Here's a simple one for you to consider, how far do you agree or disagree with my own personal opinion: 'Live Services' are scams, always, without exception.
4:44 The most infamous one is Albedo's Cinnabar Spindle. Since then, Albedo's bis weapon is forever gone. And that has caused an incredible fear on missing event weapons and their refinements.
CINNABAR SPINDLE IS AN EVENT WEAPON??? god i hate all limited time weapons because i cant get any of the ones before mailed flower and i keep seeing festering desire or toukabou shigure in builds
The trick is to be desperate for your characters to come back that you save up and skip everything.... which is exactly what the gacha gods want. Skip more, which means you see more that you may want in the futute.... and the cycle repeats.
as a klee main, i have been forever grateful in her steady and reliable habit of having one rerun every year for the summer. its something ive learned not to take for granted, bc im slowly trying to build her up to c6, and knowing i can pull every year and get her constellations is huge
Klee is blessed that she's Alice's child, always gets some fun every summer event. and even if not Alice will always come back for Monds events on some mysterious ways
I'll be honest, Klee is what got me into Genshin (cause she so cute) after seeing a friend play. I started basically right after her banner ended, was disappointed but we knew some leaks about the next handful of 5*s and we figured there was a pattern to it, so, and this was the literal verbatim thought that went through my head "okay, so I won't have to wait for a year or something." ...Umm...
I think Eula has been on the back burner just due to the spot physical dmg is current in, in a game based around elements and their reactions, a physical dps carry isn't going to perform well. A Lot of the enemies in this game have high phys res, and the damage dealt can be inconsistent and fluctuates a lot depending on player skill, luck, enemy types, and content. She requires high investment, and a low investment hyperbloom team can clear the hardest content in the game just as easily as she can
Hyperbloom is one of Eula's best teams. Fridge variant, of course. It fills in several of her weaknesses, while providing superconduct. So, yes, a low investment hyperbloom team can clear the hardest content as easily as she can, because she can be part of that team. If not for that, said hyperbloom team most likely clears it easier than she does.
I think they brought over Honkai's systems, but realized they gimped physical. In HI3, only physical units can crit and elements can't. Making element crit, physical is nothing special. Now, physical and geo (yellow physical) are basically inert.
Eula/physical and Geo both are in a dire need of rework to the point they might actually rework them to the point of supporting eachother... but that's just my wishful thinking
This video should be mandatory learning material for every single new Genshin player, so they know what are they up to and can get ready for it. Seriously, you nailed everything. I'm kinda similar case to you, buying Welkin and BP (never bought crystals though) and even playing on mobile during vacations - though I definitely don't feel guilty about that. I like the game and I think the entertainment it's giving me is well worth the money I spend on it. Yes, accepting the fact that you won't get everything that's in the game is the most fundamental thing you need to do as a player unless you're willing to spend egregious amounts of money. The amount of primogems we're getting for free every month is worth about $100 in top-ups, and that means spending $100 on top-ups every month will get you only about twice of what you already get for free. That's a lot of money for playing a game in my opinion. Spending $100 per month is still not enough to get you every character and weapon in the game, even only at C1R1. You wouldn't spend that much money on other entertainment media, you don't want to spend that much money on a single game either. Given how popular Genshin is and how other game companies are drawing inspiration from its success, I think the format is here to stay. And we need to get used to it. And that involves knowing what are we up to and learning strategies that will let us have the most fun without unnecessary regrets on spending more than we wanted to.
@@erwidobi7812 I don't think there's anything wrong on paying for entertainment, or in general paying other people for doing something you enjoy. It's all about keeping the price reasonable.
resigning yourself to not fun mechanics just tells developers to make not fun games.. considering im from a time where developers were desperate to get players to engage by making the game fun (sega/nintendo) I have a hard time understand this. Why should a game be a job (and then demand your money)? Games that couldn't be fun were normally dropped, not played for compulsion sake. "..we need to get used to it" or you could just not play gatcha like a addict looking for the next fix...
I know that the odds say you're more likely to get a 4 star that you want in a set amount of pulls but the massive difference between 4 stars and 5 stars is that you can NEVER guarantee that you will get any one 4 star character by pulling so even if you get one copy in a different way you might never get their constellations. I honestly think that making a 4 star unviable or incomplete without constellations like faruzan or gorou is one of the more greedy/scummy things hoyo can do, especially considering those 2 are already dedicated support units. A lot of people who have C6 faruzan probably have a wanderer constellation like me
@@isoundout sure, but isn't that relevant to not have one char fpr a while when the game have 60+ characters. I missed heizou 3 times because I have the 5 star on his banner. But I do t really care that much. Same with Kuki, that I loved the char when they announced. I pulled 90 times for her, got Itto in the process, but she never came. No problem, I got her on Cynos banner, and now I have her c4, soon to be c6.
@@pontoancora How much do you have to play to get a C6 Faruzan since her last banner? Do you know hoy much primos do you need to guarantee her? How much time did u have to wait in order to get Heizou? You missed him 3 times... Was it just at C0? At least he funtions fine at C0, right? Aniway if their point of this being some greedy tactics from hoyo in order to push people to spend is "not relevant" then... What are you defending here? That people need to waste more of their lives in this game in order to just have a chance to maybe play what the want? Thats what te company wants, your money or your time, and a lot of it
@@isoundout "How much do you have to play to get a C6 Faruzan since her last banner?" idk, maybe 2 out of each banner, 3 banners in a year. But that can drastically change. "Do you know hoy much primos do you need to guarantee her?" Theres no garanteed, but as a 4 star, they came eventually. Just play the game and you will have EVERY SINGLE 4 star chars with c6. As i said before. Just a matter of time. "greedy tactics from hoyo in order to push people to spend is "not relevant" then..." Giving 85% of the characters for free? I dont call that greedy at all. I would be very satisfied with 50% or even 25%. The game have now 60+ characters, so we have way more than we need. Even new players get enough in a single year. "That people need to waste more of their lives in this game in order to just have a chance to maybe play what the want?" Its a game made to be played for years, so i dont think this is a good argument. I dont waste my time, i play the game because its fun. If i play 1 year, good, if i play 2 years, great, if i play 10 years, even better. As long its fun i play, so i cant understand the "waste" part of you comment. Im ALWAYS playing what i want.
Mihoyo's greed is actually double-edged, since it becomes very easy to get off the hook if you manage to break a cycle. I got burnt out of Genshin after the 1st Eula banner and decided to take a break. After 2 weeks offline I came back and tried to calculate my losses. "60 gems per 14 days gonna get me... 5.25 debate clubs, lol". After one question came others: "Will I care about a story that gonna be stretched out for 10+ years?" "Why do I play the game where getting a new char feels like a punishment and not a reward?" "What's the point of grinding into endgame, if the content here is just a dps check?" After some time I had no remorse of leaving Genshin for good.
I am saving for eula and genshin it's my de-stresser from work. I play more casually star risk but definitely I'm making wiser choices for SR than when i did genshin . When a game stops being fun then there is no point of playing . Yet just try to make sure you pull for characters YOU want and not because it's hyped
This is exactly the point I am in right now. I actually tried getting back into it saying "if i get kazuha, I'll play more often again" and while yes, I did get him, the amount of effort needed to make him (or any new character in general) useable in the current late-game is just annoying that I just burnt out all over again lmao
Her banner sales will be really interresting, I personally dont think she will do well as at this point we have seen that meta relevancy does significantly impact banner sales. But maybe there really. Are enough people that really want her and have been eaiting, we'll see
My expectation is that her banner will be one of Genshin's worst ones ever. Her damage is end-loaded, which is less ideal. But more importantly, physical damage has a lot of issues, issues that Hoyoverse has not addressed. And this makes Eula a weak character. And there's Klee, who right from her launch was described as clunky, while her burst going away if she goes off-field limits her usefulness greatly. And we'll be getting close to Fontaine, potentially seeing some spoilers for that, and that'll pull people's interest to the future, rather than the past. I love Eula. I've got two Eula shirts even. I find her fun to play. Love her personality. And I did what it took to make her work in most of my 36 star Abyss clears. Except the most recent ones, because it has finally gotten to the point where the issues a physical character has is just too much. It pains me to say it, she is not a good character to invest in from a power perspective. My on-field Dehya team (Dehya, Nahida, Kuki, and Fischl/Sucrose/whatever off-field element I need) clears the Abyss much easier. Maybe the circumstances will not make my prediction accurate. It has been a long time since her last re-run. You can pretty much guarantee Mika will get his first re-run on her banner. He's not the support she wants or needs, but plenty of people who don't have Eula currently likely won't realize that. And she'll likely be featured prominently in the summer zone event, so her personality will be at the forefront. Vengeance!
