    Hi Trevi,
    Thanks for an excellent video, with perfect timing.
    Last Christmas I built two Snowflake Christmas Tree’s based on the “LawrenceDrive Lights” design.
    Sadly, I ran out of time to build the controller box and learn enough about xLights to create my own show.
    I ended up using Pixel Testers to control the lights.
    I know there are some excellent video’s showing how to setup a show with xLights, but having one showing Snowflakes and the various effect, is perfect for my needs.
    I just need more time to build the controller box
    Keep-up the great work

      Hey Dave. Thanks for watching. As you probably already find out, building a show takes a lot of time. I need to speed up this year show. I feel like I am already running late. Let me know if I can be of any help.

    Thanks for this video, It helped with the extra lights, because I change my setup every year, It meant I didn't need to cut pixels off. big thumbs up!

    Great vedio like always Trevi .I love the way you explain things and make them more easy to understand.
    There is one thing you are not using and that will make things much easier,and that is the visualiser in Xlight.that will do all the channel count and there is no need to do it from the controller.
    Open xlight…..controller tap……..visualiser.
    And ones you open the visualiser you will see all the props ,and just drag and drop on the port you want.

      Hey Mouris, thank you for your words. You are right. Someone already point out the use of visualizer. It does make things a lot easier. I will make plans to make a short video on it. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Genial el tutorial. Me gustaría saber cómo crear tus propios patrones de estrellas o de copos de nieve para incluirlos en las plantillas de Xlights. Verdaderamente es un software lleno de posibilidades. Gracias desde España.

      Thanks den bel. xLights has an automatic backup setting. Maybe you can recover your work. Go to File, Preferences and in the Backup file see if you have any option turned on. If Backup on lauch is turned on then open a file browser and see what's inside the folder used as Backup Directory. You should see many files with different dates. Go to the Controllers tab and change your Temporarily folder to one of those folder and see if you can recover some of your work.

    Great video again, Noticed the End Channels are deferent between lights and the controller, so does xlights works automatically the amount of pixels meant to be on those kind.of snowflakes, or do you have to tell xlights what the end channels are

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад +1

      Hi. Xlights will only lit the amount of light defined for that element. If the snowflakes is configured to gave 48 lights, then that is the number of light that will lit, no matter how many you have connected to the controller. All it needs is the starting channel or position. Normally both the start and end channel will match on both side, but because I wanted to keep those last to pixels this was the only way of doing it. Thanks for watching.

    Hey Reynold,
    I have a question maybe you can help me.
    Got 4 snowflakes and I'm going to add them to the end of my singing bulbs.
    To test them do I need connect the singing bulbs first?

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад

      Hey Danny. If you just want to make sure they work, you can just connected them in series and plug them into any port. But since you the final setup is to have them after your singing bulbs, then I will suggest that connect the signs bulbs as well. Create virtual strings on that port so you can easily configure the channels of each element. Don't forget the power injection for the snowflakes.

    Hey Trevi,
    I have a question, in one of your videos you mentioned when you power down the fpp you need to do it manually.
    So my question is when we run the show do we leave the pi player running 24/7 ?

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад +1

      Yes. The Fpp stays on 24/7. My show runs from 5pm to 10pm. I have a digital timer switch to which I have connected the Falcon player and power supplies. This timer turns on 10 minutes before the show and turns off 10 min past 10pm. Since there is no shutdown sequence for the controller we can do this. There is no reason to leave the controller and power supplies on for 19hrs.

    can i use xlights players to run the show instead falcon player?

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can. xLights also comes with a desktop app called 'xschedule64'. You can use this app to create a playlist that will repeat itself if you want. Not as robust as the Falcon player but good enough.
      Your computer will need to be on in order for it to run.
