- My review of the HTC One M8 is here! Finally a worthy replacement for my One M7 from a year ago. This phone features a stunning ID, lightning fast performance, and aside from a couple of small complaints... is damn near as good as it gets. I hope you guys enjoy this video because I feel like now, one year into doing phone reviews, this is about as good as we can make them... It's a lot of work, but if you guys enjoy it, then it's all worthwhile....

People are so enthusiastic about this stuff, but for me when I got my hands on the One M7 a year ago I had hardly ever even touched an Android device, and other than my iPhone 4 I hadn't owned a smart device since my HP iPaQ that ran Windows Mobile......
I think I'm finally getting the hang of it though...

BTW I agree with the front facing speakers but the rear facing one on my Oppo Find 5 is actually quite loud enough to listen to it most of the time without the cup LinusTechTips 😃

I just switched my iPhone 4s for it . . . I guarantee you will not be disappointed it is 10x better then even iPhone 5s let alone 4s.

Me too! My parents have had there HTC Desires for almost 4 1/2 years now and I've been extremely impressed with how they haven't skipped a beat since they got them and the quality of the phone. I think their just ahead of the game.

Absolutely epic video, Linus & team. Your enthusiasm and professionalism never ceases to amaze me :) (and of course the odd silly stuff that you do in each video). I watched every video that you uploaded for the past almost 3 years and I don't comment on every video, although I watch each and every one, but I had to just give a quick shout out for THIS particular video. You guys evolved a LOT since the NCIX/shaky camera/garage days and I just enjoy watching your videos, no matter what you are reviewing. Well done and keep it up and keep the great content coming. :)
I have to agree with you. I have watched his videos for a few years and really enjoy them. I watch each and everyone. They have came along way and love the content they keep bringing.
Now about the video. I have been an HTC owner for about 3 years now and love them. The build quality and hardware is always been top notch. I enjoy the Sense UI that they keep updating too. I think I will eventually get one of these M8 models.

You make me sad Linus. I gotta do the cup, the screen on my iPhone 5 is tiny, real world battery life is terrible, the screen scratches too easy, camera is horrible in low light, screen isn't even 1080p, performance and multi-tasking is slow, and I'm tired of their charging cables costing 30 dollars and locking out third party cables. I lose the charger all the time! And the price tag a long with it was all around a bad package. Only 2 more years after this damn contract. I'll probably end up buying a new phone far before it expires, and I'll tell you what, it will never be an apple device.

I don't really understand why different viewing angles even matter on phones, when are you ever looking at it sideways?
Sometimes I'll have a group of my friends around me looking at my phone, and it would let them see it better

After watching this video I went out and bought the HTC one m8 . I'm currently using it now and wow it is awesome. Really fast and responsive . Looks flash too. Thanks for the review Linus :)
I had a galaxy s2 so huge upgrade for me.
I have a Droid Razr Maxx. Will be a huge upgrade for me as well. I can't wait to get his phone.

Hey Linus, if you rotate the phone the other way for landscape so the power button is on the right rather than the left, the navigation buttons switch to the top and that, with the black bar that says HTC on the bottom, centers the keyboard.
very good point. Not optimal for me still because then the lock button is right under my hand (and it's a sensitive little bugger) but this is still better than uncomfortable typing. thanks for the tip :)

Great review. Just got the M8 yesterday (and later OTA update to 4.4.4) and I'm getting the dot view case today. The Boom Sound speakers are amazing.
I enjoyed the review. I just got the HTC One M8 yesterday and I love this phone.....I love the way it feels. I am very pleased with my decision to get this one instead of the Samsung S5. I am very impressed with the speed, color and the all around look and feel of this phone.
360p?
I hate on screen buttons and touch buttons. They're such a pain, I find myself accidentally hitting the back button and exiting out of apps on my S4 and my old Droid 3. It seems like there aren't any phones with real buttons anymore. Whatever happened to actual buttons???
They're shit and degrade the look of the phone. Also a lot of apps support immersive mode now which hides them buttons during gaming. Not too much of a problem anymore.

Wrong. The Z2 corrects a lot of the problems of the Z1. It's a damn nice phone.

I've been thinking of switching from iPhone to something else for a while, but I'm scared. Every non-apple touch screen phone I've tried feels like it's had a laggy screen compared to the iPhone; the display lags behind where your thumb is on the screen, and that instantly puts me off. If someone could show me a phone that had the same snappy response as the iPhone then I would feel more comfortable switching.
I don't now what you've been using. My nexus 4 operates quick and snappy.

are you on testing with a display phone in a store? remember those phones are installed with "display mode" software form the store and may slow down the phone
Even my Samsung S2 didn't have that. I had a S3, Nexus 4 and now Nexus 5, all very fast snappy phones, My friend has the S4, no problem. Tested the S5 yesterday instore, very fast. Haven't tried the M8 yet.
BULLSEYE pc Yes, testing with a display phone in store. Always very disappointed. How else are you supposed to try them out? I don't know anyone with flagship HTC or Samsung phones.

This video just got me outta ma mind!! The best skilled artist I've ever hashed yet. Your explanation is just freaking awesome. Exterminating experience, devastating domination , easy expectation (just rapping). You are one bomb reviewer! Htc.. U just need to get a license straight away, cuz u drivin me crazy! I've purchased this phone, it simply doesn't spare me all the time, my hands keep feeling the elegant touch, massive hardware that i keep abusing, the professional camera(though it's a low mega pixel packed). The amount of gaming i do, i freaking never abused my psp as much! The sense 6 gives a mature and highly customizable feel.

Love the build quality, I wish Samsung would wake up and realise how important it is. After years of using Galaxies I am moving away from them to get this masterpiece. I have enjoyed using them all but I've had enough of their cheap feel.

I got the HTC one M8 last week, it will take some getting used to but I like it. The samsungs have a few nice features which I miss... but I really don't miss the cheap plastic cases.

I suppose phones are not your area of expertise, but still I would like to continue watching phone reviews by Linus. He puts an extra something that no other site that I know of does and makes it very entertaining. And he even gets the manufacturers to giveaway phones to the viewers! You're the man, Linus, keep it up.

One thing that I would add to the downside of the phone - temperature. It heats up quite a bit.

HTC One M8 Owner myself. It's hard to break ppl of the popular iphone. Being as tho iPhone used htc ideas to make the iPhone6
My favorite functions are gesture unlock and the 3D feature on camera. And like the image of this video says, it absolutely is the far best phone review. Keep going like this :)
Serviceability and screen quality are the two things that draw me to a high end phone. That's why I am happy with my s4 although front facing speakers would be nice but for serious listening I go with headphones. Great review Linus!

I have a droid razor hd and i love it but I can't stand when it lags badly.
I owned the M7 and I finally got the M8. I am in love with this phone. He's not lying about all this either. The battery in it ASTONISHED me. I stayed on it with a Skype video conversation for 2 hours from a full charge, unplugged and STILL had at least around 30% left. I liked the M7, but I LOVE the M8.
