I’m watching this because my 8 year old Grandson wants to finish High School by 12 yrs old and take the SAT. We found out he could read and spell when he was a year and a half. We thought he was pretending to read at 2 until I walked over to see what he was reading. It sounded so realistic. Yep he was reading. Later at the Sprint store I heard him reading in Spanish. Now at 8 he speaks 5 languages . Thank you guys for your video.
A lot of SAT videos and books are like "SAT for math" or "Sat for reading" but the thing is, I got the exact same score for both of them in the PSAT so seeing that you give general information is very just yes to me. Thank you.
If you use them wisely then you can make the most of them. Try to figure out what methods you're going to use on the tests and work on techniques for the first 4 tests or until you have it figured out. Then use the rest of the material to practice in test conditions similar to those on test day.
I paid for classes and went from a 1050 on the psat to a 1490 so dont listen to the advice that says dont pay for tutoring if you have the money i highly recommended it
Bryan K if you don’t mind me asking, how long were your tutoring sessions? Did you get tutored for a couple of weeks, months? How long did it take you to make such a huge improvement? Great job btw!
Lily Chang i took kaplan courses starting September of my sophomore year it was a six session course. I ended up taking this course a couple of times along with the act course all the way up until the beginning of my junior year. At the beginning of my junior year i started going to a private tutor once a week. Ive been going ever since and im taking my last SAT June 2nd. (The kaplan courses were 2 hours each and the once a week tutoring is one hour a week. The kaplan course has about 30 minutes of homework a week and my tutor gives me about 1.5 hrs of homework a week. I highly recommend doing either kaplan or if money is an issue than khan academy before getting a tutor if you are a sophomore or younger before you start with a tutor to get the best strategies. Good luck!) If you are a junior you are probably too late to do both so pick one of them. Id recommend the tutor
Bryan K Thanks! I’m actually a junior and I did terribly on the sat in April. It’s odd to me because I have a 4.2 gpa and I’m in the top of my class. I’m going to do the retake on the 25 ofAugust, would you suggest the tutor combined with khan?

I don’t understand why we are forced to learn useless information that will not help us in the future in any way. If I want to become a doctor, when would I need to know how to solve equations. “Oh no he has an open wound! Let me find this variable to save him!”
This is probably a question that crosses every student's mind at some point. Frank and I may do a video giving our perspectives on the answer later on, but I'll shed some light on it right now. The main purpose of school is not to learn concrete information, like how to take a derivative or what the meaning of "sesquipedialian" is. Indeed, the main purpose of school, in my opinion, is to learn how to learn more and more efficiently. High school and college don't prepare you for a specific job because, for almost any job you take, you'll have to learn a lot very quickly (get over the learning curve). The faster you can do this, the more efficient you'll be, and the sooner you'll be ready for another project. Knowing how to learn efficiently is an invaluable skill. How do you build it? By learning as much as possible and challenging yourself, an environment that both high school and college promote. -Abe
What are you talking about? You want to be a doctor and a little math is difficult for you? A doctor needs to be smart enough to understand pretty much any academic challenge. That should be easy for any doctor. It's not about solving for a variable. It's about critical thinking and problem solving. The MCAT covers 70% critical reading, and then has a mathematics section between 10 and 15%. If that's too hard for you, you need to work hard or find something else.

