- I announced it on other social platforms, but now I'm doing it here: I'm having a baby in a few weeks! It's been a trick to control my breathing enough to sing these past months (not to mention the exhaustion), but I just had to record this heart-wrenching lullaby. It's one of my favorites.
Ofra Haza was a vocal and linguistic goddess (she sang most of the different language versions of this song, holy wow) and I've looked up to her singing prowess since I saw The Prince of Egypt in theaters, back in 1998. This is my humble tribute to her and to this incredible film. May she rest in peace. ❤️

I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to have a mother that would sing like this to me as a child. Your kid is very blessed. Definitely feel the love in this song. The Hebrew felt incredibly touching!

Honestly, this is one of the few songs that have actually made me tear up. For a song to do that, it takes not only one extreme singer but a truly worthy story to be told. Not only does this song cover it, but Mrs. Serena, you have complimented this song as beautifully as anyone I've ever had the chance to hear. Kinda like the female version of Peter Hollens. He's in the top 3 for the males. Hope you have a wonderful day ma'am.

Damn my mom my mom sang this to me when I was little right before she put my siblings and I up for adoption and then my foster mom sang this to me right before she passed away in my arms and so this song is extremely haunting every time I hear and it makes me think of her!

Singers breathe from their diaphragm. That struggle is real. I also had issue controlling my breathing. Sometimes I breath from my chest by accident. That's why my music mentor would put his hand on my stomach and say "Move my hand". It's a exercise for singers to make sure they are breathing from their diaphragm. Now I do that. I put my hand on my stomach and say in my head "move my hand".
Y'all should try it
And BTW, singing to a baby before he/she is born promotes a better outcome of recognizing the mother or father voice so they can sleep.

I used to sing this song to my daughter. She passed away at 7 months old this was the last song I sang her I have a tattoo of a daisy in the stem it says "river, oh river" every time I hear this song memories come back of all the times I sang it to her. Thank you for covering this song. Your version is the last song my baby heard before going to the palace in the sky. The last time I saw her at her final viewing I sang it to her at least 20 times while I sobbed. She had cerebral palsy I laid her down for a nap and she didn't wake up.
