I studied the whole summer from sophomore year to junior year by doing practice tests that I found online and reviewing the work I did. That got me up to a 1400. Then I used khan academy the whole month before a test and used their short quizzes. I aimed to get a 800 on math because for me that was more possible than doing well in English. And do that I had to make sure I know every type of question. So use practice tests and if u don’t know how to do a problem in ur practice tests ask a teacher or one of your friends.

These tests are pretty good at assessing how much you retained in your math and reading classes throughout high school - granted you went to a decent hs and payed attention. The only exceptions are the people who take too much time, bc some of the time constraints are tough (I struggled on reading personally). I got a 33 on my first act and ended up with a 35 by the end of junior year. I took 1 sat and got 1500. (Didn't take more bc I liked the science/English sections on act better). Never even opened a book, just kept taking tests. If you know the content, all you have to do is get used to their testing format. It's nothing more than that. I think it's easiest to just pay attention from day 1 of high school, and you are destined to do well. However, if you're behind, you have to play a game of catchup bc you can only do so well without knowing the content. If you struggle with time, take the sat over act. Take practice tests once you have reviewed your material to get used to the format. Also listen to this guy, he has a lot good points. Good luck to you guys out there.
Tip with the reading section that honestly releaved so much stress: SKIP THE PASSAGES! And go straight to the questions, 90% of them will tell you to go to a line or go to somthing like passage 3 and 4. The questions about the main idea if the passages useally pop up at the end of the passage. And train your brain to skip very unnecessary words in between bigger words like “and, is, for, the”
but if they don't you must search the passage over and over. You will end up just wasting time and guessing (aka getting it wrong). Plus, if you read it, you will feel more confident in your answer choices.

Took the PSAT in 7th grade (last year) with 3 nights of some studying with homework on top of that. Even thought it was high school stuff I hated my score which was about a 950-960. Hopefully I can improve and get like 1000-1200 this year. It’s this Wednesday for me ( 10/16/19) as an 8th grader so hopefully I do better!
You're right, it really does depend on your school. In my school for example, a 1500 not unheard of. In fact, every new test date, there's more people with high 1500's. Tbh it's not half bad, because it motivated me to get an insane score, but going to a public school, I was not asking for this kind of competition lol. Trick is motivation and lots of college board practice tests.

Lego_fett define “good” though. If you mean a college like UCLA, Harvard, or Yale, then you’re basically right. However there are many, many schools widely considered good schools which do not require you to get a 1500 gpa or better to qualify.

SAME HERE! Bur questions, questions, QUESTIONS. If you were writing notes before, don’t do that now as much, just make questions for yourself. It’s called active recall! Maybe have a look at that and “overcoming the curve of forgetting!” You can search up *studyquill* it has helped me a l o t ❤️
the reading section is when i fall asleep so my teacher told me to find that one passage i struggle with. He told me to guess on everything so i have extra time to finish the rest with more time to check or try the former

Last year I got 970 but I didn’t try, I didn’t know about them because my mother didn’t remind me and I didn’t get any sleep that night, I played video games I’m really confident that I can get around a 1300~ if I tried. I’m going to 11th grade this fall, and took the SAT for the first time June 1st(while in tenth grade) I got a 1200 which I’m kind of disappointed with as so far I’ve been a straight a student althroughout. Hopefully I can improve it.
I can help you improve it! I was also a straight A student and I got destroyed on my PSAT so it really hit home. But that allowed me to figure out the SAT in and out and get that 1540! So i can really relate to you! If you need extra help I got you!

Last year I got 970 but I didn’t try, I didn’t know about them because my mother didn’t remind me and I didn’t get any sleep that night, I played video games
I’m really confident that I can get around a 1300~ if I tried. Or higher. I’m a really smart kid with really bad adhd. So I need caffeine and will soon finally get medicated for it. So I will be able to focus enough even though I have adhd. My iq is 133 but that was in 2009 and my adhd at its worst.
Freshman year: 890
Sophomore year: 1000
These are my psat scores i really want to do better for my junior year psat so I can qualify for the scholarship, and of course do good on the SAT this fall since i'll be taking it right after this fall/winter. Then maybe again spring 2021, and maybe summer 2021.

To everyone disagreeing with his statement that 1350 is not that good on the PSAT, the average scores for the psat were like 100 lower this year (2019 fall) than previously. I got a 1350 and it put me in top 2%-1% of test takers this year.

it'll literally be 10 yrs post-graduation for me come 2022 but I have to ask - why am I still seeing a ton of videos on the SAT and what not about 1600 when I remember hearing "it was increased like a few years ago" when I was in HS and I look it up and am right (as in, they did do that in 2005 based on some article I'm reading)

I missed one math question on a practice test our school gave us, it was an easy question I solved almost instantly as soon as I got home. All of my problems come from reading and writing, especially writing. I got a 1520/1600 on the test my school gave us. Im hoping to get a perfect score on NMSQT, but I really need to practice reading and writing