I find the SAT reading part very difficult. Passages are frequently filled with lots of jargon that eventually just makes me miss the general ideas. Things like the history and occasionally science passages tend to confuse me a lot because I cant get the general idea of the passage, and especially not in the time limit. I would just keep practicing but my grades in the reading part haven't went up from 580 in a month, and so I am not sure if my problem can just be solved by more practice because I've been locked on the same pace. I don't know what to do.
Try annoying the passage as you go along. That way you can summarize the main themes as you read, and won’t have to decipher the jargon if you have to go back
Anonymous this was 6 months ago so I hope its not too late but there are basically 3 methods to the SAT reading. Just read it, underline while you read, or go to the questions first. I’d try out one of all of those 3 on a practice test to see what works best for you. I tried underlining on my last test and I went up two points on the 36 scale.
I always recommend reading the Economist as a good way to practice for the verbal section of the SAT. It has small articles with sophisticated writing. I think it's some of the best practice there is. If you can handle the passages in the Economist, then the SAT passages will be no problem.
Thank you so much! I plan on taking my first SAT on March! I got a 1000 on the psat which is bad, I did excellent on the English section, but I literally guessed on every single math question. So these few months I'm really going to focus on math (it's hard because I'm not taking any math classes atm, just next semester)
Great tips👍🏼i will be applying to Harvard, Duke, Vanderbilt, & Stanford next fall and luckily they all superscore so I will be taking the SAT multiple times, hoping for a 1580/2340
Also, taking the test multiple times will not only make your score go higher, there's super scoring (I think that's what it's called) where the college will average out your best scores.
I really like the video but did anyone else not notice how strong that man's eyebrows we're? If you fought him you would have thought he had four arms , you would wonder how much more he could bench press , I hear that's only their first evolution and he decided to not evolve ,They once stopped a robbery of a near by store , got shot bought the beer and still made it to the party on time ...he has the most interesting eyebrows in the world , stay thick and bold my friends.
I am also from Ukraine! I lived there until I was five and then I moved to Russia, and at age 10 to United States. I am going into eight grade and I am really concerned about my future. I hope you did well on your SAT
PSAT scores just came out for my Sophmore class today. I got a 1020/1520 (69th percentile). Although it may seem like it was a decent score, Id like to think that i should be in the 90+ percentile. My best friend got a 1450/1520 (99th percentile) which was insane. I used to be in gifted programs in elementary/middle school and was always smarter than at least 65% of my peers. Now that I received my score, I am now humbled and ready to prepare however I can for next year’s SAT. Thank you for the very informative video. I will begin doing whatever I can to prepare earlier, not later. Studying starts now, one year before the SAT.
love khan academy! went from 1180 on psat to 1320 on my first sat. i’m trying to get to 1420, but math is my BIGGEST struggle. khan academy helps but there’s not enough videos.
Trudy Chen Definitely not a good idea to take the optional essay for me. Most of the college/university I want doesn’t require it. And it’s worst because it made me less motivated. Started off being hungry arriving at the testing center, was already tired after the English part, couldn’t focus on the math part. Then finally the essay, I had to read and write about sand. SAND! I don’t think I even tried on the essay
Thanks for sharing guys! I remember taking the SAT and improving over 400 points, thanks to this advice AND the advice I give in my video on improving your SAT score. Cheers!
Thanks guys for this video. I took the SAT last year and got a 1420. Do you guys have any recommendations on how to get it up to 1500? I've gone through most if not all the practice SAT books recommended by most tutors and online websites. Will retaking them benefit at all?
I am just good at seeing through people's bullshit, it is really hard to win argument with me. With practice you will become very good at making people feel bad about themselves. SAT tests critical thinking, which is opposite to wrong, naive, and shallow thinking. I would say debate, arguing with smarter people would be a very good way to improve your thinking, or just taking the tests, a lot of them.
My SAT TEST is on 4 may Wish me luck been working since last year i didn't make a progress but i studied lol Update: i did my SAT but i was so damn sick i couldn't do my best at the first section the reading since i was having a hard time focusing and english is not my first language so i think I'm probably gonna retake it if anyone wants to know what i got I'll tell you guys the results will come out next week
Just start practicing! Buy a prep book and start doing the practice tests. The more practice you do and the earlier you start, the better off you'll be. -Abe
I also recommend doing a practice test every week to know your level and understanding any mistakes. Revise old math & grammar rules. Buy a practice book and work through it, also try to solve 25 English questions and 25 math questions on khan academy per day. Hope this helps.
I would definitely recommend Khan Academy, I don't know if it was mentioned in the video but the practice tests and I believe the practice problems are written by college board. They also have an option to practice the essay if you plan to do so. My second SAT is tomorrow and I've been using Khan religiously.
My bro practice no without knowing the main principles of math won’t get you anywhere..... I highly recommend college panda math , which is affordable on book depository website... goodluck
when you said you took 2-3 SAT sections per day, did you take the sections from a practice exam? because I thought there were 7 test released(maybe there is more) eventually would there be enough "full" tests to take on the Saturdays?