@@rubenlara4029 ok fine with sales numbers I guess I meant total wish numbers, which is data hoyo obviously has access to, while we only hace sales data
@@Axterix13 I agree that elemental reactions have the advantage, but Eula is by no means a weak character lol She was my main since her first banner all the way until Alhaitham's banner. If people used their brains and built her correctly, they would see huge numbers. My Eula does 20-25k each normal attack with a 4 star weapon, and don't get me started with her nuke ult. I clear content very easily with her and would still main her if Alhaitham wasn't my favorite character.
Wonderful as always. Enjoy the long rambling and like how someone that doesn't even play genshin can watch the videos the same as a hardcore genshin player.
My response to FOMO is to be ultra patient, be willing to skip most banners, roll primarily on reruns(typically after a character has been fairly fleshed out by the meta), don't go out of my way for 4 stars, and basically play the long game. Somewhat early in my Genshin days, I came dreadfully close to losing Venti on one of the banners, and was kind of upset after losing 50/50. I got very lucky and won him after another 20 pulls, but after the fog cleared, I told myself I'd never let the game manipulate me like that again. It's how they get people to buy crystals, which are exorbitantly expensive. I'm currently sitting on about 60k primos, primarily from completing all of Sumeru's content. I'm waiting for characters to appear I'm absolutely sure I want, whether for meta or character reasons, or perhaps some mix of both.
My answer is simple: Learn to be satisfied with what you got. The pace of the game is very stable, so is so easy to plan ahead, that if I want a char, I get this char.
I agree with that mindset! It's way less stressful too because you don't constantly run out of materials when building so many characters. I want to build all characters eventually but don't think I will be able to with how many they release that I will want!
Why isn't every reasonable person's response to FOMO just not to tolerate it? Seriously, why even play a game that you know is trying to manipulate you and only respects you for how much money you can generate for it? Why not put your momentary enjoyment aside for a better product and greater enjoyment in the future? No one who hates greed and manipulation should be playing Genshin Impact or any gacha games.
@@Swagbastian why? The game is awesome, and so are other gacha games. I don't understand why so much problem with them. Is easy to just control your own wallet.
Good points. Eula is the new Kazuha. His first rerun happened after more than a year. I’d argue that standard banner character are almost worse because you can never ensure them. Like four stars, there’s no real pity to hit. Just a chance. Even less as they keep adding characters. Plus you can end up with a weapon. For over two years I’ve suffered an endless tirade of Keqings and Qiqis, whom I never use, but not a single Diluc con. So I wanted to make sure I get Tighnari and wished on his only limited banner. (No regrets, even if happily he’s now already C2.) I’ve never cared much for Eula and her banners continue to be skips for me but I hope all of you who wait for her finally get her :)
Similar, yet opposite. Playing since 1.1 and have Keqing at C3 (the C1 being a spent limited 5* guarantee on her own banner lol), but I have C6+ Diluc I never use 😅 I know her cons aren't really much to write home about, but I would really like to have some kind of a guarantee to C6 my favorite character in the entire game. At this point, I'll sooner have R5 Mist than C6 Keqing if things stay the same (R2 Mist currently and it's not even like I pulled that much on the weapon banner, just got pretty lucky both times).
@@luisestevan3272 You mean Kaeya, Lisa and Amber plus other older 4stars. Yeah, thankfully the starglitter shop is there :) My wording might have been weird, I tried to say that like limited banner four stars, with the standard banner five stars you never have a guaranteed. There’s a pool of characters and weapons and it’s RNG which one you get every time.
I’m a F2P and honestly Diluc was my 1st 5* . The only 5* that made me play genshin was Xiao, thank God I was so lucky man . I took a 4 months break , after logging in the featured banner was Xiao with 3 days left and only had 10 wishes with no pity. Guess what ? I got him in those 10 pulls. Since then I’ve been playing like crazy . I ended up spending on the battle pass twice. Genshin is a game where you play diligently after obtaining your fav character or stop playing after getting heartbroken. Now I’ve 7 * stars which are really good😮💨.
Been waiting since november for Eula. That taught me to prepare a buffer (at least half a patch) before even attempting to pull on a limited banner. And I always wait for the livestream news before pulling on the second half of a banner. Now five 5*s later, I'm guaranteed for eula with more or less 80 pulls before her (supposed) banner ends.
I just came across this and found that you articulated the formula really well. I think gatcha players really need to understand the psychology behind their choices and what a company uses to drive their desires. I've been burnt by overspending in the past and wish i were wiser back then. Your stories are funny and resonate well, I'm quite sure that I would have done and thought the same few things. They are pretty insidious with FOMO, people really need to understand their tools and the behind it psychology to avoid it.
before Eula, HuTao suffered with a similar sittuation, she went for almost 400 days without showing in any banner. I skip her, but saw a friend wait all this time to get her and Homa. Ganyu too, from her first banner to her first rerun, took almost one year, I lost her in the first banner and waited for the rerun, while waiting got four different 5* characters. Eula keeps adding days to the next rerun, but the long waits always happened for some characters.
i know i got rec'd this video bc i'm waiting for eula, but i'm not sure why i'm watching the whole thing bc i'm a fully soul dead genshin player.. pain. but you're nice to listen to!
All my Genshin Efforts went into f2p Eula. I’m so happy with this game just because of her. All other characters are great but Eula is different, complex and rewarding. She’s a very misunderstood character but I love it that way for some reason.
I think the best way to not fall into a vicious fomo cycle is to REALLY think about which characters you actually want. If there's one whose story, character and playstyle you enjoy, try to get them! Nothing wrong with that. But if you just want a character cuz the meta says they're good, but you're not all that passionate about them, then it's better to wait imo. And generally, it's better not to pay for them, the regret could be immense if you get burnt out. Though I have to say, that all of this is easier said than done, I'm lucky cuz the meta doesn't mean anything to me, I go for characters whose designs are good and personality I like. It's best to play for fun and keep it as casual as you can, I've been playing for 2-3 years, I'm at that point where all characters I really wanted have been released and with Baizhu as my last wished character, I managed to get all of them, so no gacha pressure for me until Fontaine comes out.
Same, sometimes I go back to play my Eula team whenever I feel like going ham with physical instead of using the elements. For some reason it feels a lot better hitting ridiculously hard with physical damage, even though it unfortunately isn't as good.
Another stellar video! Eula is my favorite character in the game, and also my main. I hope when she rolls back around she comes home quickly for you! I'm hoping to snag her weapon next time around lol. Didn't realize you had a Twitch, the entire time watching this I was thinking to myself that I would totally love to watch you stream (any game really, your voice is soothing and your thoughts resonate a lot with me). Definitely gonna be on the lookout for future streams when they happen! Best Wishes! 💙
Just getting back into genshin after about 5 months away. Very rough. I missed all of the sumeru characters and power creep is very strong in this game in my opinion. After being away for so long I'm debating not even coming back at all. I started playing a week after release and played all the way up until the last act of inazuma so I did fall in love with the game. It's sad that FOMO destroys my willpower to come back.
Any game that has to manipulate you into continuing to play is bad. The creators of Genshin Impact don't respect you. I'd say if you really want to experience the game then just come back after the Teyvat Chapter is finished (if they ever finish it)(because it makes too much money for them to end it there).
Came here as one of the eternal Eula Rerun waiters (since her first run, due to her first rerun being completely unexpected...ouch. and yes, she is my favourite character in the game), left having found another Love Liver who takes neso pics while on vacation. Kudos to you, and great video!
