Big mistake by trainer...never ever put ur hand inside eye hook wen pulling dolly towards trailer. Dolly and fly into trailer therefore crushing hand in between trailer and dolly
Thank you so much for the vid! Speaking as a female who has never seen these parts but studying for the test the visual aide and detailed explanation is very valuable!
Mike: There are glad-hands (where the dolly airlines connect) on the back of double/triple trailers that are equipped with shutoff valves. The shutoff mechanism is very easily recognized.
Hey is this the same Lew Grill from the truck driving videos with the manual....we still use those videos in our class. this is cool. We are on doubles and triples and I was searching converter dollies and this video popped up. Good old lew.
The air is supplied to the folly from the tractor. That's why he connects the service line and the emergency line, when you get in your tractor and release or push the red knob in it supplies air to it. You just want to make sure on the last trailer you close the air line, I always check my brakes with the hand brake instead of testing them with the service break when pulling doubles or triples.
Here in about 2 weeks I am starting a run pulling doubles. I have the endorsement but no experience hooking and pulling them. They don't train but said if I can show that I can hook them confidently I can have the job so here I am getting lessons on RUclips haha..
Here is a new patented tool to move and line up the dolly with the lead trailer pin hook, the Dolly Jockey. I have attached a short video that I am sure you will find interesting. Glen Edward Cook