+Metalich Yes, sections from a practice exam. When I ran out of the practice exams released by the college board, I just used the exams in other prep books
Social Science Syndicate I heard that these practice tests aren't as good because they aren't from collegeboard themselves. Is this true, or will I benefit from taking practice tests from these other sources?
+JH.13 The best, most realistic practice tests are the ones from the college board. So make sure to work through all of those before using tests made from third party sources. However, tests from the Princeton review or other exam prep companies do a very good job of mirroring the actual SAT and thus serve as excellent sources of practice. They're definitely worth your time. -Abe
Another thing that will help, is asking for extra time while signing up for the SAT, sometimes they'll give you double the time if you genuinely need it
my first language is japanese and it’s well-known as far-related language from english so i have the huge disadvantage at taking SAT. can you two tell what non-english speaking students like me should do for dealing with this kind of problem?
Hey, I loved all the tips you guys gave to help me prepare for the SAT. Unfortunately, I see no way for me to find the time to do all of this stuff. I'm not even in a sport. It's that all of these honors classes give way too much homework. I spend about 6 hours daily on homework, and trust me it's not a personal problem, it's the classes. I'm a freshman in high school and I want to start as early as possible. Have you ever had this problem? What do you recommend? I guess what I'm trying to ask is what method of study is the most worthwhile? Thanks for your time!
Hello Jonah. First of all, great job for challenging yourself by taking difficult classes. Like we said, taking these difficult classes is the BEST way to prepare yourself for the SAT. So keep that in mind; you're already setting yourself up to do well. You're a freshman so, honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the SAT. If you can set aside a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday, start taking some practice tests. But honestly, it isn't a priority right now. You'll probably have more time over the summer and during winter/spring break, so you can start then too. Really do remember, though, that it's very early and the classes you're in will prepare you very well. -Abe
+Jimmy Sparkles I don't know of any specific strategies geared towards more archaic passages. My best advice would be to practice with them more. This can be through additional practice tests, or simply by reading more literature from the 18th and 19th century. I'm sure your English teacher would have a few good recommendations. -Abe
When you said Calvin and Hobbes I thought you were referring to John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes. After doing a Google search, your statement makes a lot more sense.
This was very helpful even for the CETS (Philippines) where in we test the same subjects except we’re only allowed to take it once for every college that we apply to. I’ve got three months left to study for it and I’m extremely nervous 😥 I’m using Khan Academy and I’m revisiting every topic that we’ve studied during high school. It’s very hard to look back on past topics especially that I’m not very familiar with them because I didn’t listen as much as I should have during high school which i really regret ☹️
Easy for people who grew up studying in countries like china, Singapore, india etc. cos our asian syllabus is more indepth and difficult than western ones.
Even Maths has memorization. I didnt select biology because I hate to memorize I thought I will now understand and study but when I came to Higher Senior Secondary school. Physics,Chemistry,Maths is all about doing it before exam and spitting it on the paper and I get less marks. Before in Secondary school I was in international Indian curriculam. We had to understand and do stuff on our own in the exam. I used to score better
Connor Seals I’m taking it tomorrow for the first time and I’m dying inside. I’ve been taking practice tests and getting a decent score but I took one today and it’s so bad??? What even happened?😥
So I’m here the summer before my 11th grade year I got promoted with a 3.4 unweighted 3.5 weighted and I intend on graduating with a 4.0 and making at least a 1200 on the sat I received a 920 on the psat any tips ?
The one thing I'm gonna get out of school in general is that if I like it I'm gonna know how to learn more about it. Example is learning CPR start off easy and challenge yourself until you get A1 at it
Huffle puff I actually surprised myself I thought I was going to fail like in 800-900+ looks like being an honor student was worth it even though I don’t take AP class. Was LIT but being on the test feels like hell and I was fucked up not studying LOL 😂
Hi, I am currently in my 2nd year of middle school (7th Grade). While I will definitely adopt your advice now and in high school, I recognized that the information that you provided was geared more towards students already in high school and are currently preparing for it. Do you by any chance have any advice of how I can prepare for the SAT before I enter high school? Thanks in advance.
Alright I'm in 8th grade. What can I do to get even more prepared. I have all ap classes. What can I do to make me more prepared and smart to take the SAT
Hahaha, don't get too worked up, JC Corbes. It seems like you're doing way more than enough, so pat yourself on the back. As long as you put in the work to do well in your classes, and you go through some practice tests on the side, you will be extremely well prepared, especially if you're taking such difficult classes so early on. Don't worry, you're way ahead of the game! -Abe
11:25 oh gosh I have the same history book as yours. I’m a Vietnamese with a 3.9 cumulative GPA ( unweighted) and a 1200 PSAT. Just took my SAT on June 2nd and I think I did horrible on the reading section ( maybe because English is myself second language ?) Any suggestion for improvement?
Thankyou! This helped a lot and helped me not to panic because I’m taking the sat in the summer of 2018 and I’m kinda nervous. But i know if I follow the test and understand it’s tricks etc I’ll probably kill it.