You mentioned Kaveh and his personality briefly in the video and it reminded me of my own gacha struggles lol. I love Kaveh and he is my favorite character, however, I am F2P and have terrible luck. I saved up 20 pulls for Kaveh before the banner, assuming that I would get him quickly but I was wrong. I had to play for hours and hours to get enough wishes for Kaveh (which ended up being around 50 more pulls). Although I never spent money, the amount of time I spent in Genshin is still good for Hoyoverse. I'm also pulling for Alhaitham now because I want to get Kaveh's roommate because of my Kaveh loyalty haha. Hoyoverse really does have an excellent way of getting players hooked on the gacha (even if it's not great for us). This video was great and I just subbed btw :)
I relate to him way too much, like I would probably succeed more in life by being more ruthless, but i'm just normally not that guy. I know the whole "nice guy" thing is a meme at least when it comes to dating, but there are people who want to generally be more of a savage or heartless, but when an opportunity presents itself: they help people instead (potentially to their detriment). It's even worse since a lot of the richest / most successful people are very much NOT like that, and in fact, are opportunists who might betray anyone to get ahead and get rewarded for it.
@@hidarling641 I also relate to Kaveh perhaps a bit too much! He's my favorite because I see so much of myself in him haha. Kaveh is such a well written and relatable character
20:38 i feel that exactly. sometimes i panic and spend an insane amount of money over a short period of time and after that, i feel empty. it was the same for hu tao's first banner where i needed a good pyro applier, then again on yelan's first banner, on albedo's rerun... i stopped now and haven't payed anything in a good while, i even stopped playing already, but this feeling after a "spending spree" that maybe it wasn't worth it. yea, i know that all too well. i am finanically well off, so this was alright for me, but you can easily slip into harmfull behaviour
I liked this video a lot! I’ve been a genshin player ever since release, f2p for around 800 days, and now I’ve spent around 200 days paying for the welking only. As you mentioned, money and time are extremely valuable in this game. A player starting out now will be overwhelmed with content for months, and even spending thousands, will not even be close to a day 1 f2p player. Your explanations are very clear and on point, your analysis is top notch, and your voice is very soothing. Wonderful video :)
my fave thing about genshin is the story, the enviroment and the grinde of building characters so really unlike a lot of people I see online I don't mind the lack of endgame or the gacha. I play the way I play, listen to a podcast and do my dailies, and then either go through the story or logout
mhy actually makes some crazy gacha games. like, seriously, they're the only gachas i've consistently spent money on. although that might not be saying much, since outside of hoyo gachas i only still play around 4 (bandori[casually now, but was my obsession of 2+ years until around 3 years back] And for playing daily i have blue archive[favourite], alchemy stars and nu carnival) and out of those 4 i've only spent money on two (bandori twice for the stars box, alchemy stars once for a hiiro skin) but with mhy? tears of themis, genshin, and now even hsr. i have the monthly for all 3, and it's all just to save for upcoming characters/cards in case they release another one i really like. that is to say: mhy is really good at getting people to spend money. whether or not it's just the monthly pass also: don't try pulling every character. for your own sanity's sake. i'm sure almost everyone knows this by now though. save your primos! never think "oh my pity is low, so this won't affect anything" ESPECIALLY if it's a banner of a 5* you dislike! the number of times i've seen people complain about getting a limited 5* they dislike as if they didn't decide to pull on that banner drives me nuts! don't do random pulls outta nowhere then fucking complain about it!
I started playing about a month before Eula's second rerun & she was my first 5 star limited banner character. Since I was low level & resources, I couldn't level her up to be all that impressive. But there was a trial version of her in the dungeon exploration limited event that was fully built & she was godlike. None of the characters I had could knock off 90% of a boss' life bar. My luck with artifacts isn't good enough to make my Eula as powerful as that trial version, but I'm still grinding away to try to replicate that godlike moment.
The way I see it, delaying Eula's banner as much as possible is a way for Hoyoverse to make players, even those who didn't intend on pulling her originally, pull her after all because what if her banner never comes back? Physical is an undesirable element in the current meta, so if you don't like her design, there isn't that much of a reason to pull her... unless you fear that she won't be back for another year+, right? Even people who have her already might feel inclined to pull her weapon now...
I remember seeing ayaka leaks back in 1.2 and started saving like crazy. . Then Eula came, I'm weak to sneezes and suddenly without me noticing all my 180 fates were gone. . I failed my japanese cryo queen miserably. . Diluc, Xinyan and Razor got benched forever and Eula did carry me through lots of content and I still use her in my teams (it's 3.7 rn) . Heck, I just started efficiently using reactions when I got Nahida, and before that I was a fully playing with my physical archon with 1 or 2 support attackers. . I'm really glad I rolled for waifu reasons.
I started playing shortly after Eulas last banner, I'm now Ar 59, 2/3 of the way to 60... I think that really puts into perspective how long its been, its actually kinda absurd. I never even got a chance to wish for her, lots of my early day friends have already quit the game by now without ever having a Eula banner available during their whole genshin journey even though they played for a long time
This is how I deal with "Fomo". New character comes out i don't summon... Why? Cause they'll get a rerun eventually and with the time between reruns I'll have saved up primogems to get the character. I've done that with every character so far and it works for me. I have all the characters except Al haitham and Wanderer but since Al is back I have enough primogems to get him and wanderer whenever they do comeback. The thing thats been eating away at my money however are those damn weapons lol. My general rule of the weapon banner is that in order for me to summon on it both 5 star weapons have to be something I wouldn't mind getting personally. I make a note of how many primos I have for characters and I separate between weapon banner and character banner. Most my money nowadays is for weapons.
While I don't play Genshin (my laptop isn't strong enough), I can already feel this with Star rail. From starting too late for Seele to pair her up with Bronya, to how getting multiple of characters is required to unlock parts of their kits, to how "weapons" best for them are in a separate gacha and how they never add to the standard pool more 5*. I sure am spoiled by my previous game, Arknights, respected the player more, from a pity of 40 pulls making getting characters usually pretty easy, to getting multiple of the same characters aren't required since the talent boosts are like a 5% increase to a existing talent (only exception is Bagpipe). Even every character other than limited (which all pop up in their perspective celebration time) is fair to get and there's even a guaranteed ticket for standard characters every half year for whales. Time to wait for Seele to come back.
I loved the video; it did a very good job of showing the predatory nature of the game's wishing system. The only thing I'd like to add onto it is how you can escape the grasp of it. The thing is that Genshin's producers seemed to really aim at the things the majority of people struggle with, not just in game, but in real life: The ability (or rather, inability) to prioritize, focus on priorities, committing to goals, self-restraint, planning ahead and managing resources. We cannot expect the game to change. Small improvements can be made (such as the more F2P friendly changes in Star Rail, though I think it's necessary in that game based on the closed nature of the combat compared to Genshin), but free to play games will NEVER be truly F2P friendly. At the end of the day business is business, and they'll want to profit on what they put out there, so they'll try to get you to spend money with all their might. That means the only way is to find the solution in yourself. Because it doesn't matter how predatory a system is, if they cannot prey upon you, then they won't get you to do what they want (and what you don't want). This is where the earlier qualities come in: Ability to prioritize, focus on priorities, committing to goals, resisting temptations, planning ahead and managing resources. If you struggle because of the wishing, there's a chance you're not very good at at least one of these qualities, possibly more. If you can improve upon that, then you'll likely have a better time in the future. It isn't just video-game related either. In my experience, the people who have trouble managing resources (money, time) in a game have trouble with it in real-life too, and the same goes for the others as well. So if you manage to develop those qualities, they'll pay out in real life too, especially long-term. Practicing them in-game is actually a good way to prepare yourself for situations later on in life. Bad outcomes might be disappointing, but not getting a character is still a thousand times better than worrying about whether you'll be able to afford eating properly until your next paycheck, or having to fear eviction because you couldn't manage your money. Bad habits usually don't go away just because you become and adult or get a promotion; the financial freedom might just make them worse. Whatever quality you struggle with, whether that's practicing self-restraint or planning ahead, expect them to be a similarly big problem later on in life (unless you do something to make it better). In essence: If you're struggling with the wishing, take that as a sign that there's still room for improvement. That's a perfectly normal thing, nobody is perfect, but that doesn't mean you can't try to improve yourself - especially if you're REALLY struggling and it's affecting you badly. Try to use this opportunity to grow as a person, and measure your progress in the game, where it's still safe to make mistakes. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
To me a game that allow players to get in average 85% of the characters for free, most of them being very usable in the whole game, not that sea of 3 star level bs, almost no powercreep, making pull for new characters a choice, not a must, can cleary be called f2p friendly. Their only problem is if you start late and want every single thing in the game.
