@@yeremy7144 You can't back up otherwise you don't have enough room to hook the dolly to the trailer. you obviously aren't a truck driver. if you are too far back the dolly cannot be raise high enough to clear the bottom of the trailer and you'll be stuck SMH
You are right about how companies train or don't train their drivers. Just couldn't figure out the beeping noise. Made a new friend in the process and four years later I married her. Thanks for the informational/training video. Being a seasonal fed ex driver out of wichita ks, this video is pretty much spot on. The beeping is for low air pressure, and that includes the tires. Fed ex trailers has it set up when you hook up the air if a tire is low, it starts airing up the low tire to the set pressure. So if a tire starts to lose pressure faster than it can fill it, there is a lite that comes on on the trailer that let's the driver know to check your tires. I thought that was pretty cool when I started there.

Pulled doubles for awhile. Liked the ending showing your struggles with the dolly! I am a male, 6 ft and 250 lbs, and there were times I struggled just as hard to move the dolly! A slight uphill grade suddenly changes all, especially if slippery
You explain this impressively well. I've seen quite a few videos out there that don't stress the important bits enough. I've pulled STAA doubles, triples, rockies and turnpikes and dealt with single and tandem congears and I wouldn't have explained this setup any differently than you - good job!

As a driver for one of your outside carriers, Thank You!!!! I had a general idea how to do this but after watching your video I’m now 100% confidant I can handle it with no problem.
Hi Shelby, your an inspiration to All those women who would like to be a trucker, your instructions were great, no fluff, just tell it like it is. And the end when I saw you struggling whith the dolly I thought a 2x4 hanging on two bits of rope so it trails close behind the dolly wheels would stop it rolling back, as you inched it forward. In the days of horse drawn wagons they had the same thing dragging behind the wheels to stop rolling back on hills, just my two cents from this old timer. Thanks for the video, stay safe , best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.
I am very impressed with the strength of this 5' dynamo!!!! You may want to get a small Come-a-Long to help pull the dolley to the hook. After hooking up to a fifth wheel, I have see drivers do a litte test tug to make sure it is latched. Stay safe Shelby and keep the vids coming.

Great video! I pulled triples for FX for many years and enjoyed the challenge. A few bits of information for you, inside the pintle hook that little tongue is called a snubber. We keep our fingers clear of the loop because those dollies have ballast in the tail end to keep the tongue weight easy to manage. Sometimes if it has too much it will pop up violently. A dolly can weigh up to 2800lbs so never wrestle one, you'll lose. In your blooper where you struggled to get the dolly to the pintle, bounce the dolly off the second trailer to get momentum if the trailer isn't sitting too high. Also make sure when you go to air up the trailers that you're absolutely sure the tractor brakes are still set. I've seen many ghost trucks in the FX yards and drivers about to get fired for causing damage. Safe travels!
Meanwhile I am driving a simple truck, no trailer, juste a 10 meter long truck. I look up to all of you truckers, I'll learn until I retire (in 25 years 😂)
Good tutorial Shelby. Only thing I would add is high hook issues. Sometimes we cannot get the landing gear to lower to the proper position. At that point we have to air up the dolly and it's a whole different scenario at that point. Side note: We lost a guy here in Oregon a few years ago while he was hooking up trailers. I have taught myself to hook doubles up a little different when hooking near other trailers because of that, if you're interested in hearing about it. Drive safe and thanks for doing what you do. @@electroniccheeks it’s crazy how we are under the same umbrella but totally different. They only use rail trailers and ground has rail and the belly pups. Not to mention freight dollies are weird lol

Tough little lady, I see your height is an advantage when you walk under the trailer, being 5’ noth’in does come with perks
Thank you, I appreciate you for this educational video. Definitely helped understand more than a previous video I saw lol. I’m taking the written test this Friday 😁 and feel more confident, thank you
Take them damn beepers and make the FedEx CEO. Stuff them up you know what.
The beeping is a safety device to let someone know that’s loading the trailer a truck has hooked and powered the trailer. You get use to it I don’t hear the beeps anymore lol
Only on ground trailers. Freight does not have this "safety feature".
@@electroniccheeks it’s crazy how we are under the same umbrella but totally different. They only use rail trailers and ground has rail and the belly pups. Not to mention freight dollies are weird lol

Ground is it's own animal.
I hadn't hooked up a set for a while and came across your video. Very concise yet informative and your delivery is spot on. I shared this with everyone (even those not in the business). You're clearly a ray of professionalism and positivity for the trucking community. I wish there was another 1000 Shelby's out there being great ambassadors for us all!!
Driving doubles is spooky for the rest of us mortals
Do it all the time .... doubles and triples!!! Even a quad
I hauled, ran the yard hooking and unhooking doubles for a few years, it aint bad.
I just got my license and passed my doubles/triples and tank endorsement last week. This video helps a lot to understand hooking up the dolly and air supply to the second trailer. I just saved it for future reference. Thank you and stay safe out there. I will start my journey in 2021 🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Good for you ❤️👍❤️🇱🇷❤️
Not everyone moves PUP Trailers all the time and some are just clueless 😂
Before being an Owner Operator I drove for Roadway and CF pulling doubles. Ma’am this has got to be the best video I have ever seen explaining the hookup and drop of double trailers. Exelent job. Just be glad you will never have to Jif up a tractor ( jufing up is sliding a converter dolly “jiflox” into the tractor frame making the tractor a tandem) now that is a greasy mess.
You are supercute!
You are more thorough and safety-minded than 100 union drivers pulling a customer's 53' single trailer......good info.
This is just what I needed to approach my new venture...Thanks.
ive done this before you make some men look bad lol, Great job, retired now i dont miss it at all
What a great person, someone that thinks about others and not just herself. Absolutely amazing young lady!!
