, I think we can all agree that giving Moneybags what was coming to him was a great way to break off that sour relationship.

Hey Tori, I'm a lifelong classic Spyro fan and I've enjoyed your review of the series. (even the "legend of" games which looked more interesting than I thought.) My top 10 realms (excluding bosses), in no particular order, would probably be:
    1. Stone Hill (spyro 1)
Classic and the same out of bounds feel you had.
    2.Twilight Harbor (spyro 1)
love the design and skybox of the place, has a final level feel and the gnorcs use guns!
    3. Scorch (spyro 2)
    Great music and fun layout
    4. Metropolis (spyro 2)
Robots and location feels like a proto ratchet & clank pitch, love the imaginative foes and the use of the evil "sheep saucers."
    5.Fireworks Factory (spyro 3)
great music, fun level, the game had some nice build up to this place by peppering in references to this factory in other parts of the game.
    6. Lost Fleet (spyro 3)
second best skateboard map, good art design, the rhynoc dressed as a ghost always makes me chuckle.
    7. Cliff Town (spyro 1)
like the design of map and town, the big guy's cartoonish slap sound always makes me laugh, the level probably has some of the best draw distance of all of them.
    8. Hurricos (spyro 2)
like the music and art design of the place. Again has a proto ratchet feel to it.
    9. Misty Bog (spyro 1)
spooky plant monsters that can eat spyro. Also love the lone gnorc with the chicken trap who's camping at the start.
    10.Frozen Altars (spyro 3)
I like the snowy Aztec look of the place.

My Top 3 Ream's (Only counting year of the dragon because that's the only one I have :P)
    1. Sunny Villa. The reason I like Sunny Villa so much is that it gives me a good vibe, all the colors calm me and the music is calming too. The enemy's are fun and easy and we cant forget the highlight of Spyro 3, the skateboarding levels and quests! :)
    2. Enchanted Towers. I found this realm really fun and quite easy to be honest. The music is catchy and bouncy and it is the music from Sgt. Byrd (who I bloody love) It is an easy piece of game play and also holds a skateboard course, earning my number 2 spot! :D
    3. (Of course this has to be here) The Spooky Swamp! I mean come on who doesn't like this level?! The music is a banger and is like the closest genre to Dubstep. (next to Molten Crater) The quests (destroy the signs and light the torches) are really fun and the sub boss makes this realm EVEN BETTER! Over all it is a very memorable Realm and the environment is somewhat beautiful in my eyes.
I hoped you like my top 3! During writing the 2nd mini paragraph i realized i wrote it the wrong way around and Spooky Swamp was meant to be number 1, Enchanted Towers number 2 and Sunny Villa number 3. Sorry for the confusion :) I loved you're list and I could tell a lot of time and effort was put into it, I agree with your picks and I cant wait to see you're next video, no matter what the topic :)

Oooh nice top 3! Sunny Villa is a pretty good level, I love the mini game with Marco and Rapunzel. "What, Marco sent you here? I've got a restraining order against him!"
Enchanted Towers as you know I'm also a fan of, and I do love the music just not on that particular level. But I agree, the skateboarding on that one is my favourite of the bunch!
And Spooky Swamp, yes that one is great! Only reason it didn't place is because once I had a missing gem, and also the firefly mini game.... :I

I think another thing going in Skelos Badlands's favour is that it was bundled with Sunny Beach in the demo in Playstation Magazine so it was the first introduction to Spyro 2 for many people, further cementing it in hearts and minds.

    Per world:
Artisans- dark hollow. This was the level that impressed me most when i played the demo, and i was always a fan of a peaceful dark level like this. Cant really give much reason more.
Peace keepers- icy cavern. I love snow and caves and dark so...
magic crafters- wizard towers. I love the wizards, plus snow and mountains and the fun supercharging
Beast makers- tree toos. While i could never finish it without a guide, i just have a fascination with tree houses.
Dreamweavers- lofty castle. I love everything here lol need i explain?
Gnastys world- gnorc cove. That music. Plus the nice colors.
Summer forest- glimmer. I love gems so the massive ones dotting the landscape just get me wet.
Autumn garden- probably crystal glacier. The flying minigame, and i love snow of course. Dont like this world much overall except the home itself tho.
Winter tundra- metropolis. Proto ratchet and clank. Also superfly superflame revenge on sheep.
Morning whats it called- probably cloud spires. Love the weather effects and the enemies.
Midday gardens- icy peaks? The ice level. Anyways, high snowy mountains with canadian bears and fun exploration and supercharge minigames
Evening lake- probably that snowy aztec level just because the ice breath was such a cool gimmick
Midnight mountain- agent 9. That whole section was so cool like a tropical island with high tech base hidden inside

Burning up the bushes was the first skill point I earned myself, Shiela’s mini game is fantastic and I love the secret gems I found ALL BY MYSELF!!, and of course the skateboarding.