Thats why when I started playing Genshin cause of Ganyu and I learned that she gonna be avalaible in next month I literally set a plan of what I gonna do. Not only I progressed so much trough game (trough month I finished Inazuma) but, also I was AR 40 meaning that Ganyu could be leveled to level 80. So basically trough month I manged my time and things I wanna focus one meaning that I ended up with 14400 primo gems (90 wishes) + 20 wishes from ingame content and also materials that were needed to progres Ganyu to Level 90! Also As a backup I check how much money I can spend if something wont go right. But at the end of the day I pulled her in just 30 wishes. the only complain I have to my self is how I decided to pull her bow that end up Eating 210-220 wishes which needed me to pay (cause I went with he flow and falese illusion of luck after pulling Ganyu just in 30 wishes, but I learn my lesson). Yet I don't regret it since I was prepared for this and now I'm doing everything to know way faster which chr., that I am interested in, gonna appear so I can prepare for them
Yes, we can expect the game to change and yes, we can expect F2P games to be truly F2P friendly. There are plenty that already are. Yours and others' tolerance of predatory business practices encourages the continuation and adoption of those same practices. Giving any predatory product a positive metric helps the company market it to other consumers, creating the potential for more people to fall victim.
I joined Genshin during Eula’s rerun banner and I’m almost AR 58 😭 granted, I haven’t played consistently since honkai star rail and tears of the kingdom came out, but I still do commissions once a week and try to complete events when I can. It’s actually insane to me how long it’s been since she reran though
Your experience with Eula has actually reminded me of a similar experience I've had with Alhaitham. I've been playing since version 1.1, so I've definitely learned to manage my resources by the time Sumeru came around. The "hype train" has stung me before; I pulled Itto on the first day his banner dropped because I liked his character, but I've never really used him since. He's still not even fully ascended! Now I try to manage who I pull for way more strictly. For the most part, this means that I'm far happier with the 5-stars that I DO choose to pull for, but thinking in the long-term has it's drawbacks. As mentioned before: Alhaitham. Initially, I really couldn't care less about his character. Out of the whole of the Sumeru cast, I cared about him maybe second-to-least. I've never been a fan of tsundere/kuudere types, and he was kind of an ass, so I just didn't click with him. At best he was eyecandy. When his banner first dropped, it was an easy skip. Between going for Cyno, Nahida, and Wander, and every 4-star, I had enough of my plate. I was perfectly content with this decision at first... until we got to know Kaveh better. When Kaveh showed up in Alhaitham's promo and Story Quest, I was just more hyped to get HIM on my account, not Alhaitham. But once I actually got to read his lore... it ended up totally recontextualizing Alhaitham as a character for me. Kaveh and Alhaitham are both perfectly fleshed out and well written characters in their own rights, but it's almost like they're incomplete without one another. They're perfect mirrors who bring out the best and (more often) worst in each other. Whenever we see them interact, both of them take on a completely new persona that's absent if they're on their own. Seeing Alhaitham through the lense of his relationship with Kaveh totally charmed me. Regardless of how you interpret their relationship, it's undeniable that these two are, like, ACTUAL soulmates. It's no wonder that a picture of one isn't complete without the other. Couple that with rising knowledge of Alhaitham's insane DPS, and the fact that I've managed to collect every character that shows up in his Demo EXCEPT for him... yeah, it really hurts. What stings even more now is that, at the time of writing this, HE IS AVAILABLE TO GET 😭BUT I HAVE TO SKIP HIM. Pulling for Kaveh (and subsequently Yae Miko cons) has sapped me of all my funds, and with Version 4.0 around the corner, I have to focus on saving my guarantee for someone I know that I'll actually use. Preferably the next Archon and Harbinger to round out my collection. Alhaitham has to be set to the wayside for now. Sadly, Alhaitham isn't the only victim of this. Xiao, Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Klee... all of them are characters that I've been wanting for YEARS now, but their banners just NEVER drop at a convenient time for me. I'm almost entirely F2P. They're high-priority characters... but because of how pricey Genshin's wish system is, I can never justify the cost of wishing for them, especially because I know that I don't really vibe with most of their play styles. I have to skip every time 😭. I think EVERY Genshin fan has a story or two like this. And that's not even touching stories of people who DO go for characters they want, but keep missing them. I've lost the 50/50 on BOTH of Yelan's banners so far (I refuse to build Xingqiu out of pure spite at this point). Sometimes it really do be like that. While the pity system is nice, this is still one of the harsher summoning systems I've witnessed during all my years as a gacha player. Sometimes it feels more like a resource management game than a gacha to me, if I'm being honest. You just have to learn your own luck and plan around a coin toss, then grind as much as possible to maximize your profits. Slightly distopian, but ultimatetly doable if you're dedicated (read: insane) enough. Ahhh.... the things I do for these silly little anime pixels. I do wish that Hoyoverse would change up their summoning format, especially with all the problems that are evidently arising... but we all know that that'll never happen 🤷♀
Being able to put the game down when you want is a strength in itself. Sometimes you need to remind yourself that GI is just a game, one that you should be having fun in, and not stressing out over
@@Swagbastian you could say that to any online game that has any ranking in it, and the game still have a huge playerbase. But i would say it deppens on what kind of gameplay you´re looking for
As I played Genshin from the start i now gladly can say I don’t have that attachment to getting everyone i just for for the characters i want when i want then i look for leaks then what i saved use it to get em even if there’s next archon or whatever I don’t care heck i go for 4 stars if i want them . My only focus now is to get hydro archon then I’ll just keep saving for whatever characters that is fun different gameplay or even take rest tbh
this is a really well made video! i was shocked when i realized you don't have more subs. this video just popped up in my recommended feed! i agree with a lot of your points, especially when you mentioned how we're drip fed information- i think thats one of my biggest gripes with genshins gacha system. the rates are terrible too, but at least the 50/50 and guarantee system alleviates that a bit. however, the lack of any sort of "banner roadmap" makes saving as f2p incredibly hard. genshin is all about resource management, and that extends to your primos too. so only knowing the banners a few weeks in advance makes things very difficult. i don't WANT to have to rely on sus leaks of banners, but mihoyo kind of forces me to. if i didn't, i probably would've dumped all my primos on nahida and missed kazuha's upcoming banner
I liked Baizhu a lot since I first saw him. With the release of sumeru & the dendro element I was hoping he would get a banner soon, so I saved. And saved more.. and even more... In the end I skipped nearly every sumeru banner. It brought me a C2 Baizhu + signature weapon with no real world money spent, but it means I missed out on lots of characters that were really important for the new game play mechanics. I struggle finding teams for spiral abyss & new challenges since I don't really have many five stars due to my "save for those you really want" approach. No matter what you do, you just can't win.
the other day I arrived home from work at 00:30, and procedet to play genshin 'till 3 in the morning because due to starrail I haven't been playing and I did the whole TGC event in a day
I started playing during Eula’s last banner and only realized after she was gone what wishing was and that I wanted her. I thought it would be a couple months and she would be back last summer, boy was I wrong. After I got Kokomi I started saving for Eula in 3.0 with no primos. I somehow got cyno at 5 pity trying to get a Candace and then got nahida in 1 ten pull. I pulled for Alhaitham and Yelan because I had over 250+ wishes and luckily won both 50/50s (I lost my first 4 50/50s and then won these 4 so don’t think I’m too lucky lol) but that luck meant I could still wish for yoimiya and still have 300 wishes for Eula and I’m hoping she doesn’t try to dodge me. As long as I win either Eula or zhongli 50/50 I might be okay for focalors
i think Eula's situation is a mix of fomo, as well as hyv completely scamming physical damage as a whole. she may hold the record for the hardest single damage number, as well as has the highest bonuses, but that's because she has to in order to compete with the reaction based damage. and even then she requires more investment than anyone else to make it worth while. Physical doesn't have anything to support it besides one reaction and one support, it's only slightly worse than geo as an element. as a Razor main, and someone who eventually wants to get Eula, if only cause i like her character, it's painful to see. they're putting her off so much cause they know that she's barely anything compared to the characters that have come out recently, like Nahida or Al Haitham. they need that fomo factor for people to even consider pulling her over anyone else.
