To put this into perspective, in 1974, Mike Austin at age 64 hit a drive 515 yards on the 14th hole while competing in the U.S. National Senior Golf Tournament.
What was amazing was that the drive was done on a level fairway, using a persimmon wood driver with 10 degrees of loft and a 43.5" extra-stiff steel shaft. The ball was a soft balata.
The only aid he had was a 25mph tail wind.

@@casualguy393 You really are butt hurt by people mentioning the wind.
Look at all the salty comments you've made.
It's hilarious, sad, but still hilarious.
      Need a hug?
      Why are the distance markings
making not perpendicular to the ball flight?
Are they counting the distance of a dog-leg in the drive?
How come in other comps he hasn't even come close to this distance?
How is he 150 yards further on this drive?
      Simple questions.
As far as world records, there are many sports that don't recognise records with a certain level of wind assistance.

@@dampaul13 I am butt hurt because this comment section is full of idiots who don't understand the conditions for world records? That's hilarious. The other hilarious thing is that the group of idiots include you. 1 of my friends is a World Record Adjudicator, so I'll educate you further since you seem 1 of the ones most needing it.
They don't need "distance markings" because it was measured by GPS, and no, they don't count a dog leg. Only an idiot would use that as a terribly weak argument.
Kyle has hit 480 yards in competition and +500 outside of competition. Mike Dobbin came onto the scene just after I got out of Long Drive, and he hit 551 yards on a course.
The difference is (1) wind. Sometimes you get a huge tailwind that is actually blowing right down the fairway instead of crossing it. Another is that each course waters their fairways on specific days, and if you are lucky, you catch 1 of those days that coincides with the wind.
Next, you need to time your fitness recovery so that you can maximize your head speed on that day, and then you have to be able to catch a ball perfectly to not only give you the right launch angle and spin rate, but also lands in a spot that isn't as soft as your mother's ass.
Yes, I know about records that specific wind conditions are required. Take a look at my profile pic and you will see the bike I am training on for the time when the bike I am building that will someday run on Battle Mountain in the WHPVA, not for a world record attempt but just to see how fast I can go under my own power.
Now, the sad thing is that you are almost certainly a keyboard warrior who hasn't ever pushed your body to any enviable limits, and just try to shit on everyone who has or is because you have small pipi syndrome and needs a hug.
