Video had to be circa 1973 that equipment was brand new, cause once its put into service it's never washed unless it rains on it !!! I think it's the dirtiest fleet on the road besides YRC for the most part
Nice equipment, good looking uniforms, by the way when was this video produced 1978 ? I haven't seen any Estes equipment ever being so clean? I think there's some professional video touch up's here? And the actor here should have won a Grammy for the ( I've lost my trailer somewhere!) Look on his face, OUTSTANDING 👏👏👍
WHOA WHOA WHOA what happened to the part on getting the dolly and taking it to the pup?? I'm ready for a nap after this video which must have been made back when they had an hour and a half for a pre-trip and on-duty time of 18hrs which is what's required for all this in/out of the truck stuff???
The last five years I drove before retiring I ran line haul for Fed Ex. Way to much information, and if you don't notice you lost the back trailer after you get to the terminal, for get all this and find another job !!!
good video but his back trailer was way to high you want your fifth wheel to lift the trailer up a little when hooking so you don't have a high hook lol
How in the world did that dolly end up at his tail trailer. You should place dolly 1st before hooking your lead. But this was probably a 2 truck video, they just didn't show the other guy staging the dolly
What a mess about. In and out too many times and what a way to wear out the trucks starter. And I would never move a dolly by hand it’s too heavy and dangerous
Should I take the key with me. I'm not clear on that. Because some employee, whom you hired mind you, might sneak into the tractor and run me over Omg! So fucking done with this.
The unthinkable has happened.... Then you realize, damn, I'm non-union, they will fire your non-union ass, because they can. S***, you should have signed that union card when you had the chance. You didn't believe you needed union representation, until you needed it . Good luck finding a new job.
Most line haul companies it's not mandatory. Crossing the chains doesn't really give it any additional safety. Crossing the chains is more for really long chains that can possibly get snagged on something on the the dolly or front trailer but 95% of the time, the chains don't need to be crossed.
This is very thorough and will help you pass d&t endorsement
I’m glad he’s not hooking up triples. After getting in and out of the truck that many times Iwould be done for the day.
Always loved Estes and Consolidated Freightways classic Red wheels and Dollies!!
This was really a well thought detailing proper procedures. If drivers have a problem with it I would like to see them do a better job.

Lmao. As if drivers follow half of these steps.
Great content, it assisted with the passing of my CDL permit
By the time this guy finishes hooking up, I'll be 1hour down the road.

Should I take the key with me? Should I get out of the tractor 25 times or 37 times? Bu the time this set gets hooked up it will be time to punch out.
Crazy joe devola think of all the overtime you will not be paid for, nothing like overkill in a video !
lol lol

Well if you know what youre taking about, the dolly has ABS so its after 1998.
Most comprehensive demo I've seen. Quick question: what is a Petcock?
It’s a valve been driving long?

excellent information very clear thanks
Not ONE of those accident scenes was a 28 foot trailer! lol
cheat sheet guide: to hook up doubles place keys in front pocket
So you are tell us that this driver never looked in his mirrors or felt the difference of not have that second trailer behind him
good video but his back trailer was way to high you want your fifth wheel to lift the trailer up a little when hooking so you don't have a high hook lol
Great video, thank you so much
Am intetested in "senior citizen trucking", i.e. 400 miles or 8 hours/day max. Does your company have a program for this?
Two many times getting in and out of truck, and I’ll leave the key in the ignition.

Richmond, VA!!!!
This is not the real world, I'd be fired if I took as long as this guy!
well done
Exelente
Why dose this video feel like it's from 1999.?
What a mess about. In and out too many times and what a way to wear out the trucks starter. And I would never move a dolly by hand it’s too heavy and dangerous
Junk tractor ! I'm glad I got into this industry a few years ago
who uses air taps? so out of date
Should I take the key with me. I'm not clear on that. Because some employee, whom you hired mind you, might sneak into the tractor and run me over
Omg! So fucking done with this.
Hook up tripls

He didn’t even cross the safety chains

Chains are supposed to be crossed to catch the converter tongue from striking the ground if it becomes detached from the trailer.
I will never hire this guy. He will never make cut time.
It's not brain surgery. lol