tbh the geo doomposting is baseless, a well invested mono-geo team is usually a very competent abyss option. recently its arguably better/more versatile than freeze cus of so many unfreezable enemies in abyss
@@karakuryn the issue is that's when it's the most viable. With exception of Zhongli, maybe Yun Jin and Albedo in special situatuons, there's not a spot for geo in anything other than mono-geo. Even as a proud Albedo main, I can't say I can put him in any team in spiral abyss outside of my Xiao team without making huge sacrifices in every way possible. The power in geo is strictly to geo, which is getting harder and harder to compete with the reaction heavy requirements with recent abyss cycles. I love geo as an element, and I don't think of crystallize as a horrible reaction as everyone makes it out to be, especially as someone who never runs shielders. It's just not as reasonable to go with mono-geo as it is vaporize, freeze, or literally any Dendro based comp unless you like and want to invest a lot of time and energy into ALL the characters required for the team comp. I know I don't care enough for Itto or Zhongli to even pull for them, let alone grind artifacts for them, meanwhile Gorou constellations avoid me like the plague. It's not doom posting, it's being realistic with the current game state. It's really difficult to make a team based on little to no elemental reactions work in a game that's entirely dependant on elemental reactions
@@StreamKArt again mono-geo is better than freeze in recent abysses and the numbers and dmg make up for no reactions if you build it right, it's a very competent option and has very good verticle investment returns. its biggest weakness is that its shield dmg is meh but it's enough to brute force in most cases. its a team you can slap into pretty much any abyss and it'll perform well enough to clear. playing geo in an elemental team just isnt the intended way to play and its been clear since gorou that hyv really wants geo to be self contained. so if you don't play it the intended way and it doesn't work out you can't really complain. could argue that geo not having any elemental synergy and only working on its own is a failure in the games design but from my perspective having an insular element as an alternative to reactions isn't a bad thing and gives more gameplay options to people who don't want to bother with reactions. "unga bunga" as you will. i do wish geo was more accessible though because as it stands its one of the most expensive teams to get going and theres not rly incentive to do so unless you really love the characters.. theres not really incentive to play anything but hyperbloom rn tho so Eh
@@karakuryn i agree that it's a compitant comp, but I'm concerned about how long that will last. Idk about you or your comp, but the ones I've seen are only able to really clear abyss cause they have at least a couple cons on five stars, or cracked ass artifacts. Even then most I've seen struggle. If people want to do something, they're gonna do what they can, I've seen people 36 star recent abyss cycles with Amber, people are determined. But, like you said, there's no incentive to play anything other than hyperbloom right now. To many people, it's too high investment compared to vape Hu Tao, melt Ganyu, etc. I just hope that mono-teams like mono geo and anemo are able to stick around, I like the unga bunga playstyle, lol
I don't often like videos about Genshin, but as a veteran player, i think you did one of the best job explaining things in general. The weapon banner is the biggest waste of money a player can do , unless its a whale. I was able with a lot of struggle.. to 36star this last abyss which is absurdly hard. and i have ZERO banner weapon. i honestly never pulled in that banner since the game started. Of course pulling there its ok if you don't like to put effort in the game, as having the character weapon raise that char damage by a lot. But as said in the video, you can totally avoid it and still do ALL the game content.
amazing, loved this essay, i'm lucky that my baby girl is venti & i already have all my other baby girls so i'm just collecting for fun at this point loved this essay 10/10 thanks for the good watch :) if it means anything i watched all the ads through & didn't skip, enjoy that adsense to re-make what you lost on yoi
Watching this video in 2024 after kaveh had one of the longest time to get a rerun just made me laugh off. I felt so so bad when he said " I can't wish for him just yet and as a collector it hurts a bit" oh boy. Looking back at this video now.
This was a really well put together video. I burnt out and took a break since the Wanderer Banner (which i awaited eagerly, lucked crazily four times in a row for him with my freemogems) and now i come back. So many quests and areas, dragged myself through the Sumeru event for Kaveh. Didnt even get him on his rateup but instead now on Alhaithams banner. This game really knows how to make one suffer, since i now stand at another FOMO crossroads: get another Wanderer or wait for Fontaine? You dont play, you miss out. Dreadful stuff that makes md question sometimes why so many of us choose to keep suffering 😅
ik this is an old video but dude if you were saving for 500 days you would have enough primogems to wish for other characters and STILL have enough to get a guaranteed eula you didnt need to skip every character 💀
nothing will decimate me more than spending money to get kaveh only to get ganyu, baizhu, c6 candace, c2 fischl, and no kaveh 💀 i bought the full BP for the kaveh and alhaitham couch and i spent like $30 to get alhaitham's sword (which took me losing my 50/50 2 times) and finally got the sword at 20 pity. i have spend alreadt probably over $100 and i will never do this again (im delusional and i probably will lmao) not only am i just ashamed that i spent money on a game about pixels, but i just really like the characters and really like the lore and story. i dont have a problem with liking things for a long time, so i genuinely dont see myself stop playing genshin until we get to the very end. i watched ouran high school host club in like 2012 and i still watch it every year, same with fruits basket, assassination classroom, haikyuu, etc. i've spent the past decade like this so i really mean it that when i like a series i don't let it go for a long time unfortunately
My biggest beef with FOMO in Genshin is actually 2 things: • Cinnabar Spindle - unlike most other limited event weapons, it's legitimately a signature weapon for a character. I only have it on my main because I started playing shortly before the patch it was added. And what absolutely drives me mad is that THEY USED THIS WEAPON IN THE CHARACTER TRIAL LAST ALBEDO RERUN. Like, it's mildly infuriating. • Standard characters' additions - there's no guarantee you'll get a specific 5* character or weapon you want if it goes to standard and you didn't wish on their og banner (for characters like Tighnari, Dehya and 4.X character(s) to come). Like, at least add an Epitomised Path please? 😭 I still don't have Tighnari on my second main account where I skipped him and I haven't gotten a single constellation on my first main account. I hate it since I don't really care about building most older 5* standard characters: Mona is useful if I decide to build her eventually but I won't be happy to see her, Jean won't make me outright sad but I also neglected her for now, Tighnari and Dehya are the only ones whom I'll be happy to see (Fountaine 5* addition may join this "happy I lost to you" list) and I don't want to get more of the rest.
I stopped playing for a while came back to use my standard banner pulls since tighnari and dehya is now on there. Lol and what I got was my 5th jean copy. I quit again after that. Game still hates me. Maybe I’ll come back for Fontaine but I would have to do the whole desert storyline. Which is probably gonna take me forever to do.
22:51 which sucks but I feel like its kinda impossible to put in a stable order, if they would try to put it in order the problem is you're probably sacrificing a lot of characters to rerun and the high chances of a new character per patch is making it feel impossible. Unless they decide to make it a 3-type character banner something like idk honkai impact 3rd (idk if its 3 banners per patch on honkai since I haven't been keeping up w/ honkai but I'm pretty sure its more than 2). Also great vid ! its a good reminder and warning to the new players who isn't familiar with genshin's rules
The idea that you _have_ to get every limited 5-star character is wild to me. Do you even get to actually enjoy them if you already hop onto the next shiny char after just three weeks? And I don't like every character equally. I may love them for what they add to the lore, but ultimately, I only have so many slots on my team and I'm gonna fill them with my faves. Besides, it takes _so much_ investment to level up and gear up a single character that I got very cautious about pulling for new ones since by now I just know I will bench them unless I really, really click with their playstyle and personality. Oh, and Genshin gacha? You know _exactly_ your chances and can plan your savings, unlike many gachas I've seen with no hard pity or guarantee or carry-over.
Ah yes I also experienced a Naganohara Incident myself on the weapon banner during her rerun with Nahida. Luckily I had enough primos saved, I was prepared to go all the way since I'm more of a simp for a few characters but invests heavily into them instead of a collector
I'm at endgame, and I love the way farming feels like every day routine and you need to take it slow, I've been able to schedule things to not miss out on big events with weapons, but I'm completely jaded by being whacked back every time I try to seek skill progression(see abyss) or create my own novelty. Edit: I also really like collecting things so I am clearly the target demographic. I remember thinking about rushing chasm, I don't remember who I was pulling for, till I learned all of Chasm gives only one 10 pull. So no, the carrot is no longer interesting. It's the main reason I'm not picking up any other Hoyoverse game.
gr8 vid!! also the vallhalla bartender game is so good !! def lives in my head rent-free, i first played it a few years ago n it's def one of my fave games!!