Sheesh, choosing ten is very difficult...here's my attempt to do so:
Honorable Mentions: Terrace Village, Metropolis, Shady Oasis, Seashell Shore, Agent 9's Lab.
    10. Skelos Badlands (2)
    9. Cliff Town (1)
    8. Spooky Swamp (3)
    7. Dark Passage (2)
    6. Bamboo Terrace (3)
    5. Wizard Peak (1)
    4. Fireworks Factory (3)
    3. Ice Cavern (1)
    2. Breeze Harbour (2)
That leaves my "Number One." You actually brought it up briefly in this video.
    1. Dark Hollow (1)
I love this stage, despite it being a smaller level and nothing too chaotic, here's why I put it here: I love the night-time/evening stages (I mean...half my list has just. There's also Crystal Islands and Lost Fleet, which just missed the cut), first introduction to enemies that utilize metal shields, that one room with the poison floor, the dark world with the bright street lights.
And, most importantly, it's my favorite song in the trilogy, that REALLY helps this stage snag number 1.

Watching this made me realize how much my favorite realm is just... the entirety of 2. I remember almost every level of Ripto's Rage so distinctly, and every time a clip from one of them came up I just got hit with a wave of nostalgia, whereas with the ones from 1 and 3, I was usually squinting vaguely trying to remember them.
It's definitely because I spent most time with 2, of course. I was annoyed that 1 didn't have all of 2's quality-of-life updates and we didn't get 3 until a while later.

#3. Mystic Marsh - Even though "Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage" didn't stand out for me as much as the other three, something about the the level's safari themes appealed to me greatly.
#2. Enchanted Towers - Probably the most open level in "Spyro: Year of the Dragon," my favorite game in the trilogy, this particular level's design reminds me of the Dream Weavers realms.
#1. Dark Passage - The first Spyro game may be number two for me, but this level, in my opinion, had the best design, best enemies, and the best music in the entire trilogy.

Well, I did a least favourite realms so I’ll do favourite now:
10: Skelos Badlands. This is mostly because of the minigames. Yeah, I enjoy the Lava Lizard minigame.
9: Frozen Altars. Eustence. Need I say more?
8: Desert Ruins. I love desert levels and this is no exception. I enjoy the level design and the Shelia Bandicoot minigame. No actual Stone Golem boss though.
7: Charmed Ridge. I love magic and this is filled with it. Also, cat wizards on a motorbike.
6: Lofty Castle. The last level I played in the original game and I loved it. The chickens and the fat gnorcs were hilarious to young me.
5: Hurricos. The enemies are the only reason it’s here.
    4: Spooky Swamp.
I loved the minigames. Yes, the firefly bomb minigames is one of my favourites.
    It’s snowing on Mount Fuji.
3: Robotica Farms. The bug enemies were really cool to young me and they still are. Also, the best race track minigame in Spyro 2.
2: Everything in Magic Crafters. I already stated that I love magic and these realms ate great with different types of wizards, mages, magical beast and druids. I love it.
1: Breeze Harbor and Zepyher. My favourite type of levels is Industrial and War and these levels deliver in these aspects. The minigames are great what with the trolley, the cowlets, Romeo and Juliet and the mines were really fun.
0: Mystic Marsh. The pastel colour palette make this level stand out but the enemies, oh gods I love the enemies here. The mutants are great and I love the fusions they picked. The minigames are great though the Kangaroo Theives are a bit dull. Still great fun all around.

Oh mu hod, what an engaging list! Something i always enjoy regarding Spyro.
I do have to agree that Skelos Badlands and Metropolis are one of the best realms in Spyro 2, which is my favourite of the trilogy. I like how you mentioned Zephyr in Number One because that one's my favourite realm from that game. I also would consider Desert Ruins to be one of my favourite levels in Spyro 3, not just because of the TR reference. A lot of Midnight Mountain levels probably left me the biggest impression as a kid, which softened my experience when i replayed the game fully as an older boy few years back.
I am sort of surprised by the Spyro 1 levels being in minority in the list, and Spyro 3 being majority, because that would be opposite in my own list. It's your opinion though and Spyro 1 has the strong advantage of nostalgia and dream fuel for me.
Definetly agree that Mystic Marsh has probably the best minigame/sidequest/orb task(?) in the trilogy. Overall a list that was very interesting to watch and got through each level very smoothly.

I don't know what it is but I could never get on with Zephyr. I like the characters enough and the cowleks and Bo Peep are hilarious.. but the rest, hmmm... different strokes for different folks I guess. :D

And I also really loved the underwater tunnels. I just thought they were need.
Also, I wanted to know your thoughts on some Spyro stuff we’ve seen recently. Like, did you see Dark Passage or did you want to save it for yourself? What do you think of Agent 9’s gameplay? And do you like the bit of the Sorceress we saw?