Thank you so much! I plan on taking my first SAT on March! I got a 1000 on the psat which is bad, I did excellent on the English section, but I literally guessed on every single math question. So these few months I'm really going to focus on math (it's hard because I'm not taking any math classes atm, just next semester)
+Julia Excellent, good plan, Julia. Hard work always pays off. -Abe
THIS GAVE ME MORE ANXIETY 😭
Me too😭
my test is in 30 minutes , im legit waiting in the school to start watching this , I DONT HAVE THE TIME
whenever I feel self-motivated without studying, I always fail. I feel like I got all of the questions right
Great tips👍🏼i will be applying to Harvard, Duke, Vanderbilt, & Stanford next fall and luckily they all superscore so I will be taking the SAT multiple times, hoping for a 1580/2340
Augustus Mayhew Out of 2340? I’m pretty sure maximum more sat is 1600.
I was looking up how to hack the servers of the SAT test but oh well
What if I have 8.5 hrs 😂😭
9:17... don’t you mean khan-cept 😏😏😏😏
good one
Ishank Mankotia he was making a joke about Khan academy (a website that helps you study for the SAT)
Ishank Mankotia No idea what you mean by accent? He’s making a khan academy reference. The guy in the video was using it.
@@ishankmankotia4596 are you dumb-

I like the mountain background on your computer.
+Asim Khan Not quite our proudest feature of this video, but Frank appreciates the compliment nonetheless!
Also, taking the test multiple times will not only make your score go higher, there's super scoring (I think that's what it's called) where the college will average out your best scores.
This is the best advice that I've ever encountered.
Thanks.
Steps to getting perfect SAT/ACT scores ->
1. Be asian or Indian
Indians are asians
can confirm this.
Indians are Asian. No wonder your score was so low
Arabic too
Every Indian in my school has a 90+ average in every class
I really like the video but did anyone else not notice how strong that man's eyebrows we're? If you fought him you would have thought he had four arms , you would wonder how much more he could bench press , I hear that's only their first evolution and he decided to not evolve ,They once stopped a robbery of a near by store , got shot bought the beer and still made it to the party on time ...he has the most interesting eyebrows in the world , stay thick and bold my friends.
My math section is 800 I’m good at math but unfortunately I’m form Ukraine and have some problems with grammar in writing essay to be exact
That's suck i know
I am bad at Math :'(
read lots of english books
I am also from Ukraine! I lived there until I was five and then I moved to Russia, and at age 10 to United States. I am going into eight grade and I am really concerned about my future. I hope you did well on your SAT
I also from Ukraine😀. I took the SAT test today. I don’t think my results will be as good as yours.
Lol this should be called " How to waste your teenage years to take 1 test"

Taking the sat again for the third time in late august... this is what my summer will be like fml
Trudy Chen
Definitely not a good idea to take the optional essay for me.
Who's here because they have a shitty sat score?
triggered me
Thank you for the tips I have a test coming up next week
I too scored perfect, guys here’s the secret, work hard. Try to make sense of every question.
How did u exactly prepare for It?
Sitting here the night before the test. Wish me luck
how are you two so smart 😥 and are you both in college currently?
1. Read a lot, take pride in your work and education, have even smarter friends
2. Yes
Social Science Syndicate what college do u guys go to
Social Science Syndicate I’ll try to read a lot I used to a lot don’t know why I stopped. My friends are smarter than me so that’s good
Social Science Syndicate what college?
respect that you looked up KSHMR
My SAT TEST is on 4 may
Wish me luck been working since last year i didn't make a progress but i studied lol
Update: i did my SAT but i was so damn sick i couldn't do my best at the first section the reading since i was having a hard time focusing and english is not my first language so i think I'm probably gonna retake it if anyone wants to know what i got I'll tell you guys the results will come out next week
Oh, god, same. I am so screwed. Also good luck
Rawan Faraj LoL that’s on my birthday😂
Good luck, tell me how much you studied and what you got afterwards.
Rawan Faraj- How do you guys think you did? I also took mine this morning(May 4th) btw :)