A little off-topic from Genshin, but I play 3rd impact & Star rail & for the longest time in 3rd impact I was able to get most version characters (I skipped a lot of characters & the game will sometimes just give away the character for "free"), but when I started Star rail that's where I learned that it's pretty much impossible for a F2P player (least for me) to get every new banner character (for both games) & there's nothing wrong with missing out on characters. Star rail hasn't gotten reruns yet (it won't be any time soon I believe) but 3rd impact has rerun often.
Talking about burnout and not playing for a while, (though here I didn't specifically get burnt out) I had got genshin originally in november of 2022. I got to around AR 11 or 12, and didn't play. I got back on in january, played for maybe a week, and then stopped again. I finally actually got into the game this most recent april of 2023, and have since learned I missed the banners of characters I really like, such as the Raiden Shogun, Wanderer, and Hu Tao. The part also mentioning skipping banners really resonates with me, because as a f2p (Free to play) I've had to skip a couple banners in order to get a different character. For example, I skipped nahida for Ganyu, and then I'm also going to skip kazuha because the Eula rerun is finally happening. I'm getting increasingly tempted to finally spend money on this game, Even if just for a welkin. Sigh...
I play pretty reliably but still haven't explored much of Sumeru. I can't say I don't enjoy the game but keeping up with leveling characters and doing events, I so rarely feel up to just wandering and finding things the way I did early game.
I love combat in open world. Using Eula to beat down fatui agents is fun. So glad ive been playing since 1.0 and ive always known that this game will be worth the 100 dollars ive spent (making sure not to spend more because its a game and i shouldnt spend more than what i would spend in one go on any other game🙃) im lucky to have had the time to not miss more that a day or two these past 2+ years. im a little sad how often i need to skip characters just to make sure i can get the others i want... Buuut the way to get around the character issues is to just run a second account and pull for the characters you dont get on your main 🤡 easy
I’m a f2p, and saved up 180 wishes for the first eula banner. Somehow got C2 and she quickly became my best char, so i repeated that for the second banner with 300ish wishes, got C5, went “alright it won’t be long until I can get c6” …I have 86k primos and 100+ intertwined. It’s been so long Luckily I’m not really a collector, I just make the team I find fun. I’ve been able to get by perfectly fine since just having Eula is enough to beat the vast majority of content (minus spiral abyss which i don’t really care for) and haven’t really felt the need to wish on banners or buy genesis
I stopped playing right around when Sumeru released because of burnout and I can't describe how much I felt like I've been missing after just returning to it a week ago. The meta skyrocketed (especially with dendro and what have you), I missed out on like 20 characters, 2 regions (well, 3 because Natlan is out too now), and the story experience (now I just avoid spoilers at all costs even though I'm into the game's lore so much). I also missed out on grinding and all which means I just feel left behind. I missed out on a bunch of exclusive weapons which is extra sucky because some are really good for characters I wanted to build. Not to mention I was also a low spender (BP + Welkin) since day one, so to stop playing for so long literally made me anxious to return to it again. It was a do it right or don't at all type mindset, which really made it hard to return after 4.0. 'Since I already missed out on Sumeru, why bother with Fontaine? It's not like I can catch up at this rate. Even now with 5.0 out It still took me a week to convince myself that I want to return to the game 'just for the story and lore', only to now feel like I'm falling in all the same grindy traps all over again, but more on that later. While trying to catch up with co-op achievments, I ran into this person who was probably a low spender that just had insane builds, but what caught my interest was his Arlecchino (which was an insane build too). I've seen the post Inazuma teaser with all the harbingers and I was super excited for her only to forget about the game, miss out. I started to save up because she's a meta character that will likely get rerun soon enough, and I've been speedrunning Sumeru's drawn out archon quest to get to Fontaine as fast as possible. To be honest, even that is tiring, especially when I had 100% exploration on everything up to Sumeru (except chasm) and with how sheer biggly big Sumeru is I feel like I'm risking burnout again. Everyone is AR 60 while I'm still mid 58 and it kinda feels isolating. The past week I've legitimately had trouble sleeping because of stress about missing out on so much, even though I know I shouldn't feel like that about a predatory gacha game of all things. This video really captured the nefarious mental tactics Hoyoverse uses to keep players invested in the game for as long as possible and explained it really well. I'm glad I stumbled upon this video. Coincidentally, I mained Eula ever since she was released lmao.
Im just glad i got her on her rerun after i missed her initial release. I honestly haven't felt any fomo in henshin for a long time now. Im at a spot im happy with the characters i have.
I was a dolphin for a while, buying welkin and bp and the occasional crystal pack if I wanted. I was very lucky when it came to the 50/50, my first 5 star being Kokomi (who I saved for back when Inazuma came out) to my absolute delight. Over time though, I've only been playing when a character I wanted was up or for an interesting event. I didn't get Wanderer, one of my favorite characters... then made peace with that. I spent money for Nahida. A lot of money. And I knew Wanderer would come back. I was lucky most recently on Klee, a character I would have spent for but got at 15 pity. I think I've come more at peace that I can always just.. wait for them. They'll come back. IDV has an arguably more predatory gacha, and I've been playing that for a while. Every limited item is truly limited, they never return, and pulls are expensive. 300 dollars for a singular limited S-Tier. But it's optional, and it's just skins. But playing it has made me somehow better with playing gachas as a whole and less scared of missing something. It taught me I don't need to collect everything - and now I'm playing Genshin with this mindset. I wish I had it back then though.
I'm at peace with Eula's long time away at this point. I started wanting her in 2.3 during Itto's banner (literal days after her banner left) and I decided it was time to start saving for her in 2.8. I skipped Nahida for her so I would have a guarantee. I skipped Raiden for her so I would have a guarantee. By the time Nahida came back, I had enough to get Nahida and also keep the guarantee. Oh well. At this point I only want 3 characters now (Eula, Raiden, and Kokomi) because I have everybody else that I want, so I am content to wait. FOMO can only hit you if you're actually missing out. As a Yoimiya and Kaeya main who can 36* Spiral Abyss with the right amount of planning and tactics, any new characters are just a bonus.
at this point im glad i got her during her last rerun I can sit and laugh at everyone else. And now that i have kazuha i have finally collected my most wanted
The best way to play genshin is to just fall in love with every character. Sooner or later you'll get them all, so just roll on all banners that have a char that you're missing and enjoy them all equally. That's what I've been doing for 3 years now and I love the game.
I have never related to a video so much. I am on that daily grind, even on vacation. Eula was the first new limited 5* after I started playing and I just had to have her. I too am a sucker for wifus with big swords but also love physical damage types in games. I was very naive and didn't know just how much Hoyo would ignore physical. While I don't regret getting her because she is the only character that can nuke for over 2 million on my account, I do wish the money I spent on her would have gone to many other characters and their constellations. Eula is still one of my top 3 favorite characters I just never use her anymore.
So while obviously Hoyoverse has strongly instilled FOMO into their games, I also think the push of the FOMO has another unintended side effect. While their goal is to get you playing everyday to keep you addicted, when you miss a day, it can push people to miss a week, a month, and then just not come back. I actually played Honkai Star Rail, and the QoL changes were so drastic, that I decided I just didn't want to play Genshin. The dailies were quicker, the grinding was easier, etc. I had hit max Adventure Rank over a year ago and I just have this monotonous daily process that they made easier in their new game but haven't streamlined in their old one. And now Fontaine is coming out but I haven't play it for months and while I might like to go back and play it, the fact that I have missed so much makes me not want to.
True and this is something the creators of the game really don't understand. When people leave, they'll most likely leave for good. It's not smart to build game loyalty on a shaky foundation of psychological manipulation.
I enjoyed the commentary. Liked and subbed. I have been away from Genshin as a "full-time" player for around two years. I am incredibly far behind. I don't even know if it's worth catching up at this point, I am missing so many "meta" characters and all my old ones seem washed and so far from viable.