    9-Lofty Castle/Haunted Towers
    8-Molten Crater/Seashell
    7-Cloud Spires
    6-Metropolis/Cloudy Temples

I can fully understand why you chose Mystic Marsh as your most favourite level Tori, I do like it too as it has a very good atmosphere, mini games and soundtrack. However my own personal favourite Spyro realm has to be “Sunny Villa” from Spyro 3. Main reasons being I love the happy music, lion 🦁 inhabitants, Roman style architecture, the climb to the top of the tower with Shelia and the skateboard 🛹 park with Hunter which is so much fun 😊

Actually, i agreed a lot with your opinions and realms in the video, very interesting to hear them so nice job! :)
It would be to hard for me to choose 10 or more realms, so i will write from each game my two favourites.
    Spyro 1:
    1) Dark Passage: Just Amazing! I really love the atmosphere and the enemies there, i wasn‘t scared at all as a little child, i always had to laugh when i saw them! :D
    2) Stone Hill: Simple but adorable and enjoyable. Nothing more to say.
    Spyro 2:
    1) Scorch: I love the whole design very much, also this realm gave us Hansel and Gretel, and they are such cool characters and of my favourites in the trilogy :D
    2) Glimmer: I just love everything there xD
    Spyro 3:
    1) Charmed Ridge: I think my favourite realm from the whole trilogy.
The idea with cat wizards as enemies is just amazing and something different.
The soundtrack fits so much with the realm and the design...how can someone not fall in love with it?
Can‘t wait to see it reignited! :D
2)Icy Peak: I just love ice levels and this is one of my favourites, the cute bears(?) there made my heart melt and i just enjoy every second i spent in this realm. ^^

Spyro 1 we agree on, but Spyro 2 I was never a massive fan of Scorch because of the flag dude... I hated that mini game. xD
Glimmer was quite nice for a realm to start off with, I like that one too!
Ooooh Icy Peak is so good, I hope they keep the stereotypical Canadian accents - "Me and Doug were supposed tah go ice fishing tahday." :D

Toridori Ohhh yes the terrible flag mini game your‘re so right xD
Hopefully the will keep the accent, maybe you remember i‘m German, so in the german version we don‘t have this canadian accent unfortunately. But i always play my video games in English, also Spyro so i can hear , that he was supposed to go ice fishing, in our all favourite canadian accent! :D Just a few days i‘m so excited!!!

Speaking of Fireworks Factory, one thing I wished they'd kept in Reignited was a lot of the old enemy sound effects. Just doesn't quite feel the same when you hit a ninja and don't hear "ooooooh."

I actually love Dark Hollow's moody nighttime gloom, since I find it incredibly relaxing along with the awesome music tbh. I've always been a fan of nighttime in video games and in real life (I love staring at the moon) so in the demo I was really fond of Dark Hollow instead. But I digress. Here's my list:
    10. Hurricos
    9. Lost fleet
    8. Icy peak
    7. Fractured hills
    6. Dark passage
    5. Dark Hollow
    4. Lofty Castle - minor note, I love this one a lot as well and while the music for a lot of stages, this is one of the best ones, I even have the track on my phone, these last 5 levels are hard to choose which one I like more so I consider all of them really close to each other.
    3. Tree Tops - The challenge in this one made me like it to no end, plus I like how it looks and the colors, like green flames, since my favorite color is green (and also grey) and in that note, this doesn't have to do with this, but I absolutely love the new skybox it reminds me of the sky of Fennmont from Tales of Xillia.
    2. Twilight Harbor - this comment is already too long so let's just leave this at, the sunset is amazing.
    1. Crystal Islands

Here are some of my personal favourites (one per homeworld and excluding boss realms, homeworlds and Sparx levels):
    Spyro 1:
    - Dark Hollow
    - Ice Cavern
    - Wizard Peak
    - Tree Tops
    - Lofty Castle
    - Gnorc Cove
    Spyro 2:
    - Aquaria Towers
    - Scorch
    - Metropolis
    Spyro 3:
    - Sunny Villa
    - Spooky Swamp (Kinda on here for a different reason. I think you know what that reason is, Tori. ',:-) )
    - Fireworks Factory (Cliche, I know)
    - Desert Ruins
An honourable mention goes to Magma Cone ("I suppose you're here for the [realm ranking] party!") The only reason it's not on my Spyro 2 list are those damn orb challenges with Hunter.

10:20 It might also be because Skelos was available in Spyro 2's demo, at least in Europe (Disc 58 and a special one). Sunny Beach was also there. So I'm especially fond of those levels, as they were the first ever Spyro levels I played (I didn't know about the first game since I got my PSX in 1999).

You played the Spyro 1 demo too eh? Personally I preferred dark hollow of the two there as back then it felt kind of mysterious and was a nice contrast being a nighttime level. The campfires were also a nice touch. Though i also loved chasing the egg thief iin the out of bounds area. Though I wish I could have enjoyed enchanted towers myself, it was the only time upon replaying Spyro 3 that I had to mute the music as it just got on my nerves. Sgt Byrd's theme is too repetitive for my tastes heheh.