I love Khan academy. Using that for my accuplacer for community college.
I have registered for SAT that is in December but I really don't know where to start my preparations... I am very much confused really need help...
Just start practicing! Buy a prep book and start doing the practice tests. The more practice you do and the earlier you start, the better off you'll be. -Abe
Okay Thanks A lot I hope this would help me...
I highly recommend college panda math , which is affordable on book depository website... goodluck
How would you study around a mistake if you miss a question in the reading section? I'm referring to 9:35. Thanks in advance!
when you said you took 2-3 SAT sections per day, did you take the sections from a practice exam? because I thought there were 7 test released(maybe there is more) eventually would there be enough "full" tests to take on the Saturdays?
+Metalich yes Metalich, from tests in the Barron's or Princeton Review book
+Metalich Yes, sections from a practice exam. When I ran out of the practice exams released by the college board, I just used the exams in other prep books
Thanks you very much!!!
-Abe
Wish I read more before, never realized how big of a factor that would be in taking the SAT.
Great tips! Which calculus do you recommend is best for SAT preparation?
Another thing that will help, is asking for extra time while signing up for the SAT, sometimes they'll give you double the time if you genuinely need it
my first language is japanese and it’s well-known as far-related language from english so i have the huge disadvantage at taking SAT. can you two tell what non-english speaking students like me should do for dealing with this kind of problem?
I love this channel so much.
-Abe
I’m just happy that you can keep taking and taking it, especially since I’m trash at math writing
Can we take the sat more than once?
Yes
Thank you guys. So so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼
When dealing with older reading passages (about government, politics, etc.)in the language section, how would you recommend to dissect them?
+Jimmy Sparkles I don't know of any specific strategies geared towards more archaic passages. My best advice would be to practice with them more. This can be through additional practice tests, or simply by reading more literature from the 18th and 19th century. I'm sure your English teacher would have a few good recommendations. -Abe
When you said Calvin and Hobbes I thought you were referring to John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes. After doing a Google search, your statement makes a lot more sense.
*Sooo why exactly should I take a college entrance exam way before I need to???*
something about extra curricular activities.
what books are they reading at 11:28?????
Welp, I’m a freshman. Glad I watched this now rather then waiting a week before SATs. Haha... some people are screwwwwweeeed. 😂👌

Bruh so cold and heartless
Ola Umeh stfu leave me alone😓😔
Not that easy tho
And don't say Indian Syllabus.
Because we have so much competition among us it's like do or die
english is a negative point for people in nepal. we do not use it irl so it sucks. but math is ok
What a great video . thanks so much 💙
I scored 1180 on a practice test this morning and my goal is to get a 1420 on April 10, I hope it’s possible 😬
Connor Seals howd it go
LORDE WITH AN E haha I got 1260. I still save $10,500 a year at my college so I’m happy
Connor Seals I’m taking it tomorrow for the first time and I’m dying inside. I’ve been taking practice tests and getting a decent score but I took one today and it’s so bad??? What even happened?😥
Connor Seals i got 1290 on the may 5th one !!
So I’m here the summer before my 11th grade year I got promoted with a 3.4 unweighted 3.5 weighted and I intend on graduating with a 4.0 and making at least a 1200 on the sat I received a 920 on the psat any tips ?
I am here the year before 11th grade too. I recommend using khan academy. I scored a 980 on my psat but then got 1200 on sat practice.
how does gpa play in college apps and stuff
The one thing I'm gonna get out of school in general is that if I like it I'm gonna know how to learn more about it. Example is learning CPR start off easy and challenge yourself until you get A1 at it
Haven’t studied yet lol and I have 4 hours before I take it today at 8am August 25 lol 😂
All I have to do now is pray 🙏
Izayoi Sakamaki how’d you do
I’ve got 1100 score 😂 without reviewing at all just watching videos and got 1100 score lol 😂
@@ieleblink_army4164 That ain't that bad though considering you didn't study prior
Huffle puff I actually surprised myself I thought I was going to fail like in 800-900+ looks like being an honor student was worth it even though I don’t take AP class. Was LIT but being on the test feels like hell and I was fucked up not studying LOL 😂

Thank you so much! Wonderful to hear our tips are useful
How did you prepare yourself and how did you study for SAT ? The reading section how did you prepare it
Got a 1220 on my first round. Just retook them and am hoping for a 1300
Got 1220 . Going to retake it again I m shooting for 1400
Solid. Thanks guys.
“Take all ap or ib classes.” Small school so don’t have any of that
This was a really good video helped alot! Thanks guys :)
-Abe
War Element He probably is, AP classes don’t start ‘til highschool. He’s in 8th, which I believe is “advanced” classes.
ya i doubt youre in ap classes considering you said more smart

Can you compare PSAT and SAT in terms of difficulty?
They’re quite similar
My SAT was probs slightly easier than the PSAT but very small difference
lmao mine is tomorrow so i searched this up just now teehee
11:25 oh gosh I have the same history book as yours. I’m a Vietnamese with a 3.9 cumulative GPA ( unweighted) and a 1200 PSAT. Just took my SAT on June 2nd and I think I did horrible on the reading section ( maybe because English is myself second language ?) Any suggestion for improvement?