Another character thats probably one of the most popular characters in the game thats frequently having long reruns is HU TAO, she had the longest no rerun untill shenhe and her reran. I find it crazy eula hasnt reran since heckin double banners were introduced
this video describes perfectly why i had to quit this game 2 years ago... i really did enjoy it but i'm the kind of person that can't go "halfway" on most things and this game abuses the hell out of you if you care about going all in. characters i can skip but missing limited story events and such was just too much for me. you really have to be able to just get what you want out of the game and let other things pass you by and i was not capable of doing that. game was just way too much of a mental burden for someone like myself.. my first and hopefully last gacha game.
I just came back to catch up on Sumeru questline because I'm a fan of MiHoYo's writing team, I already decided that I will only do Comissions to unlock the story quests and hangouts and will come back only to sweep events near their end date.
Honestly, I’ve largely gotten lucky. I only have 6 5stars I still want to get remaining (and most of those are V3 5stars, like Nilou, Al Haitham, and Baizhu). And I’m still on the hook with so many beautiful Fontaine characters on their way.
the reason I play mihoyo gacha and don't mind pulling for them, is because how much love and care is into each character. if it was any other gacha I play like obey me or crk I wouldn't bother saving or spending
I stopped pulling one week before Venti's first banner expired and then I did skip all character banners until Ayaka came out. I got Zombie from Venti's first banner and even so it took me several multipull until I got Ayaka. I got her C1 from the her first release. Then I pulled for Raiden, who also made me to suffer and I ended up broke. Then I pulled for Shenhe, I even had to exchange a lot of shop coins for fates so I could get her. Shenge got me broke. Then my friend expressed her dreamy party formed by Klee, Yoimiya, Sucrose and Tanfei to law them all out of troubles. So, I pulled for Yoimiya, during the Fischl's event at Klee's islands. I ended broke. Then her re-run happened again and I tried for her bow and I got it with a few pull (I also got Ayaka's weapon). After a while I pulled for Dehya (I don't regret it like others). I had some gems left, so recently I pulled for Yoimiya and I used every single fate and gems, I even exachange for more fates and now I have Yoimiya C4. Everything as F2P! I like Yoimiya so much. My friend likes Eula a lot and she is suffering waiting for Eula's re.run!
4:30 i took a hiatus right after sumeru release. i missed lisa outfit, lantern rite, the sumeru festival, everything. i started another account because the "retired account" was beyond saving for me. missing limited weapons, characters, skins, it makes me really sad and enticed me to not play the game for even longer. right now im coming to the standpoint where im afraid i'll miss something. in the upcoming month there are like 2 weeks where i won be online, missing events, dailies, and its scary, oddly enough lol
Very good video! i am at a very similar point at the GAme. Mostly BP and Welkin + bought a 50€ pack once and played since 1.3 i skipped Eula first then lost the 50/50 on her rerun and after that the wait has been long and painful but i finally got her the hour her rerun dropped. i also look alot into leaks so i can kinda plan my investments better and i will probably spend some amount of money soon. But to me it's worth, i have the money for it and it brings me fun and joy to build new Characters and test out new playstyles.
20:20 It's not too bad, it could have been worse with Qiqi or Keqing, because Jean can beat small and medium fry even in world level 8 without any artifacts or enhancements, as her E will use the fall damage mechanic instead, which scales with world level. (just don't make her too squishy when fighting ranged enemies)
Hello all! To new subs and old, thank you so much for the warm reception on this video. If you took time to leave a comment or show some love, thank you as well! I may not be responding to every single comment, but I am doing my best to read them all.
If you'd like to ask me some questions for an upcoming Q&A video, feel free to fill this form out and I'll read your submission out! forms.gle/p43biagEU9mW7m8X9
Thanks so much again, everyone!
If it's still your wish (heh) to see Eula on a banner again, then congrats!
Here's a simple one for you to consider, how far do you agree or disagree with my own personal opinion:
'Live Services' are scams, always, without exception.
4:44 The most infamous one is Albedo's Cinnabar Spindle. Since then, Albedo's bis weapon is forever gone. And that has caused an incredible fear on missing event weapons and their refinements.
im so mad i'll never be able to get dodoco tales ever again
This is the reason I quit. Why bother playing, If I can't get what I want?
CINNABAR SPINDLE IS AN EVENT WEAPON??? god i hate all limited time weapons because i cant get any of the ones before mailed flower and i keep seeing festering desire or toukabou shigure in builds
@@kitsune_gt It is, sadly. And Hoyo had the audacity to put it on Albedo in his trial on his last re-run. Knowing is imposible to get for new players.
Meanwhile me wanting the beeg feesh 😢
The trick is to be desperate for your characters to come back that you save up and skip everything.... which is exactly what the gacha gods want. Skip more, which means you see more that you may want in the futute.... and the cycle repeats.
except... i only wanted 2 characters in total and im still waiting for the day hoyo pumps out another cool character i want
Me who only wants 5 characters in the game and ill get their supports later ig
Hmm? You only need 180 wishes you need to save and you can continue pulling anyone else

as a klee main, i have been forever grateful in her steady and reliable habit of having one rerun every year for the summer. its something ive learned not to take for granted, bc im slowly trying to build her up to c6, and knowing i can pull every year and get her constellations is huge
Im literally in the same position
Same but with Xiao for Lantern rite it’s like clock work
Klee is blessed that she's Alice's child, always gets some fun every summer event. and even if not Alice will always come back for Monds events on some mysterious ways
i respect the dedication
I'll be honest, Klee is what got me into Genshin (cause she so cute) after seeing a friend play.
I started basically right after her banner ended, was disappointed but we knew some leaks about the next handful of 5*s and we figured there was a pattern to it, so, and this was the literal verbatim thought that went through my head "okay, so I won't have to wait for a year or something."
...Umm...
She requires high investment, and a low investment hyperbloom team can clear the hardest content in the game just as easily as she can
hyperbloom can probably clear more easily
Hyperbloom is one of Eula's best teams. Fridge variant, of course. It fills in several of her weaknesses, while providing superconduct. So, yes, a low investment hyperbloom team can clear the hardest content as easily as she can, because she can be part of that team. If not for that, said hyperbloom team most likely clears it easier than she does.
I think they brought over Honkai's systems, but realized they gimped physical. In HI3, only physical units can crit and elements can't. Making element crit, physical is nothing special. Now, physical and geo (yellow physical) are basically inert.
@@Axterix13 yea but it's better to replace her with anyone else, she's just a fourth slot
And that involves knowing what are we up to and learning strategies that will let us have the most fun without unnecessary regrets on spending more than we wanted to.
if you are that desparate. you really ought to be looking into just playing a game with no microtransations
I don't spend cuz it makes the world shittier
@@erwidobi7812an yet, you give the government your tax money too
@@erwidobi7812 I don't think there's anything wrong on paying for entertainment, or in general paying other people for doing something you enjoy.
A lot of people who have C6 faruzan probably have a wanderer constellation like me
Nah, just a matter of time
@@pontoancoraPoint still stands
@@isoundout sure, but isn't that relevant to not have one char fpr a while when the game have 60+ characters.

Same with Kuki, that I loved the char when they announced. I pulled 90 times for her, got Itto in the process, but she never came. No problem, I got her on Cynos banner, and now I have her c4, soon to be c6.

Thats what te company wants, your money or your time, and a lot of it
@@isoundout "How much do you have to play to get a C6 Faruzan since her last banner?"
idk, maybe 2 out of each banner, 3 banners in a year. But that can drastically change.
"Do you know hoy much primos do you need to guarantee her?"
Theres no garanteed, but as a 4 star, they came eventually. Just play the game and you will have EVERY SINGLE 4 star chars with c6. As i said before. Just a matter of time.
"greedy tactics from hoyo in order to push people to spend is "not relevant" then..."
Giving 85% of the characters for free? I dont call that greedy at all. I would be very satisfied with 50% or even 25%. The game have now 60+ characters, so we have way more than we need. Even new players get enough in a single year.
"That people need to waste more of their lives in this game in order to just have a chance to maybe play what the want?"
Its a game made to be played for years, so i dont think this is a good argument.
Same
I am saving for eula and genshin it's my de-stresser from work. I play more casually star risk but definitely I'm making wiser choices for SR than when i did genshin .
When a game stops being fun then there is no point of playing . Yet just try to make sure you pull for characters YOU want and not because it's hyped
Punishment part sound like when me getting dehya and build her and she suck ass hard.
