I thought Death Troopers were SURGICALLY augmented, not genetically altered.

there's a mention of more than just surgery in one of the books. And by genetic I don't mean cloning, not saying that's what you thought I meant but just want to be clear, more like gene therapy. Using something like viral vectors to enhance certain traits or protect against something either in the future environment they will likely encounter, or a potential issue in the trooper.
but I'm gonna pin this so people can either expand on what I'm saying and maybe remember which source had that. I think it was in the visual guide but not sure, or just provide the source that you are thinking of, that it was all just surgical not genes

I like how in the mandalorian the death troopers didn’t go down like the regular stormtroopers with one getting physical with mando.
That was BADASS! I really appreciated that they had some fight.
They didn't do enough in my opinion. They only did what the stormtroopers should've done. But that hand to hand fighting was pretty boss.

The Death Troopers are much more better than the Sith Troopers from Rise of Skywalker.
For me: Empire - Death Troopers, First Order - Sith Troopers (those are the troopers of the FO right? or emperor's army isn't FO... regardless, I like both).

To be fair, the short amount of time we do see the Sith Troopers, they are pretty bad ass. One gets shot in the shoulder and just shrugs it off like it was nothing. For me personally, and I know some people will probably hate me for this, but it put Sith Troopers, Death Troopers, and Clone Commandos all on like the same level of bad-ass-ery.
Just a little nitpicking: DLT-19 is based on MG34, not MG42.

To be fair, they are entirely different weapons. Yes, ease of mfg was the driving principle behind the 42's development and design, and they did fulfill similar battlefield roles. But they are absolutely two different kettles of fish.
Calling them the same is like saying a regular stormtrooper is identical to a death trooper or a clone commando.

Right. Not to mention the 42/MG3 has the single fastest barrel change of any light/medium MG to this day.
A more apt comparison would be say FN Minimi and a M249 SAW. That's more apples and apples...
Albeit, the circular piercing on the 34's barrel shroud does make it look a bit more bossanova.

@@yanivgalmor1747 nah. They would've been able to handle the cost if they cut costs on things like walkers and designed tanks instead. The height requirements should've been eliminated and applicants should've been able to try out from the entire Storm Trooper Corps. Just make the Assessment and Selection phase extremely tough. Advanced skills training would come next and only then would augmentations take place.

I love how the E11D has a stock attached to it while still keeping the under folding stock.
The E11 was based off the british sterling submachine gun in the OG trilogy and has since carried on. The little under-folding stock still being on this new iteration is proof that hollywood knows nothing of firearms.

The Bad Batch was the pre-cursor, the forerunners, the original if you will, Death Troopers when the Republic turned into the Empire.

The term elite gets thrown around too much in the empire. Stormtroopers: elite
Scar Squadron: elite
Death Troopers: elite
But they barely hold a candle to what the clones were capable of. I think I’d rather take an army of mandalorians on my side or even commando droids.
Cyber Flame stormtroopers are extrmely skilled soldies. I would be happy witj an army of them.
I think it might be easier to just compare them to others when speaking of elite status.
Stormtroopers are elite when compared to Army troopers.
Death Troopers are more elite than Stormtroopers.
S.C.A.R squad was essentially a commando unit so they probably are meant to be above the other troopers.
All Clone troopers were elite soldiers, but not all Stormtroopers. Some Stormtroopers just walked around like neighborhood foot patrol cops. Maybe some Stormtroopers rode bicycles.

@MetaNerdz Lore I have a question reguarding some similarities of the death trooper and shadow trooper in the Disney canon. Do you think that they function too similarly given they have black armor and have a sensor dampener coating on their armor? The reason of why I asked this question is because of a few weeks ago their was a heated discussion about the possibilities of the shadow trooper returning to battlefront 2 as a reinforcement or a skin. Some people said that the shadow trooper and the death trooper are too similar and couldn't distinguish between them. Personally, I find it ridiculous that people couldn't distinguish a black armored 7 feet tall super soldier with some green details to a black colored storm trooper. And I find it lazy that DICE couldn't reintroduced the shadow trooper, because the shadow trooper isn't well explored in the Disney canon and there is definitely room to come up with a reasonable explanation of the difference between the shadow trooper and the death trooper. I have already came up with an explanation in my own head canon. To sum it up the death trooper is certainly more well equipped and better trained than the shadow trooper, therefore more elite. However there there isn't enough death troopers to patrol the entire Galaxy, death troopers can't quell every single insurrection there is, especially minor ones. Because of their scarcity, death troopers are reserved for high priority targets such as terrorist (rebel) leaders, criminal leaders, and Jedi. It isn't ethical to assign death troopers to ambush a rebel raider party on a "back water" world, that would make the death trooper over qualified for the job. Their talents could be used in a more useful and dire situation. Thus, the shadow was implemented to combat this issue. The shadow trooper is equipped enough to deal with insurrections, situations that are not as important as the assignments of the death trooper. The shadow troopers are numerous in the empire than the death trooper but still not as much as a stormtrooper. While being more trained and equipped that standard stormtroopers who couldn't handle these situations. Plus their cloaking device makes them a very flexible unit, conducting counter terrorism operations, scouting enemy activity, spying, guerrilla warfare. Shadow troopers are also include supporting a nearby imperial ground force in a full out assault. That would be a menial task in the eyes of imperial intelligence.

The way you see death troopers get shot and then get back up again is really how lore accurate stormtrooper and both phases of the clone wars armour would've been like. Ironic how they moved on from droids to surgical argumentation and back to droids again

Neuro-Saav is actually the name of the company that produced the macromotion monitor. They were known for producing various sighting technologies (i.e. macrobinoculars and weapon scopes) as well as cybernetic enhancement technologies. So although Neuro-Saav refers to the company itself, it's indeed possible for there to be a cybernetic connection between the Death Troopers and their various sensors/other technological equipment.
How can they be above average in height and size if the only crop the Empire has to pick from were already comprised within rigid requirements of not deviating beyond mere centimeters from eachother?

Yes, Storm Troopers were elite, and even Kenobi said only Storm Troopers are so precise. Unfortunately no one can beat plot armor and since they shoot mostly at heroes, they have to miss, and end up a meme. However even a 40K space marine would miss every shot shooting at a hero with plot armor.

The Dlt is based on the mg 34. Mg 42 has a rectangular barrel shroud while a mg 34 has a round one

Watching one slam Mando to the ground proves how strong these guys are; in that same clip, you can them them talking multiple blaster bolts, only going down after a direct shot to the head.
The process of becoming a death trooper must be painful and stressful but that shows how bad ass they are.

Their poor performance against Mandalorians like Sabine or Din Djarin seems to show the Mandalorians equipment and training overcomes the enhancements, training and equipment of the Deathtroopers. However, my guess would be that the quality of Mandalorians varies greatly. That said, a top quality Mando will win almost any day.
I wouldn't count sabine since that's rebels and in that they make the death troopers incompetent compared to what they acc meant to be

Death Troopers are my favorite trooper variant.

I think there is some confusion on here people saying surgical and genetic alterations are different...... actually they can be the same.
Modifying your genome, will and can alter your appearance, and or begin internal changes, like for example including the genetic instructions to grow a third lung for improved stamina and range you Could describe that as surgical as well.