Same, I even tried coming back before scaramouche got released but got bored because nothing has changed endgame content wise lol
Vengeance!
if someone saved since her rerun i doubt theyll need to pay at all lol

Hope she gets a rerun soon. So more people can appreciate her fun gameplay and great design.
In 3.8
Wonderful as always.
My answer is simple:
Learn to be satisfied with what you got.
@@churlygurl6140 actually we get more resources than new characters need.

(No regrets, even if happily he’s now already C2.)
I’ve never cared much for Eula and her banners continue to be skips for me but I hope all of you who wait for her finally get her :)
You can ensure them if you don't piss away all your starglitter and if you play long enough.
Similar, yet opposite. Playing since 1.1 and have Keqing at C3 (the C1 being a spent limited 5* guarantee on her own banner lol), but I have C6+ Diluc I never use 😅
I know her cons aren't really much to write home about, but I would really like to have some kind of a guarantee to C6 my favorite character in the entire game.
Yeah, thankfully the starglitter shop is there :)
My wording might have been weird, I tried to say that like limited banner four stars, with the standard banner five stars you never have a guaranteed. There’s a pool of characters and weapons and it’s RNG which one you get every time.
The new Kazuha? im sorry physical is a dead element and Eula herself has a myriad of issues.
@@anheld8726 Heh, only compared the waiting time between banners, not their performance as units. Eula is definitely not Kazuha :)
He is right I've already started saving for the hydro archon and gods know when she'll be on a banner
Should be 4.1 or 4.2 for hydro archon
Your music choices for this video are really great, perfectly matched the ambiance of the current section
I will never shut up about how lucky I am to have her since her first banner - she was my first ever 5* and I still use her :)
Thank you for all the kind words! I really appreciate it all of it, truly :)
This is why i follow leaks to help plan out my spending/saving of primos
I play the way I play, listen to a podcast and do my dailies, and then either go through the story or logout
mhy actually makes some crazy gacha games. like, seriously, they're the only gachas i've consistently spent money on.
although that might not be saying much, since outside of hoyo gachas i only still play around 4 (bandori[casually now, but was my obsession of 2+ years until around 3 years back] And for playing daily i have blue archive[favourite], alchemy stars and nu carnival) and out of those 4 i've only spent money on two (bandori twice for the stars box, alchemy stars once for a hiiro skin)
but with mhy? tears of themis, genshin, and now even hsr. i have the monthly for all 3, and it's all just to save for upcoming characters/cards in case they release another one i really like.
that is to say: mhy is really good at getting people to spend money. whether or not it's just the monthly pass
also: don't try pulling every character. for your own sanity's sake. i'm sure almost everyone knows this by now though. save your primos! never think "oh my pity is low, so this won't affect anything" ESPECIALLY if it's a banner of a 5* you dislike! the number of times i've seen people complain about getting a limited 5* they dislike as if they didn't decide to pull on that banner drives me nuts! don't do random pulls outta nowhere then fucking complain about it!
I remember seeing ayaka leaks back in 1.2 and started saving like crazy.
.
Then Eula came, I'm weak to sneezes and suddenly without me noticing all my 180 fates were gone.
.
I failed my japanese cryo queen miserably.
.
Diluc, Xinyan and Razor got benched forever and Eula did carry me through lots of content and I still use her in my teams (it's 3.7 rn)
.
This is where the earlier qualities come in:
Ability to prioritize, focus on priorities, committing to goals, resisting temptations, planning ahead and managing resources.
And I totally agree with the "building good habits" part. They can't force you to do nothing, if you just have your head in place.
@@Swagbastian I wish every game was like Genshin.
Sometimes you need to remind yourself that GI is just a game, one that you should be having fun in, and not stressing out over
True, but if the game REQUIRES you to put it down sometimes just to not be stressed, then is it even a good game?
No matter what you do, you just can't win.
the other day I arrived home from work at 00:30, and procedet to play genshin 'till 3 in the morning because due to starrail I haven't been playing and I did the whole TGC event in a day
I’ve had Eula triple crowned since day 1. I can confirm she hits like a truck.
I only did one abyss run, got 35s and called it a day. I ain't wasting my time for an extra primos that's not even worth half a wish 😅

The Eula rerun will finally bring the cryo hypostasis back into relevance for a brief stint
Eula is the new physical 5* dps, her debut giving some love to phys. Wdym that this is her rerun xP
This dude out there poppin high quality content and is still underrated af 😭
ik this is an old video but dude if you were saving for 500 days you would have enough primogems to wish for other characters and STILL have enough to get a guaranteed eula you didnt need to skip every character 💀
nothing will decimate me more than spending money to get kaveh only to get ganyu, baizhu, c6 candace, c2 fischl, and no kaveh 💀 i bought the full BP for the kaveh and alhaitham couch and i spent like $30 to get alhaitham's sword (which took me losing my 50/50 2 times) and finally got the sword at 20 pity. i have spend alreadt probably over $100 and i will never do this again (im delusional and i probably will lmao)
not only am i just ashamed that i spent money on a game about pixels, but i just really like the characters and really like the lore and story. i dont have a problem with liking things for a long time, so i genuinely dont see myself stop playing genshin until we get to the very end. i watched ouran high school host club in like 2012 and i still watch it every year, same with fruits basket, assassination classroom, haikyuu, etc. i've spent the past decade like this so i really mean it that when i like a series i don't let it go for a long time unfortunately
I love this video! I've been trying to put this into words for ages and you've done it perfectly!
also my strat for avoiding the cycle is recognizing that im too poor to care that much about video game characters
My biggest beef with FOMO in Genshin is actually 2 things:
• Cinnabar Spindle - unlike most other limited event weapons, it's legitimately a signature weapon for a character.
Funny thing that... there is an epitomized path in Honkai: Star Rail.
Bruh... Feels like a spit on the face taking all the improvements we've been asking for and putting them in a brand new game
@@yagami-chan1059TRUE THO
me getting suggested this video the day she gets her rerun announced! Great content, cant wait to see what else you make
22:51 which sucks but I feel like its kinda impossible to put in a stable order, if they would try to put it in order the problem is you're probably sacrificing a lot of characters to rerun and the high chances of a new character per patch is making it feel impossible.
My trick is to focus only at one waifu at a time.

It’s literally Kazuha but Eula this time. Overlooked the character and now desperately want them
"The Disappearance of Eula Lawrence" My inner Haruhi made me smile at that.

@@bighat8794 the most important aspect of a Genshin team is what I like to call the Ara Ara factor
I’m a f2p, and saved up 180 wishes for the first eula banner. Somehow got C2 and she quickly became my best char, so i repeated that for the second banner with 300ish wishes, got C5, went “alright it won’t be long until I can get c6”
…I have 86k primos and 100+ intertwined. It’s been so long
Luckily I’m not really a collector, I just make the team I find fun.
I pulled a Qiqi for the first time on Kazuha's banner today. I am in AGONY
"Characters will eventually come back, but there's no telling when that will be." EUUUUUULLLLAAAAAA!
at this point im glad i got her during her last rerun I can sit and laugh at everyone else. And now that i have kazuha i have finally collected my most wanted
as a FGO player which considered a Dark souls of Gacha
Genshin Gacha is like walking in the flowers field.
nobody calls fgo the dark souls of gacha
"As a person who eats horsesh*t regularly, I'd say dogsh*t is way better"
I kinda miss the gold old days of gaming dose anyone remember the recon helmet from halo or a game that is feature complete
Such a good video what? Not enough views way too good way too well made! Great🎉
Fomo ain’t no joke I just dropped 56k primos for c2 kazuha. I had no earlier and won one 50/50 lol.
My friend likes Eula a lot and she is suffering waiting for Eula's re.run!

i took a hiatus right after sumeru release. i missed lisa outfit, lantern rite, the sumeru festival, everything. i started another account because the "retired account" was beyond saving for me. missing limited weapons, characters, skins, it makes me really sad and enticed me to not play the game for even longer. right now im coming to the standpoint where im afraid i'll miss something. in the upcoming month there are like 2 weeks where i won be online, missing events, dailies, and its scary, oddly enough lol
I've saved enough to C6 Eula, and I'm a Eula main with C2 and R1 Song of Broken Pines.
